10-25-02: Jason Ross
(Southaven, Mississippi, USA, 7-1/5, 186, 5'8", 24, 9-4-78, Ken &
Jimmy Blann, (662) 393- 8311) was registered and scheduled to fight Scanlon in the first morning bout on Saturday. The
winner of their bout would fight Thompson in the last morning bout. The winner
of that bout would go on to fight Jardine
in the Night final. This would mean, to win it all, Ross
or Scanlon would have to fight 3 times in
1 day. A faxed letter was received from Ross' trainers, Ken & Jimmy
Blann on October 24th, 2002 that stated, After review of the Tournament
format, Mr. Ross will not attend the
event. We are sad at the loss of such a great fighter for this event, however,
we respect the decision of Mr. Ross'
trainers and agree, three fights in one day is a lot with the competition
involved in this division, mainly Thompson (23-0/13) and Jardine
(7-0).
Although we stated in the beginning of this event, some fighters may
have to fight as many as 3 times on Saturday, this would have been the only
situation where this could have happened. Hopefully next year this will be a 2
day event so this will not be an issue. We hope to see Mr.
Ross in future IKF events.
