Re-Modeling?


Over the past few weeks the IKF has been updating and improving several pages here on the IKF Web site. We already informed you of the updates of the pages that covered the first years of the IKF, and many others are in the works still. One page that was just finished with a new and improved format was the Kickboxing Gyms in USA Page. This page features a "Who's Who" of REAL Kickboxing Gyms in the United States. The IKF's goal is to have every LEGIT Kickboxing Gym listed on this page. Currently we have about 108 gyms yet to be added that we received requests from over the last month. The page for Gyms outside of USA is coming next so you can compare what the Gyms in USA page use to look like. To see them both, CLICK HERE.

IKF
CHAMP RECOVERING


Earlier this week we received notice that IKF World Muay Thai Champion Giuseppe DeNatale of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada broke his back on November 13 in a bad car accident. The accident almost cost him his life. He has 3 broken vertebrae and we are awaiting more updates on his condition and as we receive them we will keep you all posted as to his condition.

"He's going to be all right but he broke three vertebrae in his back. ... Knowing he is going to make a 100 per cent recovery takes some of the sting out of the news." said training partner Joe Doerksen on November 16th.

Giuseppe is the current IKF Heavyweight Muay Thai Champion. He has defeated fighters such as Carter Williams & Dewey Cooper in K-1 and has been training trains Joe Doerksen, Chris Fontaine, Rodrigo Munduruca in Winnipeg, Canada.

DeNatale won his IKF World title on April 15th, 2006 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada when he stopped Duncan Airlie James of Glasgow, Scotland at 1:53 of the third round.

"THE LAST STAND"
November 25th, 2007 - Rochester, Kent, England



This was not the event IKF promoter Colin Payne had intended to promote. He had hoped to host an event with an exciting pro bout with a great supporting undercard. However, a couple of weeks back he lost his Main Event bout between Britain's Number 1 Super-welterweight, George Pattison and Britain's Number 1 Welterweight, Nick Gill. Pattison was injured so Payne scrambled to try and find a replacement to fight Gill, but had no luck in achieving a replacement fighter.

The title of the event, "Last Stand' was picked because Pattison had planned to retire after this fight. However, without this Main Event, the night still saw lots of exciting action with several amateur bouts that would put many 'Pros' to shame with their performances.

Here are the nights results below:

  1. JUNIOR EXHIBITION BOUT: Callum Walton (TKO Gym) vs Harry Hennon (TKO Gym) 3 x 1 minute rounds.

  2. Pritpal Singh (Leicester KB) vs Wayne Kennedy (TKO Gym) 3 x 2 minute rounds full contact 75 kilos.
    WINNER: Wayne Kennedy by decision.

  3. Dennis Ainsough (Deal) vs Joe Wells (TKO Gym) 3 x 2 minute rounds full contact 64 kilos.
    WINNER: Joe Wells by decision.

  4. EXHIBITION BOUT: Tom Cunningham (TKO Gym) vs Neil Wyborn (TKO Gym) 3 x 1/2 minute rounds, 67 kilos
    Although this was just an Exhibition bout, this had some GREAT ACTION!

  5. Ross Hill (Deal) Vs Rob Burbridge (TKO Gym) 3 x 2 minute rounds, full contact, 73 kilos.
    WINNER: Rob Burbridge

  6. James Banham (Kicksport UK) vs Pat Sheenhan (Invicta) 3 x 2 minute rounds, full contact, 72.5 kilos.
    WINNER: Pat Sheenhan by TKO.

  7. Andreas Hahn (Germany) vs Matt Gilbert (TKO Gym) 3 x 2 minute rounds, full contact, 72.5 kilos.
    WINNER: Matt Gilbert

  8. Britte Mardal (Norway) vs Carla Jessup (TKO Gym) 3 x 2 minute rounds, full contact, 56 kilos.
    WINNER: Carla Jessup, GREAT FIGHT!

  9. Oliver Hahn (Germany) Vs Ashley Collins (TKO Gym) 3 x 2 minute rounds, full contact, 82.5 kilos.
    WINNER: This bout ended in a draw.

