PROBLEM SOLVED?
Saturday Scheduling of The Tournament & The PKB Event

As many who attended last years IKF World Classic can remember, we started our Saturday schedule much later than in the past because we had the IKF/PKB Tournament happening in the morning. This late start to the regular tournament forced the bouts to go WAY TOOO Far into Saturday night. So far that we had to stop the prelim schedule and pick up where we left off on Sunday morning. Well, simply put, we will not allow this to happen this year. Because of what we witnessed, experienced and learned last year, we have two plans to avoid this from happening that we are reviewing currently for the Saturday Tournament Schedule.

  1. If we continue as planned and run the IKF/PKB Tournament on Saturday morning, we will need to have separate officials to work the PKB event, not related to the regular IKF Officials who will be working the main tournament. "IF" we attain these officials within the next week, we may keep the schedule as planned and may also, move the start time of the regular IKF Tournament on Saturday up to 8:30 AM instead of the currently scheduled 9:30 AM Start time. If you are a martial artists and are interested in being an official for the IKF/PKB portion of the tournament, please send us an e-mail by clicking HERE.

  2. Option 2 would be to move the IKF/PKB Tournament to Saturday evening, starting within 1 hour after the last bout of the regular IKF Tournament which if started on time, should end around 6:00 PM. This may be the best option because this way, trainers who have fighters in both the regular tournament and the IKF/PKB Tournament can now be with their fighters during both. In addition, fighters who fight in the regular IKF Tournament who lose during the prelims Saturday, but not by a TKO, KO or injury can, if desired, join in the IKF/PKB Tournament.

What do you think?
As we review the options, we would like to hear what you have to say. Send us an e-mail by clicking HERE.

NEW IKF OFFICIALS REQUIREMENTS
IKF Officials & Promoters - Read Closely Please

We are in the process of updating our IKF Officials page located at www.ikfkickboxing.com/Officials.htm
This update will begin July 1st, 2009 and continue throughout August, 2009. Updates will be continued under the following new guidelines from that point forward.

Beginning in August, 1st, 2009, we will require ALL IKF Ringside Event Officials be Certified and Licensed as qualified Kickboxing and or Muay Thai Officials. This requirement has come about due to some promoters allowing unqualified officials to work their events. This has followed with some poor decisions or judgements by some officials. These complaints come directly to us from the fighters and trainers. "OFTEN" we have no contact info on these officials who have worked the event(s) in question because the promoter has never sent us their required contact info. Because of this, we cannot contact them to inform them of their errors, require them to attain additional training or even suspend them for any poor actions.

We currently do this with our sister organization for MMA, the ISCF, and it has made "A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE" in the qualifications and experience levels of our ISCF Ringside Event officials. To see how we do it for ISCF, please click this page link HERE! Additional info can also be found HERE!

Here is the breakdown for all IKF Officials License Fees. To register as an IKF Official, each official will be required to pay the below fees each year.

Depending on the Officials experience level and experience history with the IKF, they could also be required to attend an IKF Kickboxing & Muay Thai Certification course to become officially IKF Certified. New Officials will be required to do this as well as "Shadow" work until becoming Officially Certified to work IKF Kickboxing events.

Yearly IKF Officials License Fees are as follows:

2009 IKF WORLD CLASSIC OFFICIALS

To show our appreciation for their help, those officials working the IKF World Classic Tournament will receive their IKF Officials license for FREE for the entire year following the IKF World Classic Tournament, or August 2009 to July 2010. Currently registered IKF World Classic officials can be found by clicking HERE.
(*) We note QUALIFIED because those working this event MUST already be qualified as an experienced ring official. This is NOT a "LEARNING" or "SHADOWING" Event.

We are in need of Judges, Referees, Doctors and Timekeepers. If you can help out, the fighters and other already confirmed Tournament Officials would greatly appreciate it.

MORE IKF UK NEWS...

IKF
UNITED KINGDOM
NEWS

The IKF-UK wish to announce that with immediate effect Mr. Neil Holden (Right) will be stepping down as Director for IKF Europe. Due to both increasing family and business commitments he feels that he can no longer give the time to the job that he feels is required. However Neil will remain very much a part of the IKF team and will continue to promote his very successful events with IKF sanctioning.

