IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Results From February 25th, 2017.
Mr. Don Rodger of Triangle Kickboxing Promotions put on his Lightning Strikes Kickboxing Show this past Saturday night and the results were outstanding! This being his third edition, it was an almost sellout crowd at the Durham Armory located in Durham, North Carolina, USA. The packed house of fans were not disappointed as the fighters showed a lot of heart and determination… and brought the enthusiastic crowd to their feet on several occasions! If you love standup fighting, then you will love what Mr. Don Rodger is bringing back to North Carolina!

Not only is he being a trailblazer in promoting the sport but working directly with the North Carolina Athletic Commission to improve clarity in the rules that are currently outdated for kickboxing although it's been on the rise in surrounding states in recent years! The first part of the day started with an IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing tournament that saw many new young fighters show up and get their feet wet in this semi contact competition and by all accounts, they really enjoyed themselves while competing in this safe and controlled environment. Mr. Rodger as well as the IKF PKB are hopeful that these newcomers will indeed …come again, again as they will continue to grow and improve their skills.

Special thanks to all of the clubs that brought fighters to participate but in particular the club from Roanoke Rapids, NC. They brought several youngsters to this event and showed great sportsmanship and courage which is obviously coming from their head trainer who has the same demeanor. Manu Ntoh and Bryan Keith proved this weekend that Georgia is truly a great place for Kickboxing! Although MMA has dominated the fight scene for the past 20 or more years…the resurgence of Kickboxing in Georgia made a strong entrance this past weekend as the Madhouse Gym in Smyrna hosted its first of several IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Events for that area.

In fact, they were so impressed with the event that they put three more on the books…The next one being Saturday, April 8th! Mark your calendars for this event that brings together surrounding gyms for a great day of exciting semi contact Kickboxing sparring for Men, Women and Children!

Let me say this off the bat…
Too be honest, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a nicer gym than Mr. Manu's! To put it simply…It's like the Bellagio of Gyms and that is not an exaggeration! You will have to go by and see it for yourself! The entrance is merchandised like a luxury boutique store of fight pictures aligned in perfect symmetry, merchandise well organized in glass display cases, well stocked concessions of food and drinks! The bathrooms are not only clean but also have nicely placed – rolled hand towels on the counters! Showers, washer and dryer, big screen TV's throughout the club, endless bags lined up on the four walls of this dual facility that's fit for the elite as well as the novice fighter who is serious about their training! You can get it all at Team Manu's Madhouse Gym!

For the first event, you only have to give very high marks to everyone who participated. The trainers who brought their fighters to compete had great attitudes in victory or defeat! The fighters were eager to fight and learned this new format of fighting and developing their skills and I think most would say that they enjoyed the event…while others learned that while they may have enjoyed it, they now have a new direction for their training! Although, there were a couple of disqualifications for contact, the fighters were very responsive to instructions and were respectful throughout.

The fans were also enthusiastic and vocal…encouraging every fighter on the mat give 100%! The staff also did an excellent job as well and it was not long before they had the program 'down-pat' and running like a well oiled machine!

Future IKF events will be coming to the Georgia! Fans of the sport of Kickboxing can rest assure their sport will be presented well and flourish into a new form of sports entertainment that will no longer be marginalized! Kickboxing is a great sport and whether it's IKF or other inspired events, Georgia will begin to recognize and honor the value of its athletes and begin to give them the respect deserving by having them represent themselves in proper form! Enough said…Forward March!