IKF Pro England MTR Title

Yesterday, Saturday, November 24th, Ste Logan, K-Star Gym in Birmingham hosted an exciting night of Championship Kickboxing! Headlining the event was IKF Pro Muay Thai European Champion Damien Trainor. The event was held at the Royal Suite in Birmingham and promoted by Steve Logan. This was Logan's first IKF sanctioned event and the IKF welcomes Mr. Logan to the IKF World Team. The IKF Representative was Mr. David Eckersley ( Leigh Kickboxing Studio ) and the event Referee was Mr. Howard Hughes ( Devon - Sukothai Gym ).

Since the sanctioning on this event was confirmed late, Damien Trainor's bout and sanctioning had already been in place and was not IKF sanctioned. Instead, Trainor fought the WMC Inter-Continental Champion Runghai of Thailand for the WMC World Featherweight Title. Damien went the distance, but lost on points.

The bout sanctioned by the IKF was the vacant IKF Pro English Heavyweight MTR Title between Gareth Richards (90kg) of Birmingham, England and Scott Hamilton of Bristol, England (92Kgs). In the end Gareth Richards defeated Scott Hamilton. Richards is trained by Steve Logan.

West Coast Circuit Announced!
Semi Contact Kickboxing Competition will Shine in 2008!




November, 2007: IKF Point Kickboxing President Johnny Davis (Right) and West Coast IKF/PKB Representative Ms. Rubie Navarro (Left) announced the start up of the West Coast IKF Point Kickboxing Circuit. This is exciting news for so many who will now get a chance to demonstrate their skills in semi contact action and win some nice prizes throughout the year. The IKF/PKB Circuit will consist of points accumulated for a year as competitors enter tournaments that are listed below. See more on the circuit points here.

Competitors with the most accumulated points will be the annual champion for that specific division.

The year will kickoff with an exciting Point Kickboxing event on January 26th, 2007 hosted by IKF/PKB President Johnny Davis and West Coast Representative Ms Rubie Navarro in Sacramento, CA at the beautiful Doubletree Hotel located at 2001 Point West Way in Sacramento, CA 95815. Everyone will receive great awards and enjoy all the amenities of an excellent facility. Davis and Navarro are planning another event in November of 2008.

Also Joining the PKB Circuit is IKF/PKB Promoter Mr. Dennis Guila (Left) of Antioch, CA. Mr. Guila is set to host his Paradise of IKF Point Kickboxing on February 23rd in the City of Antioch, CA. With a second one planned for September 20th, 2007, Mr. Guila is pleased that his events have grown and he plans to continue to make them some of the most exciting tournaments on the circuit. Mr. Guila promoted two very successful events last year and he and his team really have the hang of what its all about. His supportive school not only gives great support to the semi contact competitions but they have garnered several 2007 IKF World Classic Champions in full contact fighting as well. His fighters showcased their skills in impressive fashion compounded with excellent technique as well as passion for the sport.

Mega Karate Tournament Promoter Mr. Ray Delgado is hoping to raise the bar for IKF Point Kickboxing as he has agreed to host IKF/PKB divisions in to his already successful martial arts tournament that has over 400 competitors competing in Kumite, Forms and Weapons. With IKF Point Kickboxing divisions added to the May 24, 2007 tournament that will be held in Santa Clara, CA, Mr. Delgado is sure to continue to bring even more excitement to IKF Point Kickboxing and the many fighters and fans that follow these events.

The Summer will Bring It On for the 10th Annual, 2008 - IKF World Classic Amateur Kickboxing Championships on July 18th, 19th, and 20th. The yearly World Championship event will host the 2nd annual IKF/PKB World Classic as well on Saturday, July 19th, 2007. This prestigious event will be a double point event where competitors going for the year-end award could really stack up on points to take it all. The tournament will be held at the World's Largest Marriott, The Orlando World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida. That same weekend, Kickboxing fighters will travel from around the world to see if they can win the Golden Gloves of Kickboxing event in full contact action!

Between December 2007 and January 2008, the IKF Point Kickboxing Division will host a banquet style dinner/party were all tournament competitors will be invited to attend and enjoy the food, drink and be a part of the award ceremony.