Carl Sams (Right) and Colin Payne (Right, below Neil), previously in charge of Full Contact activity will now take up the positions of Co-Directors for IKF Europe and all contact and enquiries regarding IKF sanctioning should now be directed through them. Anyone interested in discussing further IKF sanctioning or any other enquiry with regards to past and future IKF events should contact them via e-mail at ikfkickboxing-europe@btconnect.com All correspondence will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Carl and Colin would like to thank Neil for both his hard work over the past 2 years and also for his faith in them in suggesting to IKF President Steve Fossum that they take over. They hope to build upon the good work he has done and further strengthen the IKF's position as a major force within Kickboxing in all its codes.

It is now just over 2 years since the re-launch of the IKF in Europe under its new management team. From the beginning, IKF-UK has adopted a policy of growth through quality rather than one of quantity whilst looking to implement many of the things that people have felt were needed for the sport even if it initially hurt its business as a sanctioning body as its high standards were not ones that some were happy to accept for their own events, even if those same people supported them in principle. It's probably fair to say that most of this work has been done so far in the Full contact Kickboxing area where it was felt initially that a concentrated effort was required if the IKF was to show it had anything substantial to offer the sport and not just become 'another set of initials'. Many of the things we have implemented since have now it seems been adopted by others albeit sometimes to a lesser degree but we feel this is a good thing if it moves the sport forward. The IKF-UK are happy to work with any group if it feels this will help the sport in general. Evidence of this has already been seen with the co-operation between IKF and the ISKA on items such as safety with medical suspensions through the sharing of information.

Some of the things we feel proud to have brought to the Full Contact area are:

AMATEUR RANKINGS
The IKF have been the first association to implement rankings purely for amateur kickboxing that are open to ALL fighters who follow a generally accepted amateur code whilst being regularly updated. We would like to mention the hard work of Dawn Willock (Right) at MAGB for her work in this area and her commitment to the amateur structure she has worked so hard to push forward. We are pleased that so many people are now referring to 'the rankings'. Even non-IKF promoters are using the IKF rankings and fighters positions in them to justify the fights they are putting on.

A commitment to Amateur kickboxing and its development was always foremost amongst our agenda and the strength of the fighters now coming through is proof for us that we were correct to adopt this having watched the work Dawn had done as an independent promoter. The standard of IKF amateur champions we believe is outstanding and the rankings have helped to highlight some outstanding talent such as Jake Richards, Ashley Collins, Daniel Winstanley, Louise Orton, Sam Allen and many many more. Some associations have still to make a firm commitment to supporting the development of amateur kickboxing but the IKF has from day one implemented a clear divide between the amateur and professional codes.

PROFESSIONAL ROUNDS
Seeking to raise the level of the sport the IKF have established clear bout durations for the professional fighters totally separate from amateur bouts. We have become the first body to introduce 10 rounds for the British Professional title, a move designed to raise both the profile and prestige of this all important title. Since then other associations have moved to increase the number of rounds for their domestic titles and although none have moved theirs to 10 rounds we salute their initiative to raise the bar for the professional titles, a move that we feel would not have been made without the enthusiastic support we have received for the increased rounds we have introduced. For the first time in many years the title of British Champion has regained the prestige that has been missing for some time.

TITLE QUALIFICATION
The IKF has become the first sanctioning body to publicly outline its title criteria and this was published previously. This moves the sport further away from a promoter being able to promote a title fight simply because it suits the needs of his show and that the of the ticket selling fighter he promotes. This we feel strongly is in the best interests of the sport.

SAFETY
IKF-UK are very keen to raise the level of safety measures wherever possible. All medical suspensions are now made public in an attempt to protect fighters who may decide to take a fight shortly after a stoppage loss and we have looked to support any suspensions made public by other associations. We have been the first association to bring in stricter rules on hand wrapping and all hand wraps have to be signed by an official in charge at all IKF sanctioned events. The gloves used by all fighters have to be supplied by the promoter and must be of identical brands in each bout. Again we feel this was a ruling that was way overdue for the sport and further underlines our commitment to safety.

FUTURE
The new management of the IKF have no targets for growth for the near future, leaving the expansion of IKF activity to be guided by quality rather than market forces. Some promoters have upon application for sanctioning decided to withdraw once they are made aware of the guidelines that we wish to see in place and also when we have refused a title fight as it did not adhere to our title qualification criteria. We are happy with this determined as we are that the integrity of any titles fought for must be in line with what we have set out for the sport.

