"CATCH WEIGHTS" This
is when say a Light Welterweight fighter at 140 lbs and a Welterweight at 144
lbs fight. What you need to look at in this case is the most narrow
weight spread, which is always in the lower weight class of the two.
For Light Welterweight, the weight spread is 5 lbs. where is as in the
Welterweight class it's 7, it goes to a 5 lb. spread.
A fight can only happen inside the limits of the weightclass the lightest
fighter. So for this example, (Light Welterweight at 140 lbs and a Welterweight
at 144 ) this would be OK as a catch weight. However if the Light
Welterweight fighter was 138 and the Welterweight at 144, that's 6 lbs, and it
wouldn't be allowed.
