  - (*) At the 2002 USA Nationals, Bryse Holyoak defeated Ben Russell by split decision on the 3 judges cards, 29-28, 30-27, 28-29. However, the bout went under "Officials" protest. An "Officials" protest meant that the ringside bout representative questioned the decision as an IKF Official. After the event, a review of the bout was held at the IKF Headquarters. Although not unanimous, the majority of the 5 judges used to judge the bout by video review gave the fight to Russell. Rather than hurt either fighter, the IKF elected to award the title to BOTH fighters. Hopefully we can see a rematch someday.
  - Holyoak had a bye in round 1. In round 2, he defeated Christopher Salinas to make it to the above final by split decision, 30-27, 29-28, 28-29.