Having said all that, we are now entering the busiest period of IKF activity and would like to thank all those promoters and clubs who have decided to support the IKF in its aims and we look forward to working with them.

IKF
FEMALE SUPERFIGHT
SET TO GO!

Exciting confirmation came the week of July 15th that the clash between WKA World Champion Tracey Reno and IKF World Champion Natalie Bee has been confirmed! Natalie has been one of the busiest Full Contact Champions anywhere in the World and this fight will further cement her growing reputation as one of the best pound for pound female fighters in the world. This bout is scheduled for the top of the bill on Absolute Adrenaline - Most Wanted at The Opera House in Boscombe on 20th September, 2009.

As a match up it never looked likely with Bee at Lightweight and Reno at Bantamweight. But at Featherweight (Bee coming down and Reno up) this could be the female fight of the year. Both girls can box and are explosive in their own right. Their fitness is also on a level and if neither finds an equalizer it will be 12 rounds of fast paced carnage.

On the line will be the IKF and ISKA World Title belts as the ISKA has agreed to co-sanction the fight for their title as well on this IKF event.
Further details will follow as the event approaches.

KICKBOXING
Coming Back To
Sacramento, California!

AK Promotions is BACK in the Full Contact promotions business!
"Those of you who've kept with us and the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) know that we never strayed too far away as we have been growing the sport of kickboxing through other means like the popular IKF Point Kickboxing Divisions." Said AK Promotions Johnny Davis (Right) "IKF Point Kickboxing is continuing to prove that it's a true incubator for the sport of kickboxing as we witness more and more fighters starting out in this semi contact division and moving into the full contact arena more prepared than in the past."

The goal of growing the sport of kickboxing and using IKF Point Kickboxing as a means to find talent has always been a part of the plan. That plan has just come a step closer to reality again…as Davis and his Team are preparing to put on some of the most exciting Full Contact Kickboxing action under the many styles of IKF Kickboxing! With talented men and women who are hungry for a fight, waiting for their chance to showcase their skills to friends, family and fans, Davis feels assured that they will have an abundance of talent for fans to witness for a long time.

"It's also our goal to find and build recognizable champions to the general public. This will take a strategic plan and the right fighters. Therefore, we hope that others will work with us in promoting quality shows as well as making us aware of any untapped talents waiting for their chance to shine."

Davis recognizes that other promoters are putting on some quality shows in other areas in CA. "We applaud them for keeping this great sport alive and well. We want to make sure that we respect other kickboxing promoter's scheduled dates and try and stay as far away from their event dates as possible in order to try and give everyone an opportunity to be successful. I hope that they will return the favor."

Davis will start his shows out small and conservative with plans to grow in larger venues and fights as they increase their following. "We will do what we can for the fighters but due to the size of the venue at this time again we have to be conservative. However, it will be a great way to build the records of fighters, and showcase their skills to family and friends and prepare them for bigger things to come. Everyone will be treated with the upmost respect and fairness on our shows as is required with all IKF Sanctioned events."

Davis' First Event will be Sunday, September 6th, 2009 in Rancho Cordova, CA at the Tommy T's Comedy and Dinner Theatre. They are currently matchmaking and would like for trainers to send in to them their fighter (s) information to johnnyd@akpromotions.org

The show will be under the authority of the California State Athletic Commission and sanctioned by the IKF. "Thanks again for your past and future support! We look forward to working with you!" Said Davis.

Results From LTD Productions In Association With PACO Present
"VACAVILLE FIGHT FEST"
June 20th, 2009 - Vacaville, California, USA

It had been over 2 years since Stephan "Wonderboy" Thompson stepped into a boxing ring as a competitor. A simple slip in a bout forced him into two major knee surgeries that proved to be very successful from what we saw this past weekend. Facing Thompson on the other side of the ring was Brandon Banda. Banda of Concord, California, USA had a very successful amateur kickboxing career with a record of 8-1-1 and an IKF Amateur Muay Thai Light Heavyweight California title to go along with it and a couple others. He won his IKF title back on May 23rd, 2003 in Stockton, California when he defeated well known IKF Champion Derek Yuen by unanimous decision. Banda made a switch over to Pro MMA last year and so far has compiled a Pro MMA record of 1-1.

