It's Official everyone. One of the most Talked about matches in
IKF History is now a reality as two TOP
CLASS Amateurs will meet in the ring on November 15th to fight for the vacant
IKF Amateur FCR Cruiserweight WORLD TITLE!
Kevin "Hitman" Engle (Right, 2003
IKF Cruiserweight National Champion)
and Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson (Left, 2002 IKF Cruiserweight National and North American
Champion) will face off in Greenville, South Carolina on November 15th as
the Main Event to the 2003 IKF Full Contact Rules North American Tournament.
However, as suggested in a previous article, there will not
be a two fight deal. This will be 1 fight for the Title with no assured re-match
to the loser.

North American Tournament will be the La Quinta Inn &
Suites. Room rates are $49/night for two double beds, $59/night for King
Exec. and $85/night for two room suite. These prices include breakfast each day.
Shuttle to and from the airport as well as to and from the venue is also

North American Championships!
Thompson To Host Again!
Simpsonville, South Carolina, USA:
IKF Promoter Ray Thompson (Right)
is all locked in for the date of the 2003
IKF Amateur FCR North American Championships
(In the Full Contact Rule Style).
The event will be November 15th
in Greenville, South Carolina, USA at the
Palmetto Expo Center. The host hotel will be the Greenville Hilton
Hotel. The event will be filmed for the IKF/CSS Kickboxing Program
and shown at a later date.
- Who Can Enter This Event?
- FROM USA: The Top 3 finishers at the
2003 IKF USA National Amateur Tournament
may enter.
- ANY fighter from Canada or
Mexico may enter.
- DIVISIONS
- There will be 16 divisions (8 weight classes for
MEN and 8 weight classes for
WOMEN) for men and women ages
16 & up for this years 2003 event.
- CURRENT IKF NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONS
- All Current IKF
Full Contact Rules North American Champions must enter this event to defend
their IKF FCR Amateur North American
Titles. However if no one enters this event in their weightclass they are not
required to register for the event and will retain their title automatically.
- The format of the tournament is as follows;
- In FCR Divisions where there is an
existing/current IKF Amateur North American
Champion:
- All CURRENT IKF North American
Champions regardless of what country they are from (USA, Canada, Mexico)
will be given the number 1 seed in their weight division bracket.
- The 2003 IKF USA National Amateur
Tournament Champion will be given the second seed.
- The second place finisher of the 2003 IKF
USA National Amateur Tournament in the division will be allowed to register
but will be seeded among all remaining fighters from Mexico and Canada.
- In FCR
Divisions where there is NOT and existing/current
IKF Amateur North American Champion:
- If there is no existing/current IKF
North American Champion in a division then the winner of the 2003
IKF USA National Amateur Tournament will be
the top seed in the weight bracket.
- The second place finisher of the 2003 IKF
USA National Amateur Tournament in the division will be allowed to register
but will be seeded among all remaining fighters.
- NUMBER OF FIGHTERS ALLOWED
- Since this is a "1" day event, We will only
Accept the first "8" Amateur Fighters
for each weightclass for this Tournament. With this in mind, we suggest
those interested to send in their registration forms as quickly as possible.
This is because we cannot have a fighter fight more than 3 times in 1 day, as in
any tournament style fighting event. We will keep you posted as to WHO has
registered in what weightclass as we have done with the
IKF USA National Amateur Tournament.
- REGISTRATION FEE:
- The cost to Register for this tournament is $45.00
(U.S.) for all fighters.
- LATE FEES
- Registration
must be paid in full by October 1st.
- Late registration "RECEIVED" not Postmarked, after October 1st and up until October 11th will be
charged an additional $30 late fee.
- Late registration "RECEIVED" not Postmarked, after October 11th and up until October 15th will be
charged an additional $50 late fee.
- NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED IF RECEIVED
AFTER OCTOBER 25th. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- AWARDS
- All winners will receive IKF North
American Championship Title belts (Right) valued at $230.00 each so
as anyone can see, this event will be expensive for the Awards alone.
