    • The unstoppable Phoebe Cumiskey continued her demolition of this division as she put up another impressive performance against the fancied Gwenaelle Dumenil of French with an impressive record of 30-2 coming into this contest. Dumenil began with fast combinations and looked to be an awkward proposition. But you could almost feel the focus and determination from Cumiskey who shrugged off the early onslaught and changed gear almost immediately.
      Towards the end of the first round, although competitive, Cumiskey was landing harder and more often. In the second Dumenil tried to keep at range but Cumiskey went through the gears again and had the French girl stumbling. The referee let it go to give her the opportunity to recover, but soon was forced to step in to save her. The fighter of course, wanted to continue. But the stoppage was absolutely correct. Cumiskey must surely go on to the World title, and as she is growing up fast, it's just a matter of time before she hits the adult scene - and that will be very, very exciting!

Once again IKF promoter Vinny O Brien put together a fantastic evening of Full Contact, Unified (K-1), International Rules and Junior Kickboxing (Light Contact) in Lawlors Hotel in the scenic South East of Ireland town Dungarvan. With 16 well matched action packed fights, a full house of extremely vocal but very sporting spectators, great sound system, beautiful ring girl, professional MC and two All Ireland Titles and a World title for the main event, it really was a one stop shop of kickboxing for everybody.

It was nice to see coaches from other organizations there to support the evening and have their fighters take part. It was also great to have The WKA President from Northern Ireland Mr. Wilson Snoddy in attendance and one of Pete Foleys former students from Kilkenny (head coach at Dragons Lair) and now ISKA President, Owen Doye. This proves beyond a doubt that IKF Ireland has an open door policy where everybody is welcome to bring their fighters along and even have the chance to fight for IKF Titles. With all the politics going on in Martial Arts these days its great to see the IKF rise above all that nonsense and put the sport that we all love first, making the IKF almost a common de-nominator for want of a better word for Kickboxing in Ireland.

    Tiernan Ryan (Deise Kickboxing, Dungarvan) and Tommy Harty (Shannon Kickboxing) fought to a majority draw, 19-19, 20-20, 20-19.
    A very good Junior fight to warm the fans up.

    Connor Power (Deise, Dungarvan) VS Alex Roche (Tipperary Black Dragon)
    Good display of skills by both kids.
    WINNER: Connor Power by majority decision, 19-19, 20-19, 20-19.

    Rihanna Lynch (Deise, Dungarvan) VS Megan Harty (Shannon)
    These two young ladies are always up for a bit of a scrap and they didn't disappoint.
    WINNER: Rihanna Lynch by unanimous decision, 20-19, 20-18, 20-18.


  4. IKF AMATEUR FULL CONTACT RULES
    Bradley Rice (Larne, N. Ireland, 2-1, 62kg, 5'11, Wilson Snoddy)
    VS Corey O Malley (Galway, Ireland, 2-1, 58kg, 5'10'', Pete Foley, 087 8119227)
    Corey O Malley took this fight just before the show started and had to borrow equipment and mould a mouth guard and he also gave away weight.
    He did it because Rices opponent pulled out the morning of the fight and Rice had travelled a long distance, a 5 hour drive.
    WINNER: Bradley Rice by unanimous decision 29-28, 29-28, 30-28.


  5. IKF AMATEUR FULL CONTACT RULES
    Eoin Roche (Wexford, Ireland, 2-0, 79kg, 05-17-97, Billy O Sullivan, 085 8589902)
    VS Patrick Karasinski (Kilkenny, Ireland, 2-1, 80kg, 174cm, Paul Cummins)
    Two big lads slogged it out but Roche was that little bit stronger on the night.
    WINNER: Eoin Roche by unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-28, 29-28.

    Rachel Lyons (Larne, N. Ireland, 3-2-2, 57kg, 09-04-87, Wilson Snoddy)
    VS Anna Damazyn (Dungarvan, Ireland, 1-2-1, 56.7kg, 188cm, 01-14-88, Vinny O Brien, 083 4218676).
    These two ladies really went at it but Lyons hand was raised at the final bell.
    WINNER: Rachel Lyons - Awaiting details of the Decision by IKF Ireland.

