By IKF Representative Clement Veirra
IKF Promoter Richard Williams did a great job with this event. It was an in gym (Smoker Style) event so the first six fights were not scored. However the last 2 were fully regulated bouts with more experienced fighters. The action was so great you wouldn't know the difference though. All the fighters and gyms involved had a great time in the action packed event, full of awesome fights.

Special Thanks to Richard Williams and the Golden Cobra Center of Fitness and all their Sponsors.

  1. JUNIOR AMATEUR MUAY THAI RULES
Mardquez Mestas (9, 69, Golden Cobra) VS Sammy Baily (9, 71, One Kick Gym)
For just being 9 years old these two fighters put on a great fight. Hope we can make this a real match next time.

  2. AMATEUR MUAY THAI RULES
Phil Gage (21, 160, Blended Arts Dojo) VS John Madina (23, 155, One Kick Gym)
It was a good match back and forth, but I saw John Madina just a little better from round two on.

  3. JUNIOR AMATEUR INTERNATIONAL RULES
Randy Barrientos (18, 225, Bulldogs Garage Gym) VS Juan Munoz (30, 217, Golden Cobra)
Randy came out hard with good leg kicks and some hands he did very well.
In the 2nd Round Juan came back with good hand combos with leg kicks. It was a good round for both but Juan did better at the end of the match.

  4. AMATEUR MUAY THAI RULES
Kevin Underwood (28, 180, Blended Arts Dojo) VS Chris Wildoulsky (23, 175, One Kick Gym)
Both fighters came out hard, but Chris was just too strong.

  5. AMATEUR MUAY THAI RULES
Brian Smith (23, 230, Bulldogs Garage Gym) VS Sedrick Sweet (23, 210, One Kick Gym)
It was a good match, hard fighting from both fighters. Sedrick was just too much for Brian, but there was no stopping Brian, he was fighting to the end of the match.

  6. JUNIOR AMATEUR INTERNATIONAL RULES
Jacob Kelewood (19, 175, Bulldogs Garage Gym) VS Dorian Dixion (18, 170, Rosales Kickboxing)
Dorian had good hand and feet combos and was the better fighter for the match. However there was no stopping Jacob who fought hard to the end.

  7. SCORED BOUT
    JUNIOR AMATEUR INTERNATIONAL RULES

Jessie Duran (16, 135, Golden Cobra) VS Christian Lopez (16, 130, Blended Arts Dojo)
The first round was an all out war and if I were a judge, I would have called it a draw.
Round two was back and forth, but Jessie came back at the end of the round to win the round.
Round three was going more for Jessie so the round went to Jessie who also won the bout. Great Fight!

  8. SCORED BOUT
    AMATEUR MUAY THAI RULES

Justin Gaines (29, 230, Blended Arts Dojo) VS Luke Dradesk (20, 220, One Kick Gym)
It was a good fight from the start to the finish. Luke had good hand and feet combos.
In round one, Luke hurt Justin with some of those hand and feet combos but Justin kept on fighting hard.
Round two went to Luke again but not by much, mainly due to Justin being tired, but was still trying hard.
Round three was back and forth but Luke had more at the end to win the round and the fight. Aanother Great Fight.

IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing©
In World Games!
Sacramento, California, USA

IKF/PKB divisions will be in the
Super Grands World Games

In Sacramento, California

Come one...Come All!

By Johnny Davis- President of IKF Point Kickboxing
It's ok to dream! Just work hard and they may even come true! I remember as a youth practicing the martial arts and participating in Karate tournaments almost every weekend across the country. After years of hard work and dedication, I would be noted as one of the top rated karate tournament sparring competitors on the East Coast. Years later, I would win one of the most coveted Grand Championships in the world…The Battle of Atlanta. This tournament was held in Atlanta , GA and hosted approx. 1500 competitors. I competed in the Black Belt division which had over 300 very experienced competitors and some of the best point karate fighters in the world! In order to compete and win this division, you had to rock and roll… fighting as many as 8 to 10 times to win the grand prize that consisted of a huge trophy and cash! I remember after winning this tournament and a string of other grand championships, my friend telling me that " what you really need to do is go to the Super Grands…winning that event says even more than the winning The Battle" I was a little taken aback by the comment but later realize the Super Grands was indeed a bigger prize to win. As time past, I never got the opportunity to attend the SG. Instead, I pursued a full contact Kickboxing career and as some of you know, I would eventually win many titles including two world championships respectfully. But this year, and some times as fate would have it and approx. 25 years of hard work, I received perhaps a bigger honor to be apart of the Super Grand World Games 2010.

