California Boxing Regulators
Gave Free Fight Tickets To
Friends, Records Show

By law, Athletic Commission members are required to report gifts worth $50 or more obtained from an outside firm for anyone else. Only a fraction of the tickets were disclosed before The Times asked.

By Michael Rothfeld: Reporting from Sacramento - State officials who regulate boxing have used their positions to gain admission to big-ticket events for friends -- actor Sylvester Stallone among them -- relatives and other associates who sit ringside for free, records show.

One member of the California State Athletic Commission directed state employees to obtain free passes for his wife and pastor. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who appointed all but one of the commissioners, attended an event gratis, as did one of his high-ranking aides.

At some fights, guests were placed in VIP rows, in front of fans whose tickets cost hundreds of dollars apiece. Schwarzenegger and his son sat with Stallone at the Antonio Margarito-Shane Mosley welterweight championship bout in January. Tickets to that fight cost up to $300.

Commissioners themselves receive free entry because of their jobs. But Timothy Lueckenhoff, president of the Assn. of Boxing Commissions, a national organization, said asking promoters to admit guests lends the appearance that officials are abusing their regulatory power for personal benefit. The commission can "hold over their head" the ability to approve promoters' fights, license athletes, collect fees and state taxes on ticket sales and pay out winnings, he said.

"It's the appearance of inappropriate activity," Lueckenhoff said. Panel members' acceptance of promoters' largess could suggest that the businesses "are buying some sort of favoritism," he said.

State law requires that commissioners report as gifts anything worth $50 or more obtained from an outside company for anyone else, including friends and relatives. They are required to report their own free admission as well if they do not perform a function related to their jobs while at the event.

But only a fraction of the free entries were disclosed until The Times asked about them. One commissioner did not request admission regularly, the state records show. None responded to requests for comment.

Dave Thornton, the commission's acting executive officer, said that board members were in the process of amending their disclosures before The Times requested the records, and that his predecessor had told them that free admission for guests was "a routine perk of their position."

The revelations are another blow for the commission's parent agency, the California Department of Consumer Affairs, and for Schwarzenegger. He has pledged to make state government more efficient and to impose strict ethical standards, such as a ban he imposed three years ago on gifts to his aides.

Schwarzenegger recently overhauled the state board that monitors registered nurses after The Times and the nonprofit news group ProPublica disclosed major enforcement delays. Before that, the consumer protection agency's director and her boss quit in scandals over taxpayer-funded trips and illegal speaking fees.

On Thursday, as The Times was preparing to publish information on the free admissions, Schwarzenegger sent a letter to the commissioners reiterating that "appointees do not accept gifts" and directing them to follow his policy or resign.

The governor "continues to take aggressive steps to oversee these boards and commissions," Schwarzenegger's spokesman, Matt David, said after the letter went out.

On Aug. 6, Schwarzenegger paid the promoter $180 toward the $600 cost of the fight he attended Jan. 24 with his son, so as not to exceed the state gift limit of $420, David said, and John Cruz, Schwarzenegger's appointments secretary, was planning a similar payment. Such payments are supposed to be made within 30 days under state law.

The 80-year-old athletic commission is responsible for licensing fighters and promoters, safeguarding athletes' health and safety and managing a pension fund for boxers. Its inspectors, referees and other workers travel across California overseeing huge championship bouts, niche shows put on by promoters like Chaos in the Cage and events for select audiences at places such as the Playboy mansion.

The commissioners -- who work part time, earn $100 a day and usually meet monthly -- are Chairman Timothy Noonan, an insurance executive from Los Angeles; Mario Rodriguez, the commission's vice chairman and a business consultant from San Clemente; Howard Rose, a Beverly Hills talent agent; Peter Lopez, an L.A. entertainment lawyer; John Frierson, a former Los Angeles County deputy sheriff; Christopher Giza, a pediatric neurologist from Culver City; and June Collison, a healthcare executive from Etiwanda and a former Olympic runner.

The athletic commission keeps no formal record of the people for whom it obtains access to events that it regulates. In response to a request by The Times in late July, the panel printed a stack of e-mails between commissioners and staff discussing arrangements for events.

Those records, though an incomplete accounting, showed that in the last year and a half the agency obtained free admission for more than 50 people who did not work for the commission. Lists of guests who received access to events contained names of people not employed by the state, with no explanation of why they received admission.