    Peter Sheppard (Galway, Ireland, 1-1, 91kg, 6'1'', 01-04-85, Pete Foley, 087 8119227)
    VS Darren Troy (Ireland, 0-1, 90kg, 172cm, 03-23-96, Vinny O Brien)
    This was a well matched fight between two big strong men who both gave as good as they got but Sheppard was more accurate and showcased the superior kicking skills.
    Troy was game almost to the end but was taking some shots in the third and the referee had seen enough.
    WINNER: Peter Sheppard by referee stoppage in round 3.
    Darren Troy has been issued a 30 day medical suspension by the IKF until October 12th, 2016.


  8. IKF AMATEUR WOMEN'S FULL CONTACT RULES
    IRISH FLYWEIGHT TITLE DEFENCE
    Gail Snoddy (Champion- Belfast, N. Ireland (13-10-2, 52.7kg, 5'4'', 05-09-80, Wilson Snoddy, 07766447179)
    VS Lisa Moloney (Challenger - Tipperary, Ireland) 52.8kg, 5'4'', 06-27-96, Craig Sutton, 087 9682833)
    Gail Snoddy travelled five hours by car to Dungarvan earlier in the year to fight for the vacant title and won. She then made a mandatory defence in Galway a couple of months later and won and then travelled to Dungarvan to make a second defence to an even stronger opponent this time around and won again.

    She put in a great performance against Moloney who too was on fire and the fight will go down as on of the best female fights of the year. Well done to both girls.
    WINNER: Gail Snoddy by unanimous decision, 49-48, 49-46 & 48-47.

    Fast paced fight with both youngsters going for broke and not giving an inch. Geleziunas had some reach on Ring however and used it to his advantage and got the nod at the end.

    This was a real slogging match between these two men and although Barry Hearns only accepted the fight the day before, he put on an admirable performance but he wasn't fit enough to put enough power in his shots and Mc Grath capitalised and took the win.
    WINNER: Connor Mc Grath by unanimous decision, 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27.

    This fight had all the makings of a war but Roche hurt his leg in round two and the referee called it.
    WINNER: Jonathan Walsh by Referee stoppage due to strong low kicks.
    Michael Roche has been issued a 30 day medical suspension by the IKF to heal his legs until October 12th, 2016.

    ALL IRELAND SUPER WELTERWEIGHT TITLE DEFENCE
    Adam Coleman (Lismore, Ireland, 21-7, 69.5kg, 5'6'', 09-23-92, Vinny O Brien)
    VS previous champion Bryan Merrigan (Galway, Ireland, 16-9-1, 69.5kg, 5'9'', 05-02-83, Cathal Manning, 085 1255365)
    This fight was an absolute war with Coleman coming out of the traps like a bat out of hell and catching Merrigan with some good shots in the first few rounds.

    Merrigan however, had seen it all before and weathered the storm like a true champion. He took whatever Coleman had to offer and proved he was still dangerous as he caught Coleman with some big right hands and a cracker of a roundhouse kick to the head in round four.

    Coleman walked through Merrigans shots and proved that he too had a good chin and fired back some big shots to finish the round. The final round saw both men really go at it. Merrigan fired a spinning backfist which missed but he then turned into another roundhouse that landed flush on the chin and would have put most men to sleep. However once again Coleman shook it off and fired right back.

    To be fair to Merrigan, he had been inactive for over two years but when a challenge came in for his title he accepted without question. He had also changed camps in the meantime and had two different coaches from two different clubs in his corner. Both who were shouting instructions in his ear during the breaks. Although the two guys were experienced, it was their first time to corner him.

    Merrigan used to fight out of Pete Foleys gym in Galway and it was kind of surreal to see two of Foleys former students Cathal Manning from Corrib Kickboxing in Galway and Owen Doyle from Dragons Lair in Kilkenny cornering him this time around.

    The number one challenger for the title now is Adam Keane from Black Dragon in Galway and this is set for sometime in the new year. If Merrigan wants another shot sometime down the line, he'll certainly be considered as he showed he is still very worthy of it.
    WINNER: Adam Coleman by unanimous decision, 50-45, 48-46, 49-46.

    VS Fiachra Bond (Bray, Ireland, 6-4-1, 52kg, 5'2'', 10-27-00, Stefan Moriarty) )
    This fight was always going to be a war as both young men are fit, skillful and up for a scrap. They certainly did not disappoint and although Healy took the win this time around, Bond will surely come knocking on the door again.
    WINNER: Ciaran Healy by unanimous decision, 39-37, 39-37, 40-37.