Thompson too has his sights on an MMA career and has been training with one of the best MMA fighters out there, Georges St-Pierre up in Canada. His past is well known to many here on the IKF site and his list of titles reads like a shopping list at a major super market ON "Free Friday"... If there ever were such a day... To see for yourself, you can review his profile page by clicking HERE.

However on this night, it was kickboxing in the ring. However, on this night, California saw a style of kickboxing it rarely sees anymore. A Style that made California Kickboxing a top sport in the 90's with names like Francis Farley, Javiar Mendez, Eric Regan, Dave Marinoble, Brian Schwartz, Dennis Alexio and of course, Don "The Dragon" Wilson. this was American Style, Full Contact above the waist kickboxing, the original kickboxing.

Leave it to a fighter like Thompson to open some eyes and spark some excitement in this style of kickboxing. As flashy as ever with his well known turnback side kicks meeting up with his opponents ribs and his classic "Blitzing" into his opponents comfort zone. Thompson thrilled the crowd with hand and feet combinations not seen in this state since fighters like Eric "The Hitman" Regan and Dave "Madman" Marinoble were winning their titles. in respect to Banda, he was extremely tough. Thompson hit him with some shots that would have brought the majority of his past opponents to the mat, never to stand again. Although he started relaxed, Thompson finished with an explosive "BANG" as the final round was coming to a close, Thompson unleashed his hands for a multi strike fury that sent Banda to the canvas, and ending the fight and winning by Knockout.

Banda was no easy opponent for Thompson who, as noted above, had not been the competition ring for over two years. Banda is mainly a Muay Thai fighter who eagerly accepted the opportunity to face the "Wonderbuy". It will be exciting to see Banda in the ring again fighting his favored Muay Thai style. As for Thompson, even Banda would agree that he showed a different style of kickboxing that California fans are now excited to see more of. The flashy high, spinning and deceptive kicks of Full Contact American style Kickboxing.

The issue now is who will Thompson face next?
Who will step up?
Will the possible match-up of WCL Karate star Raymond Daniels vs the Wonderboy fall away as other highly anticipated bouts such as Regan Vs Marinoble or Rick Roufus Vs Dennis Alexio? Will the sport support such a bout and pay both fighters what they should be worth? Although Daniels has yet to truly prove himself in the Full Contact "Ring", those reading here know, it's a bout Thompson would love to have. Reason is, Daniels was Thompson's opponent when he blew out his knee in the opening seconds of a WCL fight. A highly anticipated bout that never saw an end. However, on the flip side of that coin is the question, "Does Daniels even deserve a fight with Thompson?" Well, some say yes, others say no, but regardless of opinion, many would love to see these two go at it. Both would display a flashy style that has since been long gone from the fighting ring with their high spinning kicks and explosive blitzing.

If the bout never happens, it won't hurt either's career. Daniels has a good career as a point karate fighter and hopes the WCL will open up yet another season. As for Thompson, his date with destiny is easy to call, a soon to be announced date for a Pro World Title shot. Only issue is, WHO will promote it and where? Any Takers?

SHATTERED!
Fighter Registration Update For The
11th Annual, 2009 IKF World Classic Tournament.

That's the latest word here at ground zero. Last year (2008) the record for number of registered fighters by first deadline was tied with 2007 at 131. Although the count is not exact yet, the number of registered fighters as of first deadline tonight is around 167!!!

YES, *167!

Last year with only 14 days to go until the FINAL Deadline we were at 174, only a few registered fighters away. In the end last year, we registered 262 fighters and of them, 227 showed up to "Walk The Walk!"

Due to events this weekend we may not be able to post all the registered fighters we received today which was in the neighborhood of 70 fighters. However, we assure everyone that as of noon Monday, all currently registered fighters will be posted on the registered fighters page located HERE.

Our final registration deadline is not until July 10th, which is still 21 days or 3 weeks away. To review all the upcoming deadlines just click HERE.

We look forward to yet another record breaking year at this years 11th Annual, 2009 IKF World Classic Tournament. and we are also looking forward to seeing the top Amateur Fighters and the Top Trainers in the World "Walk the Walk and BRING IT ON!"

"It's All About
THE BELT
Baby!"

This has been the phrase that fighters have used to separate the IKF Championship Tournament from all others. "What will I win for my efforts?" The IKF wants to make sure that EVERY Fighter's effort is worth something GREAT!

This is why from the very first IKF Tournament back in 1999, the IKF Tournaments have ALWAYS been known for their great awards, Especially their CUSTOM MADE Championship Belts!

