A Champion's Heart…
Ed Abasolo's
Quest
To Become A World Champion
Muay Thai / Kickboxing Sensation!

It would not take a rocket scientist to see when one is talented beyond the normal scope. IKF United States Light Middleweight Champion Ed Abasolo of Vallejo, California, USA, 8-0) is on a quest to show the world his tremendous talent and heart. Those who have seen Abasolo at work all agree that there is something special about this kid. He is trained by Trey Howard of Vallejo, California, USA who has a stall of young, hungry fighters waiting to burst on the scene. Howard is confident in his fighter stating, "Yes, Ed is special and I feel that he will be a major player in this sport for years to come. He trains hard and is very disciplined."

In today's environment of Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai Kickboxing has taken a back seat in hopes that it will one day be thrust into the spotlight along with other high profiled contact sports. Techniques used in Muay Thai / Kickboxing - Boxing, kicks, knees and elbows are in many cases what makes MMA the popular sport it is today. In a general discussion with most MMA fans, they love the stand up part of this sport more than anything. What that says about the sport of Muay Thai / Kickboxing is not only that it is a viable sport but is only a few steps away from being back in the spotlight. (Abasolo pictured left landing elbow on opponent)

Highly skilled fighters like Abasolo are the type of fighter's that could help propel the sport to where it deserves to be. He is indeed one of the best technicians in the game! With a Sugar Ray Leonard like edge and fighting style, Abasolo mesmerizes fight fans with signature spinning elbows, strong kicks, impressive and slick boxing techniques combined with well-timed gut-busting knees! He takes a few shots buts gives a lot more making his fights that much more exciting! One might go as far as saying the beautiful black and gold cape and essentials to his wardrobe he wears entering the ring, gives him a sort of super hero persona but of course his legacy remains unproven as he is only in the infancy of his career.

Just recently, his participation in the IKF West Coast International Kickboxing Classic held in Sacramento, California, USA, he was the talk of the event. Not only did he have one of the toughest divisions in the entire tournament, one of his fights, he blew through formerly undefeated Jordan Decker (5-0) of Mesa, Arizona, USA by 1:25 of round 1. In his Championship bout he faced Aleksandar Naumoski of San Jose, California USA (9-4) who he had to show what he had inside to dig out a close unanimous decision, 30-27, 29-28 & 28-29.

Either way you look at it, when it was time for him to pull out the additional tools needed to get the win, he dug deeper to do so. Still an undefeated fighter at 8-0, we are not sure of his seemingly endless arsenal but for sure we will see a lot more of Abasolo especially if he can get past Damien Earley of Arizona.(Right)

Earley has built a solid reputation in his area racking up a 12-1 record. In speaking to some from the Arizona area, they report that Earley is highly skilled and has a very good chance of beating Abasolo. Lets just keep it real, beating Abasolo is no easy task! Almost everyone who has seen him fight, has pretty much said the same, "This kid is a beast in the ring!" However, if Earley can pull this one off, no doubt, he will deserve the title of World Champion.

By the way, if there were a common opponent it would be the very tough Alexander Naumoski of San Jose, California, USA. Word has it that the only loss on Earley's record was handed to him by Naumoski. As noted above, Abasolo and Naumoski fought in the IKF West Coast Classic a few weeks ago. Naumoski gave Abasolo all he could handle on Championship Sunday, but Abasolo was able to weather the storm enough to impress judges to get the win. Most observers said it was a very close fight. Although Abasolo pulled out the victory when Earley could not, it basically shows that all of these guys are perhaps in the same skill bracket and who knows who may walk out a champion. The real answer may only lie deep within each of the combatants...In a word..."Heart"... The question is, WHO has the most and who wants it more? We can't wait to find this out! (Left, Abasolo shows off his kicks)

Ed Abasolo is fully supported by his wife Bernedet who also trains in Muay Thai. He is a father of one, great big bother to his little sister and two little brothers and has a belief in God that will pull him through any situation.. He will have to call on all of his tools and faculties on Sunday, January 15th, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento, California, USA. If he can take out Earley in impressive fashion, fight-world look out! Abasolo's charisma, skill, humility and great personality will take the world by storm and gladly induct this future super star to the real and exciting world of celebrity sports entertainment!

Muay Thai Kickboxing Action...
Kicks Off New Year!

MLK Weekend, Sunday, January 15th, 2012
Doors- 3:30, Fights 5:PM!
Fight Fans Get Tickets Now!

Its almost here...
another exciting LIVE Muay Thai Kickboxing production presented by
Johnny Davis' AK Promotions!
Sunday, January 15th, 2012!

MLK Weekend will not only be for millions around the world giving homage to a great man who preached peace and gave a sense of hope to all mankind, but it will also be a weekend for athletes coming together in sport to showcase their skills, demonstrating respect and discipline while entertaining the packed house of spectators!

