The first IKF Point Muay Thai Kickboxing Tournament was nestled inside Terry Gore's Karate Tournament that hosted over 300 competitors. Although the IKFPKB divisions were not big the first time out, fighters, fans and trainers are raving about the excitement they witnessed at this event.

Mr. Gore said "I love it and the fans loved it! I want it back next year…this is some real exciting stuff!"

One of the youth's trainers who competed for the first time said "He found his place in contact sports after trying many others. He told his grandmother the other day, I only want to do the IKF PKB going forward!"

These comments about the excitement of IKF Point Muay Thai Kickboxing are not new and have been going on for over a decade in other parts of the United States. Now, the Southeast Coast is getting a taste of what many have known for many years that IKF Point Muay Thai Kickboxing is here to stay and will continue to be the premier incubator for the future Kickboxing champions!

      After already trying to lose weight prior to her official weigh-in, when Meg Farham came to the scale to get weighed in the first time, she came in overweight at 134 lbs.
      By regulation, Farham could only lose 2 lbs after her weigh-in, which would have still put her outside the maximum spread (5 lbs) since Colleen Saylor came in at 125.

Promoter Scott Harper brought International Kickboxing Federation sanctioning action back to south Georgia this past Saturday, March 8th, 2014. The Southeastern Arena in rural Nicholls, Georgia, was the scenic venue for the mixed card of IKF Kickboxing, grappling, and amateur and professional mixed martial arts. The "Throwback and Throwdown" event had a 1980s theme. Sponsor girls were dressed like the artist Madonna from that era and the audience had a costume contest. This event representative enjoyed hearing music from his high school days all evening. The card featured two international rules kickboxing matches with rising talent from the area. Results are as follows...


IKF JUNIOR AMATEUR INTERNATIONAL RULES
LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT

These two novices put on a great show for the crowd of 2,000 surrounding the cage. Both fighters eager to get it on, round one opened with Durden landing a solid body kick that brought a roar from the audience. Manzano followed with an aggressive boxing game and the remainder of the round was back and forth between the contestants.
Round two saw Manzano pursuing more with brawling and Durden evading with accurate punches. The round ended with a light knockdown by Durden.
In round three, Manzano landed a big hook to the head of his opponent. Durden went on to eventually reply with a tremendous body hook that was well executed behind a jab. IKF referee, Jeff Kemp stopped the action this round, following several warnings, when Manzano spit out his mouthpiece for the final time.
WINNER: Dalton Durden by referee stoppage due to Disqualification at 53 seconds of round three.

This match showcased a new talent like a young Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson versus an iron-willed opponent. Sumner opened this fight with a good front kick to his opponent's body. Fuller soon hit his groove with excellent footwork and counters. Fuller landed a spinning backfist and Sumner closed out the first round with some leg kicks.
In the second round, Fuller's opponent had no reply for his footwork, counters, and conditioning. Fuller ended the round with a good flurry.
In the third round, Fuller continued his Thompson-like footwork and counters while Sumner preserved against the better conditioned fighter. Fuller hit a good front kick to the face that brought the crowd to their feet. Eventually, Sumner landed a good right cross that did little damage.
WINNER: Jacob Fuller by unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27.

Although not the scheduled match up for the IAB title, these two fighters served up a cracking display over the 5 round duration. Manzolo was the replacement but had 3 weeks notice and came to fight. Williams started with the better skills but Manzolo closed him down early so that he couldn't work his combinations. The rounds were tight but followed a universal pattern that saw Manzolo do just enough work to secure the contest and the title.

This was a rematch following an explosive battle between these two in December. Both men started carefully but it was the southpaw Crow that stepped up a gear first. Hicks followed him and by the middle of the second round we had a real battle on our hands. Hicks took too many shots on occasion but always came back strongly, although it was never really enough to secure the rounds. A mid-way knockdown saw Crow move into a handy lead but Hicks knew that Crow was prone to fading late on and came on hard in the last two rounds. Both men looked as though they may take counts again but they made it to the final bell, with James Crow being crowned the new champion.