Noonan has obtained credentials for at least four events for Stallone, a friend who spent time in the ring in the "Rocky" films. Noonan once gave his own credential to someone else, the records show, and assigned Armando Garcia, then the commission's top-ranking administrator, to make sure that guest and another person got in smoothly.

"Armando is planning on seeing you & Jeff this Saturday night at the Home Depot Center," Noonan wrote in an e-mail last year to one of those guests, Don Johnson [not the "Miami Vice" star]. "There will be a credential under your name, and because of my absence, Jeff is to use my credential. . . . Enjoy!"

Frierson obtained credentials for his pastor for one fight and invited a guest from New Jersey. He regularly placed his wife, Susie, on the free-entry list along with state employees.

Rodriguez has been granted free admission for at least 20 guests, including Schwarzenegger aide Cruz, since the beginning of 2008. In January, Rodriguez and Noonan attended the Margarito-Mosley fight with guests in L.A. on the same night they obtained admission for others to another show in Anaheim, former commission officials said.

Only Collison did not regularly seek free admissions, according to the records.

Before a weekend of three matches in January, William Douglas, the assistant executive officer, sent out a mass e-mail with a chart that commissioners could use to check their desired events and the number of guests they wanted. They requested at least 18 credentials that weekend.

"You assume that because it is a state agency and it is a regulatory agency that they're not taking advantage," said David Itskowitch, chief operating officer of Golden Boy Promotions, which has sponsored several major fights in the last two years.

Most of the free admissions still have not been reported to the Fair Political Practices Commission, the state's ethics enforcement agency.

In early August, after The Times requested information about their guests, Rodriguez, Rose, Lopez and Giza amended the disclosures they had filed earlier in the year to include gifts not previously reported. The revised filings said promoters gave them free tickets to events including a $600-a-head fight on May 3, 2008, between Oscar De La Hoya and Steve Forbes, and the Margarito-Mosley event.

Rodriguez, Rose and Lopez cut checks for hundreds of dollars to Golden Boy Promotions, one of the sponsors of those events, because the value of the tickets exceeded the state's annual gift limit from a single source, which was $390 last year and rose to $420 on Jan. 1. Noonan had done the same earlier in July as the state Senate was reviewing his reappointment by the governor, which is still pending.

In some cases those payments were made more than a year after the fight, despite the 30-day requirement.

    REFEREE: Ray Baleweicz

  13. IKF Amateur California Super Middleweight Muay Thai Title, 165.1-172
Chris Guerrero (Cameran Park, California, USA, 3-0/1, 172, 5'10", 3-28-90, Shon Moore, (916) 439-0309) defeated Lawrence Ward (San Francisco, California, USA, 2-2-1/0, 172, 6', 12-8-81, Boonkard, (415) 777-5888) by Injury TKO at 1:48 of round 2.
Ward split the front of his calf open on Guerrero's knee and possibly broke it. (Awaiting X-Ray results). We would have loved to see this go the distance as it was being fought as probably the best bout of the event.
    REFEREE: Ray Baleweicz

    Marlon Telmo (Fairfield, California, USA, 3-1-1/0, 133, 5'8", 9-20-77, Menlo Avestro, (707) 631-2687) and *Haizam Goles (Rancho Cordova, California, USA, 2-0 MMA, 137, 5'5", 10-27-89, Josh Atkins, (916) 239-8669) fought to a split decision DRAW, 39-37, 37-39 and 38-38.
(*) Goles was a last minute fill in after Roberto Morales dropped out.
    REFEREE: Dan Stell

  15. IKF Amateur California Cruiserweight Muay Thai Title, 186.1-195
    Joe Studabaker (El Dorado Hills, California, USA, 5-1/0, 192, 6', 5-8-81, Shon Moore, (916) 439-0309) defeated Eric Hunt (Fairfield, California, USA, 3-1/0, 193, 6'1", 9-12-83, Menlo Avestro, (707) 631-2687) by unanimous decision, 40-36, 40-34 & 40-34.

Illinois Commission
Throws In The Towel

NO SANCTIONING REQUIRED FOR FIGHT SPORTS!

For those who didn't know, Illinois has ONCE AGAIN changed their stance on Amateur Fight Sports. This is the 5th change of Amateur Fight Sport regulation in the State of Illinois in the last 12 months. Sounds like the tone of a former Illinois politician who now resides in our Nations Capitol...

As it stands now, the Illinois State Commission is not requiring ANY Sanctioning of ANY Amateur fight sport except for amateur boxing which is overseen by USA Boxing.

