World Champion
Friday, June 29th, mark your calendar and plan to be at the Doubletree Hotel's Grand Ballroom in Sacramento, CA early to get the best seats! Why? Because you will be one to witness what could be one of the most heated battles in IKF Full Rule Muay Thai Kickboxing in years between two very talented and determined fighters! These two young men will be displaying the best of LIVE Muay Thai Kickboxing in front of what is expected to be a full house of fight fans! Yes, we are talking about the world title defense of the always exciting and highly skilled and undefeated Ed Abasolo of Vallejo, California, USA. (9-0) Abasolo is a standout in any arena. Charismatic, sharp looking with a swagger, Abasolo is the man to beat and knows it! Not only is he a very nice person but carries himself well and loves his family as he and his wife's affection for each other is often displayed on their Facebook pages about their close relationship and their love for their fairly newborn child. Abasolo who won his IKF Light Middleweight World title back in January of this year with an excellent display of technique and in the end knockout out power to finish Damien Earley (12-1-5) of Arizona in the final round of the action - packed fight! He did so just as it seemed that Earley was getting stronger but instead, it was Abasolo that dug deeper to show why he deserves to be a world champion. The crowd, mostly part of Abasolo's huge following that he has built in route to achieving his world championship status went absolutely wild with exuberance as you can expect they will again be in abundance for his upcoming bout! This past November, 2011 was one of Abasolo's strongest tests, and a taste of what's to come this Friday night came at the 2011 IKF West Coast Classic Tournament (held at the former Radisson Hotel but is now called the Woodlake Hotel 500 Leisure Lane) in Sacramento, CA. This event had 185 registered fighters with some full eight men brackets in an elimination where the best becomes champion and would be a major test for any true Kickboxer. When Abasolo's day was done at the end of the tournament he was crowned the champion of his division bracket that had some of the most talented fighters in the tournament. It was from this event that Abasolo proved that he deserved the world title opportunity a few months later against Damien Earley. Abasolo's toughest fight at the West Coast Classic was his Championship bout... Meeting him across the ring was yet another man who wanted it as badly as Abasolo and in the end of their toe-to-toe battle, many were confused about the decision and some were flat out disappointed that Aleksandar Naumoski of San Jose, CA, (Abasolo's challenger for his World title this Friday night) was not the winner. (Left Abasolo lands elbow Strike) Before Abasolo and Naumoski met in the Championship bout, Abasolo had already defeated undefeated Jordan Decker of Mesa, Arizona, USA, (Now 5-1) by TKO at 1:25 of round 1. Naumoski also made quick work of his opponent in defeating Kevin Bee of Costa Mesa, California, USA by TKO at 1:35 of round 1. When Abasolo and Naumoski met up on Sunday, both were well rested and ready for battle! In the opening round it was clear that Naumoski had Abasolo's number and did not give in to the flashy and cagey moves that Abasolo normally displays in his exciting fights. Instead, Naumoski stood in front of Abasolo, occasionally pinning him on the ropes and bombarding him with rapid elbow strikes...some landing and some missing the elusive Abasolo who will sometimes drop his hands and challenge his opponents to hit him as he plans his counter attack! Their match was exciting to watch and one of the best fights in the tournament! Immediately following this epic fight, talks of a rematch was in the air. In the end, Abasolo held his own and with a calm coolness and techniques executed beyond his years, he won over the judges by unanimous decision, 30-27, 29-28 & 28-29. However Naumoski and others felt they had won the match and this is why his team is anticipating this rematch with every ounce of their being...and the fact that it's for Abasolo's newly won IKF World Title just adds more fuel to the fire and Naumoski is looking for full redemption. If Naumoski were to pull off an upset victory, we are pretty sure there will be a trilogy to ultimately prove who is the best between these two West Coast talents and who will move on to bigger things to come. Finally, Naumoski's trainer, former multi time kickboxing champion Derek Yuen of San Jose, CA says his fighter is biting at the bits to take full advantage of this opportunity and is confident that his guy can take out Abasolo. Abasolo is talented! Naumoski is skilled, tough and very determined! He will be a very dangerous opponent and some feel that Abasolo's title and undefeated record may be in jeopardy. Some have even brought an age old saying, "It's easier to go after a title than to defend it..." Something former IKF World Champion Jon Pryor discovered last year when he lost his first World title defense on October 8th, 2011 in Oakland, California, USA to Skylr Pena by unanimous decision, 48-47, 49-46 & 49-46. Those fortunate enough to get to Sacramento on June 29th, will witness a candidate for fight of the year in this main event of the evening...no joke!....Don't take a chance...get your tickets now and you will see an exhibit of full rule action every minute of their scheduled 5 rounds! Tickets www.AKPromotions.org! Interview with Ed Abasolo on Phillipine TV
In the semi main event, Aber Bouttavong (Left) of Sacramento, CA who trains with former fighter Andy Khensamphaph (Andy K) head trainer and owner of Muay Thai Lao will be taking on Anthony Aurellio of Vallejo, CA. Aurellio, like Abasolo is trained by Kru Trey Howard also of Vallejo. Aurellio may be talented and coming to do damage to Bouttavong but those who have witnessed Bouttavong in the ring...well, it's like another day at the office. Never will you witness a young fighter as this with such calm and calculated skill that keeps you at the edge of your seat as you wonder what will he do next? Bouttavong, is not a one dimensional fighter as he seems to be more versatile than the traditional Muay Thai fighter. In any case, the undefeated Bouttavong brings a complete arsenal of techniques and the confident Aurellio will need to be ready for anything on this night if he is to claim the prize of the IKF California Featherweight Championship that's on the line. Aurellio is coming in Bouttavong's back yard and will have yet another disadvantage as Bouttavong's league of followers has been growing at a rapid pace. Aurellio, will not be alone, though being apart of the Warriors Gym which has teams in Sacramento and Vallejo, CA and will have his as well as Abasolo's fans cheering him to what they hope will be a victorious night! This match-up will be a good one too and one that fans will be talking about months later!