It's been approx. nine years since I produced my version of semi contact Kickboxing called IKF Point Kickboxing©. We now have thriving circuits in California , Florida , Iran and North Carolina and forming circuits in areas like, New York and Kenya to name a few. This division was new to many here in the US but has been going on for years in areas like the United Kingdom etc. What we did was coin and copyrighted a term that really fit what we were doing and why perhaps it comes off ones lips as second nature. Point….came from all the years of point karate fights I did but also means the fights are judged only on a 10 point must system, continuous fighting and NO KNOCKOUTS ALLOWED. Kickboxing…meaning - it incorporates the main three styles of kickboxing- Hi, low kick and Muay Thai Kickboxing. We have been committed to keeping our fighters safe while having the most fun in a fair environment and this treatment of all competitors and spectators will continue as we march forward.

IKF Point Kickboxing since its inception has produced quality, better skilled kickboxers and indeed serves as one of the leading incubators to rebuild the sport of kickboxing. Young fighters like, Katrina " The Storm" Nahe, who started IKF/PKB fights as early as six years old and has since won two junior IKF World Classic title and a regional title in Full Contact fighting. So many others like, Daniel Hodges, Jon Pryor, Sean Cronin, Gary Grant just to name a few in the State of California started in IKF Point Kickboxing and now pursuing full contact fights with better honed skills and confidence than those who did not start in the IKF/PKB incubator process.

This year, on Tues. December 28th, 2010, IKF Point Kickboxing divisions will be a part of the largest martial arts tournament in the US if not the world. Yes, through a lot of hard work and rejections, IKF Point Kickboxing is finally getting its shot on the main stage of martial arts by being a part of the Super Grand World Games 2010 held this and next year in Sacramento, CA from Dec. 26th to Jan. 31st, 2010. Yes, its ironic that it will be held at the very same place I already do my IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing Full Contact shows. I guess you can just call it hard work and fate! :) There are so many that can take some credit for success of the IKF/PKB over the years. Although, I'm careful about name dropping, I feel I would be remiss if I did not thank a couple people that I know were directly involved in this grand step forward. First, IFS / IKF CEO Steve Fossum, who believed in the concept and agreed to join in with me to give it the worldwide appeal by sanctioning all events.

There is also Mr. Dennis Guila, of Antioch, CA who brought his club to our very first event back in 2002 at the Evergreen Community College in San Jose, CA and supported the tournaments for many years.

Mr. Sean Griffin of Indian Trail, NC deserves thanks for being the first IKFPKB Representative and promoters outside of the State of California where the IKFPKB was originated. To this day, he has continued to promote events in that area with constant growth.

Thanks also goes to Rubi Navarro and Carlos Navarro of San Francisco, CA for their contributions to its growth. A special thanks to Mr. Ray Delgado, who was the first major karate tournament promoter to step to the plate and allow us to come into his event. Mr. Delgaldo's karate tournament host several hundred martial artist and being in his event began to show others the vital role IKFPKB could play in their events. As of late though, Mr. Jordan Pallen President and Mr. Tim Calvin Vice President of the AMAPA Group based in Northern, CA have really been very active pushing the concept and name of IKFPKB to their group and others like CEO of the NBL and SKIL organizations and promoter of The Super Grand World Games Mr. Boice Liddell.

A special thanks to all new leagues that are signing on like the California Black Belt League ( CBBL) owned by the Merefuentas Brothers in the Modesto, CA area and new comers Premier Martial Arts, who have schools in many states across the country, every State Representative, trainer, fighter, spectator or judge that has come out and assisted with an IKF Point Kickboxing event...THANK YOU! Additionally, the work of Jerry Mendez and Daniel Pineda in Florida can not go un-noticed as they have had several events in that area. Jerry Mendez is currently working on starting an IKFPKB league in New York City.

After the IKFPKB inception, I began to have dreams and envisioned the day that it would be accepted on the world stage of martial arts and be a part of tournaments across the United States. Being a part of The Super Grand World Games this year, is truly an honor and an indicator that the sky is the limit for years to come as IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing is introduced to more states, and countries! See the 2011 IKFPKB Calendar as it is currently forming at www.IKFPKB.com ...Hope to see you Tues. Dec. 28th, 2010 in the Capitol Room of the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento! Forward March!

Kickboxing Returns To Sacramento
On MLK Weekend...Doubletree Hotel!

Plus, Adds New Fight Venue! Welcomes The Sacramento Heatwave Basketball Team & Inferno Dancers!

AK Promotions posted their first date for their IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing Championship fights with the California Athletic Commission to be on Sunday, January 16th, 2011 at the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento, California. The three day Holiday weekend celebrated as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday is an excellent weekend to host such an exciting sporting event for those in the area looking for something to do with the extra time. In the past year, these events have witnessed packed houses in the Grand Ballroom of the Doubletree Hotel and have gotten rave reviews from spectators as a must see event! Some of the best Kickboxers in the State fight on this show and with great action, music, lights, cameras, etc... It's like Las Vegas in Sactown!