That's right, things can go back to the "Wild West" fight days the upper Midwest was known for with unsanctioned fights where weight spreads were never followed, matchmaking often favored the hometown hero and other rules? Well, it was a "We'll do as best as we can, as long as it doesn't hurt my show" attitude. Officials selected from the promoters "Friend" list, the ringside doctor is a Chiropractor, and who knows what else.

Sure, there are a few VERY GOOD promoters we know in the upper Midwest who do not sanction their shows all the time yet do an outstanding job when regulating their own shows. Some of them include promoters such as Duke Roufus and Rob Zbilski. Both has sanctioned events with both IKF Kickboxing and ISCF MMA in the past and both have also regulated their own events. Rarely could you see a difference in fair and safe regulation. However, this can't be said for many other promoters who tend to cut corners by cutting costs and in the end, cut quality from safety and fairness.

According to a strong source, the Illinois Commission pulled their own plug on requiring an approved amateur sanctioning body to sanction amateur fight sports in their state. The source also noted that a staff member of the State pointed the finger at Kick International for the decision. The source noted that because of the many complaints about KICK, the State did not want to force promoters to have to use a sanctioning body such as them, so they pulled the plug on their own rule. Hearing the complaint story was nothing new to anyone. MANY in the fight sport business have a horror story to tell about KICK, and many come from some of their strongest supporters of the past.

So, what does all this mean? Who really knows. The Illinois Commission has NO CLUE themselves it seems. Many calls to them over the last few weeks have never even been returned. It's like they are trying to avoid talking about the situation because they are embarrassed about it. Well, they SHOULD BE. The Illinois Commission has ALWAYS been vocal for their dislike of both Kickboxing and MMA. Illinois is a STRONG Boxing State and had tried to do everything they could to keep MMA away before finally giving in and saying "YES" to the UFC like most states do and for the same reason... MONEY!

However, their ego's got in the way when appointing officials for the UFC event and needless to say, some officials on behalf of the Illinois Commission should have NEVER even been at ringside attempting to regulate a sport the knew little if nothing about. That one UFC event will most likely be the last for UFC in Illinois due to the issues with officials.

With all that being said, the final rule in Illinois now is, "There are no mandatory Amateur Sanctioning Requirements for the State of Illinois for Amateur MMA or Kickboxing events. Events DO NOT need to be Sanctioned or Overseen By Anyone."

FRIDAY, September 11th, 2009, AT 9:00 AM/ PST

We here at the IKF Stand Silent Today For Those Lost and Those Remembered On
9-11-01

Where were you when the world stop turning on that September day
Were you in the yard with your wife and children
Or working on some stage in L.A.
Did you stand there in shock at the sight of that black smoke
Rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger, in fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry
Did you weep for the children who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below
Did you burst out in pride for the red, white and blue
And the heroes who died just doin' what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself and what really matters
I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I could
Tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us
And the greatest is love
Where were you when the world stop turning on that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Or driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty 'cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you loved her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes, hope it never happened
And you close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Or speak to some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watchin'
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some strangers
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

From the Song, "WHERE WERE YOU" by Alan Jackson

IKF NEWS...

IKF World Title Brings Plenty To The Ring!
"Fight Night at the Playboy Mansion"
Los Angeles, California, USA

Tomorrow night, the center stage at the Playboy Mansion will indeed feature women, but probably not the ones you would expect. The ones we are talking about not only have the looks, but these two come with plenty of ACTION! The action we are talking about will come from TWO IKF World Champions. One is the current IKF Women's Amateur Muay Thai Bantamweight World Champion and the other, the 2009 IKF World Classic Tournament Women's Amateur Muay Thai Bantamweight Champion.

Saturday night, current IKF Amateur Muay Thai Rules Bantamweight Champion Jenna Castillo (Left, 22-2/6) of San Jose, California, USA will face off against challenger and current 2009 IKF World Classic Muay Thai Tournament Bantamweight Champion Tiffany Connell (Right, 12-2/1) of Bradenton, Florida, USA for Castillo's first defense of her IKF Bantamweight World Title.

Jenna won the title on July 11th, 2009, at Phantom Promotions' "Fight Night At The Fox II", in Redwood City, California, USA when she defeated Gina Reyes by TKO when Reyes corner stopped the bout at the end of round 3. She has been practicing martial arts since she was 9 years old and holds a black belt in Shotokan karate and titles in several other disciplines not to mention, a Trophy room full of PLENTY of Gold!