As you can see, IKF Point Kickboxing is set and ready to start the year with a Bang! Moreover, we have added a Senior Division for those over 40 years old as well as have added weight divisions to make the competition more fair. New weight divisions have also been added for juniors. Some have asked if they do not live on the West Coast, can they participate in the circuit and the answer is "YES!". As long as they understand that in order to get the year end title, they will need to make it to all of these listed events and, or earn enough points to win. We plan to continue to expand the circuit in other areas as well once we amass more promoters and, or events in a certain area to justify a circuit.

So, get ready to take your first step out of the gym and participate in the next IKF Point Kickboxing event near you! More events may be posted on some of the open months. Dates and locations below are subjected to change.

Indian Trail, North Carolina: Griffin's Martial Arts Gym held the 2007 Martial Arts Gym Fall Tournament at Sun Valley High School, which was a huge success! Students from ages 5 through adult competed in self-defense, forms and IKF Point Kickboxing (PKB) divisions. The following are the results of the tournament. First place winner became the New IKF Point Kickboxing North Carolina Champions!

Good Morning! Each year on Thanksgiving, we gather with family and friends to thank God for the many blessings He has given us, and we ask God to continue to guide and watch over our country. Almost 400 years ago, after surviving their first winter at Plymouth, the Pilgrims celebrated a harvest feast to give thanks. George Washington proclaimed the first National Day of Thanksgiving in 1789, and Abraham Lincoln revived the tradition during the Civil War. Since that time, our citizens have paused to express thanks for the bounty of blessings we enjoy and to spend time with family and friends.

In want or in plenty, in times of challenge or times of calm, we always have reasons to be thankful. America is a land of abundance, prosperity, and hope. We must never take for granted the things that make our country great: a firm foundation of freedom, justice, and equality; a belief in democracy and the rule of law; and our fundamental rights to gather, speak, and worship freely. These liberties do not come without cost. Throughout history, many have sacrificed to preserve our freedoms and to defend peace around the world.

Today, the brave men and women of our military, law enforcement and private services continue this noble tradition. These heroes and their loved ones have our gratitude. It is an honor working with them on a daily basis. Tomorrow, (Thanksgiving Day) we also should remember those less fortunate among us. They are our neighbors and our fellow citizens, and we should be committed to reaching out to them and to all of those in need in our communities.

This Thanksgiving we at Chuck Wolfe's Martial Arts again give thanks for all of our blessings and for the freedoms we enjoy every day. Our Founders thanked Jesus Christ and humbly sought His wisdom and blessing. A BLAST From The PAST!


As we get ready to take our Thanksgiving break here at the IKF, we thought we would share with all of you what we have been busy doing the last few weeks.

Have you ever wondered what happened in the IKF before 1996? 1996 was the last posted news page because prior to 1996, the IKF had no internet web site. Well, after some long hours of research and retyping from the old IKF Ranking books, we have re-crated all the IKF Event results and even what little news those IKF booklets held and posted them on the pages of those missing years. Now you can take a look back into the past IKF History yourself. Check out these once missing years from the IKF Past News page;

Check out the beginning of the IKF and many of the names you may have heard about from back then. Who won the first IKF bout? who was the first IKF Champion and lots more to read. Did you know that some well known individuals like world renowned cut-man, Jacob "Stitch" Duran and Kung Fu Master, Tat Mau Wong use to be an IKF Promoters?

When did Champions like Dave Marinoble and Eric Regan have their first IKF bouts? or did you know that the owner and chief instructor at the IKF Training Centers Ringside Gym, Greg Kirkpatrick use to be an IKF Champion?

EXPANDS MORE!


IKF United Kingdom (UK) Full Contact Directors Colin Payne and Carl Sams are pleased to announce that their team has been joined by Dawn Willock. Dawn has over the past few years pushed the agenda of the amateur fighter in the UK probably more than anyone and can be considered a large factor as to why so many people are now pursuing a proper amateur structure in the sport. Dawn will take a prominent role in compiling the IKF UK Amateur rankings, the first such set of rankings for amateurs in the UK.