Local champions will headline the fight card featuring.. newly crowned IKF Welterweight Muay Thai Champion Daniel "Hitman" Hodges of Rocklin, California will be stepping up to fight for the IKF West Coast Title taking on undefeated contender Anthony Gonzales of Dublin, California.

Additionally, IKF United States Champion Jon "The Hawk" Pryor of Sacramento, Champion will defend his title against tough Josh Kretchmann of Elk Grove, California and Plus, headlining the show will be the conclusion of the IKF United States Super Heavyweight Championship elimination tournament between 265lbs Manny 'Macho Man' Mancha of Elk Grove by way of Fresno, California taking on 250lb John Hurny of Dublin, California.

Both fighters ended their last bouts on October 8th, 2010 in one round with spectacular knockouts! Hurny scored a huge overhand right to KO, 6'8" Xavier Vigney of Vallejo, California and Mancha took out Hugo Dominguez of Patterson, California in only 14 seconds of the first round with a huge kick to the head!

Another deal has been confirmed with AK Promotions and local Strikes Entertainment Center in conjunction with Coaches Sports Bar (Below) of Rocklin, California and Elk Grove, California. AK Promotions will be promoting a series of smaller events at these well equipped facilities complete with state of the art lighting, sound, full bars, restaurants, bowling, arcades, rock climbing and large screens throughout the entire facility.

Coaches Sports Bar's quaint atmosphere will provide a perfect fight night for any sports fan! Coaches Sports Bar is the closest thing to a Las Vegas Casino short of being at an actual casino. The first show at Coaches Sports Bar will be held on Friday, March 11th, 2011 at their Rocklin, California facility located at 5681 Lonetree Blvd. in Rocklin, California.

However, due to the size of the venues, those interested in attending will need to purchase their tickets as soon as they go on sale or risk the high probability of the event selling out because of the large following for Kickboxing and AK Promotions events in the area.

Although these shows will be in smaller venues, they will not be scaled down in quality as they will have some of the best fighters in the sport on the card with great food, drinks and entertainment! As a backup to selling out the venue, there will be an overflow party room where fight fans can... for a cheaper price, see the fights on huge wall to wall projected screens... complete with table, chairs, food and drink service. Additionally, you will have to be 21 or over to the attend these exciting fights as it stands right now.

AK Promotions also announced that the exciting Sacramento Heatwaves Pro Basketball team and their Inferno Dancers (Below) will also be at the January 16th event at the Doubletree. Players will be on hand to meet and greet the fight fans and the dancers will entertain the crowd throughout the evening between the exciting fights.

For the first half of the year, AK Promotions is planning an exciting fight season for fans to enjoy the great sport of IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing. Kickboxing is one of the greatest contact sports on the planet! AKP is determined to show the world why Kickboxing deserves to stand beside other contact sports and is always seeking sponsorship partners.

AK Promotions is also pleased to announce the continued support of Markstein Beverage distributors of Budweiser Beer of Sacramento, California for 2011.

Results From Pete Foley's
"Seasons Beatings 3"
December 4th, 2010 - Galway, Ireland

  • WHO: Pete Foley
  • WHERE: The Black Box Theatre, Dyke Road, Galway, Ireland
  • WHAT: IKF Kickboxing
  • IKF Representative: Miss Catherine Cullinan
  • IKF Event Referee: Mr. Pat John Mc Cool, Mr. Joe Wilson

  • PROMOTER: Mr. Pete Foley, Galway 00353 87 8119227

With the country virtually shut down for most sporting fixtures due to the extreme weather conditions, it was nice to see at least one event go ahead in Galway in the Black Box Theatre and that event was the "Seasons Beatings 3" Full Contact Kickboxing & K-1 tournament on Saturday night. It was supposed to headline with an Ireland VS France team event featuring well known Galway fighters Nicola Collins (IKF World Bantamweight Champion), Cathal Manning (IKF European Super middleweight Champion) and Charlie Ward (IKF Junior All Ireland Light Welterweight Champion) but it all fell apart on Friday night when Aer Lingus pulled the plug on the flights from Geneva and the French team were unable to travel. On top of that, Gary Manogue was supposed to make a mandatory first defence of his IKF All Ireland Title to Tralees Hugh Harris but Harris injured himself in training on Thursday and the fight was pulled.