Connell took the long road to her World Title at this years IKF World Classic Tournament in Orlando Florida where she had to win three fights in 2 days to attain her belt. Firs up on Saturday morning for her was a defeat over Angelica Henson of Jacksonville, Florida, USA by split decision, 30-27, 30-26 & 28-29. Later that same day she faced off against and defeated Christina James, of Cochrane, Alberta, Canada by unanimous decision, 30-27 on all 3 judges cards. The following day she met up with undefeated Tecia Torres of Moncaio, Oakland Park, Florida, USA. When the final bell sounded, Connell won the title by unanimous decision, 29-28, 30-27 & 29-28.

Jenna took the same route as Tiffany did at the Classic Tournament back in 2005 when the tournament was the North American Classic. However, for Jenna, she only had to fight once to win her IKF Tournament Gold in an impressive first round TKO stoppage of Mariea Snyder of High Point, North Carolina, USA at 1:18 of round 1.

Jenna also holds the IKF Amateur San Shou USA Bantamweight and USA Featherweight Titles. She won her Bantamweight title back on July 21st, 2001 in San Jose, CA when she defeated Katie Meehan than of Denver Colorado, USA by TKO at 1:56 of round 2. She went on to make a successful defense of the title when she defeated Christine Yandolli of Smithtown, Long Island, New York, USA by Unanimous Decision on December 15th, 2001 in San Jose, California. She won her Featherweight San Shou title back on July 24th, 2004 in San Jose, California, USA when she defeated Elizabeth DeCaussin of Los Angeles, California, USA by Unanimous Decision. Before winning her IKF Muay Thai World Title she had won the IKF Amateur Muay Thai Rules West Coast Bantamweight title on September 27th, 2003 in Fairfield, California, USA by forfeit when her opponent Lynda Loyce did not make the weight for the title coming in 1.5 lbs. overweight and refusing to lose the weight. However the fight was fought and Loyce won by decision without the title on the line.

Tomorrow nights bout will clearly be the best test for BOTH fighters! It will be the first ever "WORLD" title fought for at the Playboy Mansion where they have been hosting several "Fight Night at the Playboy Mansion" events from boxing to MMA including Scott Coker's Strikeforce show last year. Sadly this bout will not be witnessed by many of the average fight fans due to the cost of each ticket. General admission for one will set you back $970.00. However one thing is for sure, there will be some stars in those seats and who knows, maybe one of them will be so impressed with one of these ladies that their next stop may be on the big screen in Hollywood... After all, the Mansion is in LA...

A Day In The Life Of Muzammal Nawaz
KIAI Magazine Article By Veronica De Santos

Muzammal Nawaz will face current IKF Pro Light Middleweight World Champion Anthony "Powerhouse" Bartinelli of Phoenix, Arizona, USA on October 17th, 2009 for Bartinelli's IKF World Title in Ontario, Canada. This is a special article sent to the IKF to give some background on Bartinelli's challenger.

As a 4 time Pro Kickboxing World Middleweight Champion, Muzammal Nawaz puts himself through 2-3 grueling workouts a day when training for his professional bouts. He begins training 3 months before each of his bouts. His program is broken up into 4-week blocks with each block dedicated to specific goals.

After 32 professional bouts he has gained the experience of planning his training scientifically to ensure that he peaks his body and mind come each fight day. He is very methodical as he sets specific training exercises that incorporate goals, measurements and testing, each playing a pivotal part of his routine.

To a regular person his training program document resembles a complicated blueprint mixed with a research paper! But in the end it all boils down to hard work. 'I like the planning part of training, but in the end it is still up to me to put in the time and effort. " Says Nawaz. "At my age I have to work twice as hard as my opponents - most of which are almost half my age. There is no alternative to hard work - it is not success that drives me to work hard - it is inherent value in this journey.'

When you watch Muzammal train you will discover that hard work is what has made his career successful in the hard world of professional combat sport. Each of his training sessions last two hours and he is known to sweat off 8-10 pounds and burn off almost 2000 calories per workout! Whether training with a coach, or by himself, this world champion is driven by an incredible desire for excellence. His first training session begins at 4:30 am and his last session ends at 11:00 pm. He sometimes admits that he needs more time to sleep in his schedule!

Following his training regime would be a tremendous feat for anyone, but what makes his life as a pro athlete astounding is what he balances outside of his world of sport.