  15. IKF AMATEUR FULL CONTACT RULES
    Cian Mc Cormack (Galway, Ireland, 18-1, 66.1kg, 5'11'', 12-08-98, Pete Foley, 087 8119227)
    VS Ian Callinan (Carlow, Ireland, 5-4, 67.7kg, 5'7'', 06-09-86, Diarmuid Maher, 085 7680586)
    Mc Cormack was due to fight a different opponent but he took ill on the week of the fight and a replacement was brought in the name of Ian Callinan. Both young men went to war from the opening bell with Callinan wanting to close the distance and Mc Cormack looking to fight from distance. Callinan had a busy first round but on advice from his corner Mc Cormack started to incorporate his lead side kick and stopping Callinan from closing the gap too quickly. Mc Cormack showcased some good boxing skills also and landed some crisp uppercuts. In the last round a jump spinning kick to the face of Callinan who in fairness took it well and fired back. A good hard action packed contest between two fit guys but at the bell it was Mc Cormacks hand that was raised. The two showed great respect for each other and both men said it was their toughest fight to date.
    WINNER: Cian Mc Cormack by SPLIT decision, 29-28, 28-29 and 30-28.

    WORLD LIGHT CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE (VACANT)
    Brett Egan (Ardmore, Ireland, 21-3, 84.5kg, 6'2'', 05-16-86, Vinny O Brien, 083 4218676)
    VS Jonas Valancius (Lithuania, 15-6, 84.5kg, 186cm, Saulius Seskevicius)
    The main event of the evening saw local hero Brett Egan take on teak tough Lithuanian fighter Jonas Valancius over five action packed rounds that had the fight fans on their feet throughout.

    Egan started the fight fast with some crisp leg kicks which is unusual as he normally likes to settle into things gradually. Valancius however, certainly didn't come for a vacation and answered back with some solid punches of his own. The action continued like this for the remainder of the contest with Egan showcasing excellent footwork and slipping in and out of range and looking to take the Lithuanians leg home with him. On the other hand, Valancius was trying to land a big left from his Southpaw stance.

    Egan's corner twigged the Lithuanians plan from the early rounds however and Valancius never landed the big shots even though he did land some good glancing blows throughout.

    Egan was a man on a mission though and his good footwork helped him absorb anything Valancius threw and he landed some great low and high kicks over the course of the fight. At the final bell the laurels went to the hometown boy who was declared the IKF Amateur Light Cruiserweight Champion of the World.
    WINNER: Brett Egan by unanimous decision, 49-46, 50-45 and 49-47.

In DEFENSE Of The IKF

Some Issues have come up in regards to an event that was recently held on Native American land here in California. Sadly, the IKF is being blamed for disrupting the Amateur Muay Thai portion of this event. However, all the IKF did was inform an IKF Official who was working the event for another organization, the rules in regards to Native American land events created by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).

Below is a link to these rules, which were created in relation to the IKF's sister organization for MMA, the ISCF (International Sport Combat Federation) which was created in 1999 and had been sanctioning MMA events in Northern California for some time on Native American land in California.

Without saying any names, this other organization thought the ISCF was basically taking business from them. So, because of the events the ISCF was sanctioning on Native American land, this other organization pushed to have the rules and regulations attached to this post as part of the CSAC Rules, Regulations and Guidelines in regards to events being held on Native American land here in California.

If you read it close, and know what took place on the same promoters event back in July, 2016 and this past August, you will see that the organization broke the very rule they pushed to be created and made a part of the CSAC regulations for events on Native American Land. Rules and regulations the IKF, ISCF and IAB has upheld and followed since the moment they were implemented.

We hope this answers any questions in regards to the cancellation of the Muay Thai bouts on the August event and why the promotion and this other organization cancelled them. It's sad that the promoter has chosen to blame the IKF for the disruption of his event when in reality the blame should have been directed to the very organization he hired to sanction his event. If and when necessary to continue our defense with more information, more details in regards to this issue will be posted on the IKF News page in the coming days. Hopefully this press release will be enough.

The IKF means no harm to anyone involved in this matter in making this post. Our only necessary goal in posting this is to defend our good name in light of others who failed to take responsibilities for "ALL" of their own actions. Integrity is a strong and valuable part in anything anyone does and something the IKF, ISCF and IAB and the International Fight Sports organizations don't take lightly.
