Regional Tournament

Registrations have begun for the IKF North Central Muay Thai and International Rules Regionals on April 28th & 29th. This year the 2006 IKF North Central Regional Competition heads North to Tinley Park, Illinois.

The "Standoff Classic" will include an exciting Daytime Tournament followed by an explosive Finals Event with featured mixed martial arts bouts. The North Central tournament will include fighters from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota.

The venue for the event will be the beautiful Holiday Inn Tinley Park Convention Center (Left). The Convention Center boasts a 200+ room hotel, with an indoor pool, and the Bananas Bar & Grill restaurant. North Central Regional Kickboxing Tournament Fight Results

Thompson hosted the 2006 IKF Muay Thai and International Rules Regional Kickboxing Tournament on Saturday, April 29th in Tinley Park, IL. The "Standoff Classic" drew in over 5 dozen fighters to compete for seating as the 2006 IKF World Classic Kickboxing Championship approaches. It was an outstanding event and our complements to Ron, James and Brian on hosting such a quality event.

  • The event opened Saturday morning with the Preliminary Bouts:

      5-18-06: After video review of this bout today, "At This Time" the IKF is ruling this bout a "No Contest".

      WHAT HAPPENED: At 18 seconds of the first round, Both fighters are clinched against the ropes. Smith has Kauder around the waist and Kauder's arms are around Smith's neck. At 20 seconds of the first round, Smith picks Kauder straight up, then turns to his right and slams Kauder to the canvas, falling on top of him. The impact of the landing knocked Kauder out cold.

      CONTINUED REVIEW: The IKF is reviewing the throw itself to fully determine if or not it was a legal "Dump" or an Illegal "Body Slam". If done illegal the IKF must determine whether or not it was intentional or not. The IKF has yet to determine who will attain what seeding for the IKF World Classic from this bout.