Muzammal trains a number of professional and elite level amateurs athletes, many of which are on the Canadian National team. He travels around the world with his athletes providing them with coaching and support. Muzammal is currently training five athletes for a World Amateur Kickboxing Championships in France and a Continental Boxing Championships in Ecuador.

He also runs his own kickboxing/boxing gym - the Bay Area Athletic Club (www.bacboxing.com) - in which he overseas and instructs classes 5 times a week. He focuses his coaching on developing leadership skills with children and youth.

When not training himself, coaching his athletes or instructing at his club, he spends a great deal of time in his volunteer role as the current President of the Council of Amateur Sport Kickboxing (CASK - www.kickboxingcanada.org).

CASK is the government recognized association for amateur kickboxing in Canada. CASK has over 60 member clubs across Canada with over 2000 registered athletes. The association has numerous programs and services they offer kickboxing/martial arts clubs from insurance coverage, providing coaching certification courses, sanctioning events to training and supporting National team athletes.

As President of the association Muzammal overseas the daily administrative functions, provides direction to the various provincial chapters, negotiates with governments for funding and support and works with member clubs. He spends countless hours a week in his role. But whenever asked of his involvement with CASK he is quick to mention many others that are actively involved in the association.

Sounds like a busy schedule?

We failed to mention that Muzammal calls his training, coaching, instructing and leading a national association his 'passionate hobbies!' He has a full time senior management career in the voluntary sector where he has worked for the past 10 years!

Between juggling his career, his status as a professional athlete and his work in the amateur kickboxing industry, he considers his #1 priority his family and raising his three young children.

When asked how he balances his workload when training for professional bouts, he smiles and then tells his secret. 'It is all about multi-tasking. For example when I am running I do my strategic and operational planning for work or for CASK. Every now and then I lose focus and miss some details or worse and get hit by a sparring partner! But I am fairly good at dividing up my attention!'

Watching Muzammal train with such intensity it is amazing to consider that he may be planning a conference or organizing an advocacy campaign in his head! He does point out that he does not multi-task in one area of his life. 'When I am playing with my 4 year old daughter,' he smiles, ' she takes too much energy!' he smiles.

AK Promotions
Scores A Knockout Show With Sellout Results!
Caley Scott Successfully Defends IKF Title!

Photos By Tommy T's Photographer Chris Kisela

One would have to have been in attendance to describe the intensity in the room at the Tommy T's Comedy and Dinner Theatre in Rancho Cordova, CA as IKF Championship Kickboxing Fight Night kicked off its first show promoted by AK Promotions. The only disappointment you would have had to deal with was finding a seat as there were none left. When we say standing room only, this is not a cliché, it was real and anyone there will tell you the same. Its clear that Kickboxing is as great as we here at AKP continuously say and we are so thankful for all of the fighters, trainers, family and friends that attended this excellent display of Feet and Fists of Fury!

Fighters and fans alike were pumped as the Wait Staff hustled to get them drinks and food. The music was blaring and the lights aglow giving a bit of Vegas ambiance as advertised. Announcer Wayne Wilson did an excellent job and kept with the beat of the night bringing each fighter to the ring with excitement and enthusiasm one would expect as such and event. Singer Lisa Gardenia did an awesome and very professional job performing the National Anthem. In fact, many feel it was her almost perfect delivery of the Anthem that put a positive start to the event.

In the final bout of the evening, IKF Amateur Muay Thai California State Champion Caley Scott of Concord, CA was able to hold on to his title with a close decision win over the tough Robert Cornejo of Milpitas, CA in a rematch. Pictured above/right, Scott shows Cornejo and future challengers of his IKF title that he can take a punch!

Also, seasoned IKF Point Kickboxing star Jesse Agricula of Sonoma, CA fell a little short in his first attempt in full contact in one of, if not the best fight of the night against talented Quincy Schoeman of Oakdale, CA. Although disappointed after his loss, Argricula can easily redeem himself as he fought like a warrior from start to finish. The crowd really got into this one and perhaps somewhere down the road these two will meet again. With a win over Agricula, Schoeman proved he is clearly one to watch.

Daniel Hodges of Rocklin, CA continues to move forward after defeating Laku Pellici of San Francisco. In one of the most exciting fights of the night, Super Heavyweight Casey Knowles of Oakdale, CA and Joel Morris of Vacaville, CA had the crowd on their feet throughout the fight! Both men showed a lot of guts and grit. However, the crowd often responded to the light footed Joel Morris as he came out of his corner with an arsenal of acrobatic kicks that were beautifully displayed and often landed clean. But Knowles hung in there strong as this fight would end in a well deserved draw.