Decisions had to be made and it was looking as though the show would be cancelled as the main events were gone and on top of that a lot of fighters and coaches from around Ireland were unsure if they could travel due to bad road conditions. However, after several phone calls and pledges of support it was decided to go ahead and it turned out to be a cracker of an event after all. It featured eleven fights including three IKF All Ireland Titles up for grabs. Even though the crowd was down a bit, the atmosphere was still electric. Big up to all the fighters and coaches who braved the elements to get to the show and fought out of their skins. Also to our sponsors, officials, set up/down crew and medical staff and DJ Pa Murphy who kept everybody entertained.

Here are the nights results below...

  1. IKF JUNIOR 56kg AMATEUR FCR
    IRISH BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE

Connor Doyle (Kilkenny) VS David Ryan (Shannon)
This was a fast paced contest which went the distance with Doyle winning by Split decision, 49-48, 49-47, 47-48.

  2. AMATEUR FCR, 65kg
Philip Delaney (Galway, Ireland, Galway Black Dragon Gym) defeated Ross Vorolha (Dublin, Ireland, PMA) by TKO in round two.
    • Ross Vorolha has been issued a medical suspension of 30 days due to his TKO, until 3rd January, 2011.

  3. AMATEUR FCR, 63kg
Valerie Hamilton (Galway) VS Shauna Kinsella (Dublin - San Shou).
Valerie Hamilton from the home camp was next and she stopped Dublins Shauna Kinsella with a Roundhouse kick to the face in the third round to win by TKO in an excellent contest between two very talented young ladies.
    • Shauna Kinsella has been issued a medical suspension of 30 days due to her TKO, until 3rd January, 2011.

  4. AMATEUR K-1, 64kg
Feidhlim Dunne (Galway) defeated Evan Walker (Dublin) by TKO Round 3.
    • Evan Walker has been issued a medical suspension of 30 days due to his TKO, until 3rd January, 2011.

  5. AMATEUR FCR, 58kg
Clodagh Foley (Galway) defeated Chloe O' Brien (Waterford) by unanimous decision, 30-25, 30-25, 30-25.
This was Clodaghs first fight back after an absence of almost 5 years from the ring and two kids later.

  6. AMATEUR FCR, 65kg
Troy Holohan (Kilkenny) defeated Martin Murray (Galway) by Majority decision, 29-29, 29-28 & 29-28, in one of the best fights of the night.

  7. AMATEUR FCR, 75kg
Noel Tierney (Cookstown, N.I.) defeated Ezra Nolan (Galway) by unanimous decision, 30-28, 30-28 & 29-28.

  8. IKF JUNIOR AMATEUR FCR
    IRISH JUNIOR LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

James Ward (Galway) VS Sean Murtagh (Dublin).
Ward started fast firing off punch and kick combinations to the young Dubliner Murtagh's head and body and easily won the first round.
The second round saw much of the same with little or no comeback from Murtagh as James was on fire now and determined to win that belt. Midways through the second round James landed a front kick to Murtagh's face which stopped him in his tracks and the Referee stopped the fight giving James victory by TKO and the coveted IKF All Ireland Title by TKO in Round two.
    • Sean Murtagh has been issued a medical suspension of 30 days due to his TKO, until 3rd January, 2011.

  9. AMATEUR FCR, 69kg
Darryl Orr (Donegal) defeated Bryan Merrigan (Galway) by Majority decision, 29-28, 30-27 & 29-29.

  10. IKF AMATEUR FCR
    IRISH SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

Ann Marie Bergin (Kilkenny Champion) retained her title in defeating Jennifer Baranyai (Galway - Challenger) by Split decision, 49-47, 48-47 & 47-49.

  11. AMATEUR K1, 64kg
Eric Daly (Galway) VS Cian Cowley (Dublin).
The main event featured Gort man Eric Daly who fights out of the Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing Club taking on tough Thai Boxer Cian Cowley from Dublin in a K-1 rules contest over three by three minute rounds and this one really got the crowd going. This fight was originally set at 64 kilos and Daly came in just over at 64.1kg but Cowley tipped the scales at 65.7kg which was a good bit over but both camps agreed to go ahead.
The action was fast and furious with the taller Cowley being more superior with his knee strikes but in fairness to Daly, he dug deep and the fight went the distance and to the judges who hailed from Tipperary Town, Waterford and Kilkenny and one went for Cowley, one for Daly and one sat on the fence which resulted in a Split decision draw.
As agreed in the pre fight meeting of these fighters, the fighters didn't want a draw and went at it for a 4th round, much to the delight of the fight fans. This time Daly sealed the deal when he came at Cowley like a bat out of hell as he knew he had been given a second chance. Cowley stood his ground however and fired back but Daly was far busier and more accurate this time around and all three judges went for the Galway man in an exciting finale to a great night of sport.
Winner, Eric Daly by extra round decision.