The Doubletree Hotel located at 2001 Point West Way in Sacramento will be the meeting place for this occasion of approximately 15 bouts that will take place in the squared circle to see who reigns superior with feet and fists fury! The show will kick off as previous shows have with a traditional Lion Dance presented by Gee Yung Lion Dance Assoc. of San Francisco. The Lion Dancers will bless the arena in a beautiful ceremonial performance just in time for the Chinese New Year.

This show will be a particularly special occasion for two fighters as they challenge for a shot at becoming the top Light Middleweight amateur fighter in the world for the International Kickboxing Federation ( IKF). Damien Earley (See Poster at Right) of Phoenix Arizona (12-1) will go head to head with undefeated Ed Abasolo (See Poster at Right) of Vallejo, California ( 8-0 ). This should be an excellent fight and testament to great skill and will power!

Others taking center stage that evening will be Dee Alhadi of San Jose, California battling Alec Gonzales of Vallejo, California for the IKF Lightweight Muay Thai title in full rules which includes the use of elbows.

Coda Taylor of San Luis Obispo, California will take on Brandon Del Guadio for the IKF California Super Middleweight Championship in full rule Muay Thai. This should be a good matchup as both trainers are well known in the fight industry and should have both fighters ready for the test!

At press time, IKF Full Muay Thai Rules West Coast Super Welterweight Champion Quincy Schoeman, (7-3) of Oakdale, California is in the process of seeking a new opponent for another title opportunity as his opponent, Anthony Acosta of San Leandro, California was injured in training for the fight. Those interested with the right skills and ready for the challenge can contact AK Promotions at (916) 205-4762.

However, there will be no limit of great action on this holiday Sunday evening! Here is a short run down of some anticipated fights that should delight the fans!

Skilled Rich Davis (L) of Rocklin, California who many have witnessed his impressive kicking and boxing technique in semi contact IKF Point Kickboxing competition and a few full contact fights will be taking on long awaited rival Gary Grant (R) of Antioch, California. Both men have been eying each other for years and were suppose to meet at last Fall's IKF West Coast Classic that was recently held in Sacramento at the Radisson Hotel...a tournament much like the IKF World Classic which resembles the Golden Gloves in Boxing. Based on the weight classes each fighter signed up for, Davis was unable to make the weight...allowing a walkover win for Grant. This time around, there will be no excuses and both men are expected to come in ready and able to do battle! The big question is...who will be able to walk out of the ring with bragging rights? Who's willing to give the extra 10% to get the "W"?...it all remains to be seen! This should be a delightful battle between two heavyweight fighters seeking to carve their path in the world of Kickboxing.

Additionally, tall and slim fighting machine and IKF/PKB prodigy Robert Burgess (L) of Ceres, California will fight local Modesto rival Jamie Pheap. If Burgess can get by Pheap, there's sure to be a title opportunity in the near future. For those who may remember 6'3" Eric Regan out of Roseville, California who was an IKF Champion Kickboxer and later won a title in Pro Boxing, to see Burgess in action is almost identical to that of Regan.

Both Burgess and Pheap are from the same area but different gyms and both are seeking to prove who has the better training :)...yep, should be high drama in this one! Trainer/ fighter Ivan Ramos of San Leandro will take on Elvin Deleon of Vallejo who stepped in to replace Phil Devera of San Jose. Ramos was originally scheduled to fight Devera but due to reason out of his control, Devera had to pull out but is looking for another shot at Ramos down the road. Ramos, as well as Deleon's team always brings a big crowd, so this fight should be full of electricity!

Here is what if for sure...
This will be a remarkable evening for Muay Thai Kickboxing and one that you must mark your calendar to attend!
Tweet, text, Facebook, email or call your friends and let them know the place to be on Sunday, January 15th...at the Doubletree in Sac-town!
Tecate beer will be on board as well as beautiful ring girls, blasting music and lights! Get your tickets now as this event may sellout!

Things also look good for Bell Tran (6-1) to make his first defense of his IKF Full Muay Thai Rules California Bantamweight Title next month, on Sunday, February 19th, 2012 at AK Promotions Oakland, California event. Tran won the title this past October 8th, 2011, in Oakland, California when he defeated Ron Jacildo by unanimous decision, 48-47, 48-47 & 49-46. His challenger will be IKF West Coast Classic Champion - Marlon Telmo of Fairfield, California (6-4).

Side Note: AK Promotions is also making resolutions to make it a momentous year for the sport of Muay Thai Kickboxing in the State of California.
They are planning seven to eight shows throughout Northern California including being the promotional partner of the IKF's, IKF West Coast Muay Thai Kickboxing Classic in Sacramento in the Fall of 2012!

They continue to pursue a TV Deal, larger sponsors etc. all to help take the sport to its deserving place in sports entertainment. Your support of AK Promotions is always appreciated.