With that being said,

We present to you the

2009 IKF World Classic Championship Belt...

YA BABY!

Unlike in the past, the center IKF World Classic logo is all metal, not a sticker type of material.

This is an all leather belt with stitched edge trimming.

Red Jewels surround all three gold plated metal plates and snaps

And YES, EVERY CHAMPION in the Full Rules Kickboxing divisions will receive one of these beautiful Championship belts, even in the Junior division!

Oh and by the way...
We are at 71 *Confirmed Fighter's Today... And Climbing...

42
And Counting...

Those who have been involved in any of the previous IKF Tournaments know that this is an exciting time to watch the numbers grow. As of this posting, the numbers for the Tournament jumped up to 42 today. Over the last 10 years, the average number of fighters registered by first deadline (Which is this Friday, June 19th) is 88.

It's at this point we want to make all fighters aware that 16 is the limit for each bracket. Last year, several fighters were forced to move to another weightclass or rule style because their bracket was full at 16. Many fighters wait to see who is registered in their weight division before registering themselves. This of course is risky and could work to your disadvantage in several ways;

  1. As mentioned, you could miss out in being in a bracket if it fills up at 16 before you register.
  2. The longer you wait, the lower your seed will be.
  3. If no one registers in your desired bracket by first deadline, THAT BRACKET AUTOMATICALLY CLOSES!
This is because we need an accurate count of the number of titles a minimum of 35 days before the event.
  4. If you went to a Regional Tournament, your seeding privileges of being a higher seed at the World Classic END after the first deadline. After the first deadline, your seeding is based upon when we "Receive" your registration form and fees.

Like last year, Florida will most likely have the greatest number of fighters. However, as of today, New York currently holds that title with 13 with both Florida and California in second with 5 each.

We have some phone registrations coming in later tonight and of course, more mail tomorrow which will bring us closer and closer to that first magic number of 100 and beyond. The record of 131 fighters registered before the first deadline so far is a tough number to beat. This record was tied last year from a previous year.

IKF Point Kickboxing…
Ready For The World Classic '09!

Orlando, Florida, USA

Summer has arrived and so has the time to get registered for the 11th IKF World Kickboxing Classic ( July 24th, 25th and 26th). This event is one of the most prestigious events for amateur kickboxing in the world! Those who are in the know- know that this event is one that should not be missed, especially by those serious about their future as well as adding the words of IKF World Classic Champion to their resume.

The ever-growing IKF Point Kickboxing Division has been growing in leaps and bounds in the past two years at the IKF World Classic. This year, several gyms are promising to bring out as many fighters as possible that will only make the tournament even better! Men, Women and Children as young as 5 years and even those maybe too old for the full contact side can compete, as long as there is someone in their division to fight. The action will be hot but of course as always, the semi contact rule is in full affect as there are NO KNOCKOUTS ALLOWED. There will be divisions in IKF/Point Muay Thai, International Hi Kick and International Low Kick styles.

Everyone planning to bring their fighters really need to know the difference in this competition and what will be going on in the main arena. The semi contact rules must be paramount. However, in saying this, we encourage you to use your speed instead of power and focus on the points and you will have a great time at this event! Moreover, BE IN SHAPE! The 2 - 2 minute rounds with 1 round of OT (If needed) is in affect for this event. We will modify it for the little guys, but be in shape and ready to rock as these rounds seem a lot longer than it sounds on paper! Also, be sure to REGISTER EARLY and save some money $$! You will be able to register up until July 24th at 5:PM but if you wait that long, you will pay upwards of $90.00…do it by July 8th and only pay $50…a lot of reason to get signed up early!

IKF/PKB REGISTRATION INFO AND DEADLINES

Just as last year's event, the IKF World Classic will be held at the largest Marriott in the World in Orlando, Florida. This beautiful location is one that stands out with luxury rooms, "Several" tropical pools and of course, Disney World just a stone throw away, makes it's a great location for such an event. Heck, planning your family's vacation around the tourney at this wonderful location is not a bad idea as many already have, including most of the IKF Tournament staff.