Thanks again to everyone for assisting us in our quest for the Next Great Kickboxing Champion!

Next event is tentatively set for Sunday, December 6th, 2009. Here are the nights results below.

At tonights AK Promotions "IKF Kickboxing" at & Tommy T's in Rancho Cordova, California, USA, Mike Alfazi (L) of San Luis Obispo, California, USA (0-0, 5'9") thinks he may be the "Next Great Kickboxing Champion" but first he will have to prove himself against the very tough Jesse Gonzales of Vacaville, California, USA (0-0, 5'7"). IKF Championship Kickboxing
Brings A Little Bit of Vegas To
Rancho Cordova, California, USA!

AKP Press: The waiting is almost over and approximately 36 fighters with trainers, family and friends in tow will be traveling from across the State of California to Rancho Cordova to see if they can best their opponent in Full Contact Knockout Kickboxing action! So far, setting up the card has gone pretty smoothly and we hope that all continues to go well. One thing for sure, fighters and fans are jazzed about the show and hundreds of them are pledging to come and give their support. Many of them are curious to see how this will all work in a comedy and dinner theatre but may be surprise of the ambiance that the club creates for such a show. With a full Bar, spot lights, ring girls and great music, Las Vegas will feel like a step away as you enter the fight arena at Tommy T's Comedy and Dinner Theatre this Sunday Night!

The sport of kickboxing is definitely one of the most exciting contact sports in the world. Yes, it had to take a back seat the Mixed Martial Arts...at least for now but fans will let you know that they love this ultimate striking sport and will pay to watch it whenever they can. Kick boxers on the card and around the world are waiting for more opportunities to showcase their excellent skills and athleticism that's required to excel in this multi tasking sport. Kickboxing...like boxing takes years to acquire precise timing, speed, power with hands and feet that few ever get to this level. Although Kickboxing has been around for many years, there are yet many more years to come before it reaches it crescendo. The aforementioned statement also goes for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts...where you have a good puncher, or kicker or grappler but rarely do you see all of these skills amassed in one fighter. Some would argue that they are beginning to see this transformation but like Kickboxing, it will take many more years for mma to reach this pentacle.

For now though, both sports will be able to hold their own as both of them are exciting and fun to watch! As a promotions' company, AK Promotions is committed to promoting the sport of kickboxing and looking for future talented and recognizable Kickboxing champions. It's not that we may not venture into other areas as we already do, from festivals, to comedy shows, IKF Point Kickboxing, Grappling and perhaps even a few MMA shows down the road. However, just know, Kickboxing is our first love and passion and taking it to new heights is our ultimate goal. One thing for sure, whatever we do in the area, we will bring that Las Vegas appeal right to your back yard!

We thank all in advance for their support of the upcoming show this Sunday, September 6th at Tommy T's in Rancho Cordova, CA and the shows to come! Forward March!

For Tickets Call (916) 357-5233 or use your credit card at www.tommyt's.com or purchase them at the door.

Call Today and Order Your Tickets! They are selling Fast! For groups of 10 tickets or more and you want to sit in the same area, you can call and be seated together...ask for Cindy. Otherwise, the seating is open based on General and Ringside Seats.

"POWERHOUSE"
BARTINELLI

IN TRAINING CAMP

Bartinelli is three weeks into training for his upcoming title defense agents Muzammal 'Abu Zayd' Nawaz of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. The bout is scheduled for October 17th, 2009 in Ontario, Canada and on the line will be Bartinelli's IKF Pro FCR Light Middleweight title.

Nawaz has an impressive Pro record of 21-6-2 with 12 wins by KO/TKO, but an even more extensive amateur record of over 100 Bouts!

Bartinelli (KB: 12-1/11, Pro Boxing: 20-13-2/10 ) knows Nawaz is one of the best fighters to come out of Canada and one of the best fighters he will have fought in his kickboxing career. He is going to be training the hardest he has ever trained for a fight.

"I assure my fans and even those who don't know me that I will not lose this fight!" Said Bartinelli.

"This title will stay in the United States! My dream was to be a World Champion and now that I am the champion I will not let anyone take it away from me."

Although confident, Nawazof course has other plans.

Look for updates on Bartinelli's as well as Nawaz's training here on the news page!