Promoting as MAGB Dawn has put together a regular series of events in the Midlands area of England over the recent years which have focussed the attention on the amateur fighters. These events have featured many fighters who have gone on to pursue successful Pro careers, amongst these are Rob 'Diesel' Stevens and Qasim 'The Dream' Nisar, both of whom were considered amongst the very best amateur full contact fighters in the world and both of whom have since commenced upon Pro careers which have seen them unbeaten up to now, the solid foundation they gained in the amateurs holding them in good stead as they removed the headguards and moved in to longer contests.

Dawn is helped in her efforts by her husband 'H' Willock who himself runs a successful Martial Arts academy with its own team of successful kickboxers.

Both Colin and Carl are extremely pleased with this latest news and welcome Dawn to the UK team.

"My original motivation when I first started promoting kickboxing was to provide a safe structured environment for novice fighters to develop their ring craft & to hopefully put a little entertainment value in for the paying customers to elevate kickboxing locally" said Dawn. she continues,

"At the time, I believed that apart from a few, generally the standard of 'pro' fighting was not achieving anywhere near it's potential. The most logical way to attempt to change this was the development of a British Amateur / Pro divide."

"The Amateur campaign became my passion & I have been as successful in this as possible for the last few years (with a lot of help from 'H' Willock & Neil Kelly it has to be said!). I recognise that I am limited doing it independently, so eventually I was going to have to have to commit to a sanctioning body to further the Amateur circuit. Although up to now had felt reluctant to commit not being fully happy with all that was on offer. I am now though very pleased to be joining the IKF here in the UK"

"The IKF provides a firm structure, which is my preferred way of working & they constantly update their information & that cannot be argued against as being beneficial."

"They also have taken the revolutionary step of supporting the British Independent Rankings, recognising that in the UK, this is the nearest thing we have to consolidating kickboxing which is sorely needed & supersedes traditional business needs of a sanctioning body. That, along with the fact that I already have good working relationships with Carl Sams & Colin Payne, & that the likes of Neil Holden & Duncan Aires are already on board, satisfies me that it is worth relinquishing my independence to see if we can take things to the next level together."

"My original objective to develop an Amateur circuit obviously still stands. Many said it could not possibly be done, but what started as an experiment has made a positive difference so I am happy to continue to make decisions which will achieve more growth. The IKF have provided a solid opportunity to do that. I would like to thank Carl & Colin for inviting me on board."

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together. After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who had been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.

"No," he responded.
"Heading out?" I asked.
"No. I'm escorting a soldier home."

"No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq. I'm taking him home to his family."

The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his death to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days.

I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, "Thank you. Thank you for doing what you do so that my family and I can do what we do." Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign."

Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American.

So here's a public "Thank You" to our military Men and Women for what you do so we can live the way we do: Red Fridays. Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority." We are no longer silent, and we are voicing our love for God, country and home in record-breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous, or overbearing. Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and it continues each and every Friday until the troops all return home, sending a deafening message: that every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in red and it will let our troops know that the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever -- certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is, "We need your support and your prayers." Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday

Lord, please hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Grand Portage was the sight of "Live Action Kickboxing". IKF Promoter Mitz Bandiera put on an exiting and auctioned packed fight card with both full contact bouts and special exhibition bouts. All the fighters were great to watch and they were being watched by a loud crowd and by 3 professional World Kickboxing Champions. The crowd got there moneys worth with some very exciting talented fighters. All hoping someday to become Amateur / Professional World Champions. Kickboxing is alive and Kicking, ESPECIALLY in Grand Portage, Minnesota, USA…

  1. JUNIOR AMATEUR BOY'S FULL CONTACT
    Bradley Laamanen vs Ryan Negherbon
    This was an exciting bout for all three round, full of "Lightning Action!" Laamanen was very fast and kept continuous pressure on Negherbon, winning by unanimous decision.

  2. Exhibition Bout Full Contact Rules
    George Ward vs Adam Patneaude
    This was an exciting exhibition fight to watch. Both guys had lots of great kicks, but Patneaude's combinations of punches and kicks were too much for the first time fighter Ward.