In addition to semi contact, The IKF World Classic will again have the best divisions of Full contact bouts with divisions in Muay Thai, International Hi Kick (full Contact) and International Low Kick styles. Over 200 fighters will travel afar to prove one thing…they are the Best! Some will come with an illusion of greatness and others will come with a vision for victory but either way, their destiny will need to be decided in the ring! When you get a ton of fighters, trainers and pumped up fans in one room hungry for a fight and hungry for a win…its going to be a lot of fireworks going off even if the 4th of July has past!

We look forward to seeing your there! Remember, Register Early and Save! Forward March!

For more information on IKF Point Kickboxing Contact Johnny Davis at johnnyd@akpromotions.org or by phone at (916) 205-4762 or (916) 630-9254.

IKF/PKB JUDGES
Thanks in advance too for those that would like to volunteer some time to assist with judging some matches for the IKF/PKB. To do so you must be a practicing Kickboxer with at least 4 years experience or a Black Belt Martial Artist. You would also have to attend the rules meeting on Friday, July 24th after the 5:PM registration deadline.

Schedule some extra time for a dip in the Tropical Pools at the Marriott World Center!
Four heated indoor pools and outdoor pools, Two kids pools and Six inviting whirlpools. If there's a more dramatic, inviting place to cool off than the spectacular main pool, we've yet to see it. Of course, you may prefer the Marriott World Center Orlando waterfall pool, too. Soothing waterfalls, a fast and fun 106-foot waterslide and beautiful landscaping are just the beginning of a perfect day at the Marriott World Center Orlando waterslide resort.

Delgado's IKF Point Kickboxing Tournament...
Ultimate!

Mr. Ray Delgado's IKF Point Kickboxing. Tournament this past weekend in Santa Clara, CA at the Santa Clara Convention Center was indeed the Ultimate as approximately 50 fighters showed up to test their skills in IKF Point Kickboxing. It is clear that this semi contact form of kickboxing is getting stronger. Fans packed around the matted floor ring as friends, mother, fathers etc. screamed to the top of their voices for their fighter! It was no doubt big fun for most. With this many fighters, there were still no knockouts as IKF officials made it clear that rules must be adhered to but more importantly the NO KNOCKOUT RULE / Semi Contact is always in full force as one competitor was disqualified for too much contact.

The IKF wants to make it clear to everyone who comes to these events that they are semi contact and if you have another agenda and, or looking for a full contact fight, this this event is not for your. On the other hand, for those looking for some good sparring and diverse competitions while winning some nice awards...this event is your's to enjoy and take your skills to the next level! Forward March!

Mr. Ray Delgado and his wonderful staff did an outstanding job in making everyone feel welcomed! This was no doubt one of the best events this year with 30% growth from last year's event which was the first time he presented it. More on the Ultimate Nationals at www.ultimatenationals.com - Hope to see you there next year!

Something To Think About...

Red Marbles

Special To The IKF...
I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily appraising a basket of freshly picked green peas. I paid for my potatoes, but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.

'Hello Barry, how are you today?' 'Hello, Mr. Miller.. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good.' 'They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?' 'Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time.' 'Good. Anything I can help you with?' 'No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas.' 'Would you like take some home?' asked Mr. Miller. 'No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with.' 'Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?' 'All I got's my prize marble here.' 'Is that right? Let me see it' said Miller. 'Here 'tis. She's a dandy.' 'I can see that. Hmmmmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?' the store owner asked. 'Not zackley but almost.' 'Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble', Mr. Miller told the boy. 'Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller.'

Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile said, "There are two other boys like him in our community; all three are in very poor circumstances, Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever." "When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store."

I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado, but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles. Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his visitation that evening and knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them.

Upon arrival at the mortuary we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could. Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts...all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket. Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket. Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one; each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.

Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller... I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband's bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket. 'Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about. They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim 'traded' them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size....they came to pay their debt.'

'We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world,' she confided, 'but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho '.

With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.

The Moral: We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath... "It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived!"

"This is a fighters dream!" I heard that several times throughout the night. The Coliseum is the perfect place for IKF Kickboxing. The venue looks like a coliseum with large pillars surrounding the ring. It definitely makes you feel like a Gladiators before you step into the ring. Then after you watch all of the Amateur fights in the ring the UFC is shown on the big screens. Red and Blue corners have their own VIP rooms to watch the fights. What more could you ask for. All the fighters are still on the countdown for the 2009 IKF World Classic in July. Maybe they can get one more fight in June before the big event! It's amazing they are still talking about last years IKF World Classic... but where else can you go for such a large tournament and get a chance to win a World Class Title!
