Getting Current With The Times...
Changes Are Coming Within The IKF, ISCF & IAB.

So...
Is it me or has pretty much EVERYTHING gone up in price? As I review our expense sheets from the previous year, it's not hard to see that the one column that is pretty much blank (like others in fight sports and other businesses that rely on gatherings of the public) is the income column. So far, we have not sought out or applied for any government or any other financial assistance that some companies have attained. We just feel those dollars need to go to those who are in far greater need that we are.

Still, we need to keep the doors open and in doing so, I've see anywhere from a 15% to as much as a 60% rise in costs (Products, Merchandise, Equipment, Services) for pretty much everything we purchase to operate all our businesses.

These things include but are not limited to:

  • OFFICE SUPPLIES
    • Toner, paper, pens, batteries, light bulbs, etc.

  • UTILITIES
    • Power, phone, internet, water, sewer, etc.

  • INSURANCES
    • Building, business, personal, auto, events etc.

  • EVENT EQUIPMENT
    • Copies, glove tape, printing, computers, etc.

  • BUILDING MAINTENANCE
    • Repairs, upgrades, basic maintenance, etc.

  • COMPUTER EQUIPMENT
    • Updates, upgrades, renewable licences, etc.

  • AUTOMOTIVE
    • Fuel, repairs, basic maintenance, etc.

  • COMPANY PRODUCTS
    • Merchandising, membership costs, etc.

  • COMPANY MISC
    • Designing, merchandising, membership costs, domain renewal, shipping, etc.

  • AND LOADS MORE...

I know we're not the only business seeing these price increases. The sad reality is how to cover the increases. Increases by one company basically force everyone down the line to raise their fees just to break even.

We have always had pride in knowing our fees have ALWAYS been less than out competition. ALWAYS. In the last 5 years we've only had 3 of our fees increase and those increases were under 5%. Over the last 10, we've made less than 10 price increases in our fees from sanctioning to memberships to merchandising and other fees.

As President, I've always tried to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

So I've NEVER been a fan of raising any of our fees. However sadly, it seems we, like many of the businesses we deal with, are getting backed into a corner and those increases are being forced to come. As always before, we will do our best to continue to keep our fees as low as possible while providing more than one pays for in service, quality and regulation of the fight sports around the world.

Sincerely
Steve Fossum
