At Age 33.

/ 3-22-11
Sherri Thompson had been an integral part of the Atlanta Georgia fight community for over 10 years. She had been involved in Kickboxing, MMA and Boxing and has been a fighter, (56 total fights) trainer, gym manager and aid to many in the fight sports over 14 years. Sadly Sherri was found dead in her apartment on Tuesday morning, March 22nd, 2011. She died from a cardiac disarythmia.
Before fighting she competed in gymnastics, dance and was high school cheerleading captain. She graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and had dedicated her life to fitness and empowering women. She was a member of the comic book and film project "WEAPONS of Virtue", this is where She was going to make her debut in the entertainment industry. "I was extremely saddened to hear about the passing of Sherri Thompson. Sherri was a definite beacon of truth, she wasn't afraid to speak her mind and definitely wasn't afraid to reach for her dreams. She will be missed but will live on through WEAPONS of Virtue, my condolences go out to her family at this time," stated Louis Velazquez founder of WEAPONS of Virtue. WEAPONS of Virtue Audition Clip.
Sherri was also an IKF/ISCF promoter promoting K.A. Productions, Inc. event at The Roxy Nightclub with business partner Mimi Sancho on Friday, August 16, 2002. The two first time promoters brought martial sports action to the epicenter of "The Big A's," upscale nightlife, and all in attendance seemed to appreciate their efforts.
On the same night Thompson fought for the vacant IKF "AMATEUR" Women' Muay Thai Rules Super Lightweight Title. In the bout she defeated Gena Leathers by TKO at the conclusion of the second round.
Sherri fought again for the IKF as a Pro Fighter with a win over Andrea Blevins of Hollister, Missouri by TKO at 1:42 of round 2 on Saturday, February 1st, 2003 on Brett Moses February Fight Party event at the DeKalb-Atlanta Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Rest in Peace Sherri,
You are one of God's Champions now...

More About Sherri From
toe2toefitness.blogspot.com
Sherri has worked at just about every gym in the
Atlanta area, helping to groom numerous fighters (male and female) into
what they are today. Whether cornering a fighter, working behind the scenes, or
just hanging out in the crowd, you always saw Sherri at all the local fights.
It's not going to seem the same without her there. Even more than what she did
for the fighting community, she impacted peoples lives through her love of life!
Embrace your crazy
was her motto, and that she
did! She just had a special way of making everyone feel good, even when she was
torturing students in her kickboxing classes. I don't know
how many other women could get away with calling so many men (pro fighters
included) Princess or Sparkle Nuts
or "Twinkle Toes". We will miss her spunky-ness at Toe2Toe
Fitness and have been blessed by having her as our Cardio kickboxing
instructor and our Striking coach for the last few months. Let's all celebrate
her life and EMBRACE YOUR CRAZY!!
Make sure you visit her Facebook
page and let her family know what an impact Sherri has had on your life!!

FACTUAL UPDATE FROM 2003
Sherri's
IKF Amateur Title was bittersweet. Some
time after winning the title on her K.A. Productions, Inc. event at The Roxy
Nightclub with business partner Mimi Sancho on August 16, 2002 the
IKF was informed Sherri had
already fought as a Pro Boxer, having her first Pro Boxing match on November
18th, 1998 at the Station Casino, Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Thompson
had actually fought six Pro boxing bouts (3-3 - Click Here.) prior to her IKF Amateur Kickboxing bout. Her last Pro boxing
bout being just a few months prior to the IKF
Amateur Title bout on June 28th of 2002 at the same nightclub as this event, the
Roxy Theater in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. From what the IKF was informed,
neither Sherri or her trainer were not aware that once you fought as a Pro
fighter in any fight sport, you could not fight as an amateur in another.