This LIVE edition of IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing will also showcase some talented junior bouts. With one of the junior being for an IKF title. Jason Raceles (13 years old, 95lbs) of Sacramento, Ca will take on Juan Barajas (13 years old, 95lbs) old out of Fresno, CA for the "Junior" Amateur Modified Muay Thai Rules California Junior Cruiserweight Title. Barajas like Abasolo is also a 2011 IKF West Coast Classic Tournament Champion. Both boys have a wealth of experience and will make for a great fight for fight fans. Both Raceles and Barajas will bring their best to show that they are the future of the sport. Each time AK Promotions showcases juniors on their nighttime shows, they become an instant fan favorite. Witness for yourself why the future is bright for our sport as the incubator is loaded with talented up and coming fighters! As always, AKP will bring the mix of Las Vegas entertainment in Sactown with a full and diverse lineup of talented fighters from across the state of CA and Nevada! Music by DJ Marlow Bucajit of Fairfield, will keep the house jumping to all the latest sounds! Ring announcer Wayne Wilson of Sacramento will keep the action moving throughout the evening! DVD's will be provided by Cliff Ingram's California Fight Videos while photography and picture CD's will be produced by Chris Kisela. The normal AKP professional staff will be on hand to make sure that everyone gets the best treatment and service as they prepare for an exciting evening of fight entertainment. And yes, the ring girls will be there to meet, greet and mingle with all the fans. Cobra Source Magazine will also be on hand to film all the fun, interview the fans and fighters and make everyone feel special! Coming up Friday night, June 29th, 2012, Johnny Davis' AK Promotions will host yet another IKF World Championship Promotion. The event will be held at the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento, California. The show is set up in a Las Vegas fight night environment and along with the great Muay Thai Kickboxing action, the night will also offer great drinks, food and music.
The main event of the evening
will be the always exciting
IKF
Amateur Full Muay Thai Rules
Light Middleweight World Champion
Ed Abasolo
(Left, Vallejo, California, 9-0, 5'10", Trey Howard)
His challenger will be Top Contender
Aleksandar Naumoski
(Right,
San Jose, California, 9-4, 5'9", Derek Yuen)
This matchup will be one of the best fights of the year! Many are aware that Abasolo is extremely talented.... However, so is his challenger! Naumoski who sports a mohawk, is a serious, take no prisoners type of fighter and is not only coming for revenge, but to set the record straight as to who is the best Light Middleweight Muay Thai Fighter in the World!
At last Novembers IKF West Coast Classic Tournament, in Sacramento, Abasolo defeated Naumoski by unanimous decision, 30-27, 29-28 & 28-29. Some at ringside saw it closer, while others even thought Naumoski should have won. Regardless, BOTH will be coming to set the record straight this Friday night and only one will walk away with the IKF Gold around their waist!
AK Promotions has also been trying to match up IKF Women's West Coast Classic Tournament Champion Cat Feeley of San Francisco for another shot at IKF Gold but no challenger has stepped forward as of press time.
However, Sacramento's own bantamweight rising star, Aber Bouttavong (West Sacramento, California USA, 3-0, 122, 5'6", 10-26-92, Andy K) is confirmed for his shot at IKF Gold when he steps in the ring against eager and tough Anthony Aurellio (Concord, California, USA 3-2, 122, 5'6", 6-2-87, Trey Howard ). Bouttavong and Aurellio will be fighting for the vacant IKF Amateur Muay Thai Rules California Featherweight title.

Last year we had 175 registered fighters by end of
"FIRST" Deadline
for the 2011 IKF World
Classic... Well, say good-bye to that record because by the end of
the day last Friday, June 8th, we SMASHED THAT RECORD!!!
Last year we broke this record by "1"...
However, this year
we broke the record by..."65 FIGHTERS!
That's correct!
This year we had 65 more fighters register
before the FIRST of 6 Deadlines. By nights end we had 240 Registered
Fighters for the 2012 IKF
World Classic and we still have until July 6th for the
Final Registration Deadline!
On the REGISTERED FIGHTERS PAGE - (Click) it shows under 240. However, this is because we have 8 fighters who registered on Pay Pal and Fight Sport Insider that did not list their fighter stats or send to the IKF their actual "Fighter Registration Form", so we can't post them yet. Still, even if we took all 8 away, we still broke last years record by over 50 fighters!