  3. AMATEUR MEN'S FULL CONTACT
    Fred Lavoie vs Tom Garvey
    This was a laid back fight. Youth came to prevail with the unanimous decision. Garvey's first fight at the age of 51 looked in better shape then the younger Lavoie who took the win. Hats up to Tom for putting up a game fight.

  4. Exhibition Bout Full Contact Rules
    Collin Parent vs Mitch Whiley
    Cellar Kickboxing's Mitch Whiley came in great shape. Scored with combinations willingly against Collin Parent.

  5. Exhibition Bout Full Contact Rules
    Adam McDermid vs Chris Cichon
    What can you say about this Exhibition bout? Rock-em Sock-em! These two guys put on kickboxing Exhibition like it was a real fight. Even though there was a weight difference Chris Cichon (Super Welterweight) held his own against the 2006 IKF World Classic Amateur Heavyweight Champion Adam McDermid, but you could tell Adam was kind enough to hold back his power.

  6. JUNIOR AMATEUR BOY'S FULL CONTACT
    Isaac Chung Vs Austan Whitehurst
    although Austan Whitehurst was clearly the crow favorite, Isaac Chung proved to be the better and more effective kicker and scored more effectively with punch and kick combinations on this night. Austin was a very young, game fighter and we are sure we will see more of him in the future. Isaac took the win by unanimous decision.

  7. AMATEUR WOMEN'S FULL CONTACT
    Heather Everson Vs Brittney Laamanan
    Brittney came out with kicks and scoring with straight punches. Heather was more aggressive throughout the fight, keeping constant pressure on Brittney. This was a very close fight but Heather came out the victor, winning by unanimous decision.

  8. AMATEUR MEN'S FULL CONTACT
    Jordan Allan vs Joe Marchand
    Both fighters came out throwing thunder kicks and punches; Jordan took a standing eight count in the first round. The next three rounds Jordan came on like bolts of lightning as he punished Allan with vicious body shots and then coming up top to score to the head. With Jordan fighting the last three rounds like a man on a mission, I would say "he came" - "he saw" - "he conquered". Jordan Allan winning by unanimous decision.

Winners of this weekend's event will be awarded the title of a North Carolina IKF Point Kickboxing Champions. First Place winners will also receive $100 in cash in this exciting semi contact competition where no knockouts are allowed. One will have to bring his or her best game to the event as many will travel from across the state to compete in this growing tournament!

Mr. Griffin is no doubt a man of vision. As the first promoter to host this type of event ion North Carolina, his IKF Point Kickboxing events have continued to improve with more competitors and quality awards.

Promoters Bob and Jill Leiker proved once again to be consummate professionals. Through their commitment to integrity in the Martial Arts, they have built quite a following of true martial arts fans. Hosting a world-class Martial Arts Tournament throughout the day, they ended the evening with a card of outstanding bouts. One of the highlights of the evening, which I'm sure Mr. Leiker wouldn't mention himself, was the awarding of Grand Master Bob Leiker's 9th Degree Black Belt Certification. Knowing Grand Master Leiker for the many years I personally have, I was honored to be witness to this awesome accomplishment! Grand Master Leiker and his charming wife, Jill, have done much to honor and promote the Martial Arts throughout their adult lives. And this evening was no exception!!!

IKF Amateur OPTIONAL Headgear Rule
Now Allowed In Florida


So what does this mean for Amateur Kickboxing in Florida? Well, to begin with, there are a lot of excited fighters in Florida, especially the Muay Thai fighters, most who simply "Hate" wearing headgear. today, Thomas Molloy, Executive Director of the Florida State Boxing Commission gave his approval for Fighters on IKF Sanctioned events to be allowed the IKF Optional Headgear Rule.

This rule allows fighters who are Amateur ADULT Fighters, Ages 18 to 40 years old and ONLY to Amateurs who have fought in a minimum of 3 or more Amateur Kickboxing bouts and WON a minimum of 2 or 50% of those Amateur kickboxing bouts. If so an amateur fighter meets these requirements they have the option to either wear or not wear headgear in their bout. However there can be no mix-matching during a contest, so if one fighter opts for headgear then both fighters are required to wear it. To review this rule in full Click HERE.

XG or Xtreme Gladiators?
What Happened?
Well, it's been a lot of work on the IKF's part to get the XG or Xtreme Gladiators rule style accepted in States. However, the work continues and we hope to see our first Xtreme Gladiators fight style hosted by an IKF Sanctioned Promoter soon.

The Xtreme Gladiators Rule Style came on with a "Bang" but had seemed to fade away. The XG style was brought up recently on the Kickboxing Message Board but talked about as if the idea had died. This we assure you is not true.

The IKF has been discussing this rule style with a lot of State Athletic Commissions to seek approval for the style. The issue is what to classify it as. You ask why? Well, some history.

The idea first came into play with San Shou style fighters. As many here know, in San Shou, fighters attain points for throws and takedowns. However, many complained that they could not grip their opponent good enough to execute the throws they wanted to do with the bulky boxing gloves. So, the IKF came up with the XG Rule Style which is basically the same thing as San Shou with the throws but with MMA Style, open finger gloves. Like San Shou, there is no ground fighting. Once a fighter goes to the ground from a throw or takedown, the action stops. So why not just call it San Shou or Xtreme San Shou?

Well, for one, we do not want to "Change" San Shou. We have a lot of "True" IKF Pro San Shou World Champions - ( 7 to be exact - equal to Pro Muay Thai and second to Pro Full Contact with 8.). So we want to keep San Shou, San Shou!

In XG, there are no "Throw" or "Takedown" points awarded and throws and takedowns are not even required. They are optional legal techniques in XG. The style is judges just as any other Kickboxing bout. The throws and takedowns are optional, and there allowed to eliminate the long clinching that may be present in some Muay Thai bouts. The style is obviously not for everyone, but as a member of the message board noted, "I wish the IKF would have followed through with the idea of mixing the best of both worlds. I forget what it was called, but essentially it was IR or MT kickboxing with mma gloves & no footgear."

The IKF and ISCF tried out this exciting style while at this years ISCF MMA World Classic. To say the least, the bouts were very exciting! Already the IKF has been the "Good to Go" for this new Rule Style for events in Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. The discussion in Florida is still open. If approved in Florida, we may see XG at the 2008 IKF World Classic if not on another IKF Sanctioned event before. If a style at the World Classic, it would add some Great Excitement to an already Great and Exciting Event!

Nate Mohr
- Rising Star in UFC -

Base Story Line & Photo From GoKickbox.com: Twenty three year old Nate Mohr currently training out of Curran Martial Arts in Crystal Lake, Illinois, USA, is quickly making a name for himself in the UFC.

At UFC 79 - Nemesis, Mohr will take on Ultimate Fighter Season 5 runner-up, Manny "Manuel" Gamburyan, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by the welterweight title fight between Matt Serra and Matt Hughes along with the long awaited matchup between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva.

Mohr began his amateur kickboxing career with IKF Promoter and trainer Russ O'Connell (Left) in Waterloo, Iowa. He put together an impressive amateur record of 8-1 and also claimed two IKF Amateur titles. He won the IKF Middleweight Midwest Title (International Rules) on April 24, 2004, Waterloo, Iowa, USA when he defeated David Flurry of Iowa by unanimous decision.

He also won the IKF Middleweight North Central Regional Title (Full Contact Rules) on November 20th, 2004 in Waterloo, Iowa, USA when he defeated Chris Cichon by Majority Decision.

Mohr went on to win his first and only pro kickboxing fight against Kyle McElroy (Pro: 4-1/1 Am: 19-1-1/6) by TKO in the first round due to leg kicks. UFC 79 which takes place December 29th and will be Mohr's third fight in the UFC Octagon. His UFC debut took place at UFC Fight Night 9 as he took on veteran fighter Kurt Pellegrino on two week notice.

Mohr lost to Pellegrino by submission in the first round, but bounced back two months later earning a unanimous decision win in an exciting fight against Luke Caudillo at UFC Fight Night 10. His current Pro MMA record is 8-4.