Here are the records we have already broken or are on the verge of breaking for the 2012 IKF World Classic...

IKF World Classic
NEED YOU!
With the 2012 IKF World Classic Tournament coming soon, we wanted to ask if there are any qualified Kickboxing and or Muay Thai Officials that would be willing to help the Amateur Athletes accomplish their dreams at this years 2012 IKF World Classic Tournament. We are not into the "Politics" of the sport so don't think we are only looking for "IKF" Officials. We are looking for Kickboxing and or Muay Thai officials from any and all organizations (ISKA, WKA, USMTA, Etc.) or state boxing-athletic commissions. We would be proud to have you share your skill and talent as ring officials with the hundreds of athletes, trainers and other officials this year. To see who is currently on our list go to www.ikfkickboxing.com/WCOfficials.htm There are more names to be added on this page before the event and we would be proud as well as grateful if your name can be added too.
We know there are a lot more Muay Thai & Kickboxing Officials around the world and we need them to help out if they can. Again, they do not have to be IKF Registered Officials. We welcome ANY and ALL Qualified Kickboxing and Muay Thai Officials to the Tournament.
We are always in need of Judges, Referees, and Timekeepers. We are also looking for those who want to be a part of our Tournament Staff to help with other aspects of the Tournament. If you can help out we here at the IKF are not the only ones who would be Grateful for your assistance. The fighters and other already confirmed Tournament Officials would greatly appreciate it too!
We will have a special private dinner for all officials on Saturday night, but we need to have a head count for the hotel within a few weeks, so if you can be a part of this years 2012 IKF World Classic Officials Team, please e-mail ( main@ikfkickboxing.com ) us your name and what kind of official you are qualified as. We will also give you meal vouchers for all your meals on Saturday and Sunday that can be used at the restaurants in the hotel. This way, if you want to have dinner with your friends, you can go on your own without having to wait for anyone else.
If you are an experienced and qualified Kickboxing or Muay Thai official that can help out at this years 2012 IKF World Classic Tournament, we would love to book you now. We will provide your IKF Officials Polo Shirt at no charge and your help pays for your IKF Officials license for the next year. We request you wear black pants if a referee, judges and timekeepers may dress as desired, but clean and neat please. To volunteer for an officials position please e-mail us at main@ikfkickboxing.com and in the subject line, make sure it says, IKF WC Official.
Thanking you in advance for your help!!!

2012 IKF WORLD CLASSIC NEWS...
Summer has arrived and so has the time to get registered for the 2012 IKF World Kickboxing Classic (July 20th, 21st and 22nd - Orlando, Florida, USA). This event is one of the most prestigious events for Amateur Kickboxing and Muay Thai in the world! Those who are "In the know" - know that this event is one that should not be missed especially by those serious about their future as well as adding the words of IKF World Classic Champion to their resume. | ||
The ever-growing IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Division has been growing in leaps and bounds in the past few years at the World Classic. This year, several gyms are promising to bring out as many fighters as possible that will only make the tournament even better! As usual, we expect an even bigger group to enter for later registration this year, which is as late as Saturday, July 21st at 12:Noon. The competition will start at 6:PM to be the evening entertainment on July 21st for the World Classic. Men, Women and Children as young as 5 years and up can compete, as long as there is someone in their division to fight. The action will be hot but of course as always, the semi contact rule is in full affect as there are NO KNOCKOUTS ALLOWED in IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing. There will be divisions in IKF/Point Muay Thai, International Hi Kick and International Low Kick styles. However, sometimes we have to mix and match to assure everyone coming gets a fair fight. Those who are planning to bring their fighters really need to know the difference in this competition and what will be going on in the main arena. The semi contact rules must be paramount. However, in saying this, we encourage you to use your speed instead of power and focus on the points and you will have a great time at this event! Moreover, BE IN SHAPE, the 2 2 minute rounds with 1 round of OT is in affect for this event. We will modify it for the Junior Fighters, but be in shape and ready to rock as these rounds seem a lot longer than it sounds on paper. Competitors will receive beautiful trophies and awards. NEW LOCATION In addition to semi contact, The IKF World Classic will again have the best divisions of Full Contact bouts with divisions in Muay Thai, International Hi Kick (Full Contact Rules) and International Low Kick styles. Well over 200 fighters will travel afar to prove one thing they are the best! By request of several trainers, this will also be the first year the IKF World Classic will have a Novice Division. This division was successful at the IKF West Coast Classic this past November, 2011, so the IKF is trying it out for the World Classic. However, the IKF World Classic Championship "BELTS" will ONLY be awarded to fighters in the "OPEN" Divisions... This is where Only "THE BEST" will compete and Only The BEST will Win an IKF World Classic Belt! Some will come with an illusion of greatness and others will come with a vision for victory but either way, their destiny will need to be decided in the ring! When you get a ton of fighters, trainers and pumped up fans in one room hungry for a fight and hungry for a win its going to be a lot of fireworks going off even if the 4th of July has past! We look forward to seeing your there! Remember, Register Early and Save! Forward March! |
