SANTA MONICA, Calif.
Bellator MMA will present a landmark event in American combat sports history on September 19 from the SAP Center in San Jose, which will air live on Spike. An event so big it will include two fields of battle... a Bellator cage and a Glory kickboxing ring.

"I'm so proud and honored to bring this truly amazing event to my hometown of San Jose," said Scott Coker, President of Bellator MMA. "This mega-card will feature something for every combat sports fan- MMA legends, rising stars, a stacked tournament, plus many of the world's best kickboxers. It will be an unforgettable night for the thousands in attendance and the millions watching at home."

In the main event, MMA legend Tito Ortiz (18-11) will take on Bellator's reigning light heavyweight king, Liam McGeary (10-0). This will mark McGeary's first defense of his coveted title.

The epic evening will also showcase a four-man, one-night light heavyweight tournament to determine the No. 1 contender in the division. The participants include the return of Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal (15-4, 1 NC), former champion Emanuel Newton (25-8-1), the always dangerous Linton Vassell (15-4-1) and Phil Davis (13-3), who makes his highly anticipated Bellator Debut.

A Few Reminders To Everyone In Regards To The
IKF World Classic.

  1. The IKF Classic Facebook page is NOT the place to ask any questions, make changes, etc. for the 2015 IKF World Classic or ANY IKF events. All such messages, questions, request must be documented into a separate file by e-mail ONLY. So for this reason, please direct any and ALL questions to main@ikfkickboxing.com - And in the subject line, always begin the subject with 2015 IKF WC: Than your title.

  2. When calling the IKF Office (916.663.2467), keep in mind, they are PACIFIC TIME, so they are not there to answer calls at 5 or 6 am so if you leave a message at this time, please do not leave an angry one asking where they are, since they are there during the week until well after midnight sometimes so... most likely, they are sleeping....

  3. If you do leave a message, please listen to the instructions on the answer. ESPECIALLY where it says, "PLEASE SAY YOUR CONTACT NUMBER TWICE."
The IKF Always gets calls where callers "SPRINT" through their number and they can't understand it, and thus, you never get a call back.

  4. E-mails work far better than calling. ESPECIALLY if you're making requests or answering any request on the registration pages as to what bracket you can go in to, what is your height, DOB, etc, etc.

  5. As of June 1st, as noted on the deadlines page, ALL brackets without at least 1 fighter in them CLOSE. So, if you're registering now, you can ONLY register into an EXISTING bracket where there are fighters.

  6. If you called and either got no answer, or the answering machine, it's best to try later. At this time of year the office receives over 700 e-mails A DAY, but also over 150 phone calls a day. E-mails are easily answered due to time. Returning phone calls can take DAYS with them answering existing calls. So, you're NOT being rude if you call back again and again waiting for a live person.

  7. If you are put on hold, PLEASE do not hang up. They are most likely helping someone else and will get to you ASAP!

These may sound like nagging rules, but we don't mean to be rude. We use several IKF Classic Facebook admins, so when you ask a question there, they may not have the correct info you need. Again, PLEASE send an e-mail. Thank you all for being patient during this last month of registrations. As you can imagine, this is clearly the busiest time at the IKF Headquarters. Keep in mind, we also sanction hundreds of other events with not just the IKF but with our Mixed Martial Arts sanctioning body, the ISCF (International Sport Combat Federation) and our boxing sanctioning bodies the IAB (International Association of Boxing and International Amateur Boxing) In other words, our work is on 20-40 events PER Weekend, added to the IKF tournament...

Thank you and we all look forward to seeing everyone in Orlando.

KOMBAT ZONE - RAPID FIRE!

IKF TITLE BOUT RESULTS

  1. IKF AMATEUR FULL CONTACT RULES
5 NATIONS SUPER LIGHT WEIGHT TITLE

    Ed Smith (Higham, England, 13-5, 62.2kg, 5'8", 07-16-83, Paul Haworth 00447921779852)
    VS Paul Huish (Galway, Eire, 24-12-6, 62.2kg, 5'7", 03-10-90, Pete Foley 0878114227)
WINNER: Ed Smith by majority decision 48-48, 48-47, 49-47.
Ed Smith took a leap of faith and jumped up in class to face the highly experienced Paul Huish over 5 rounds for the IKF 5 Nations Title. Huish was on the comeback trail after a lay off but even so he started the contest as favourite. there was massive respect between the two, who it has to be said are probably two of the nicest guys in Kickboxing. But that all ended at the opening bell. Huish Started well, pressing the action and scoring fairly easily to secure the round on all cards. The second was a more even affair with Smith steadily working through the gears whilst Huish's busts of action caught the judges eye. It was all classic kickboxing and with one judge either way and one down the middle, it reflected the closeness of the contest. In the third and 4th Smith turned it right up and Huish surprisingly was unable to follow him. Smith would deliver 4 or 5 punches with a kick on the end and be out an into safety before Huish could react. The final round was always going to be a war with neither camp knowing how the judges had scored. They traded, moved, traded again and it was Smith who looked the fresher of the two. Despite that Huish took the round on sheer work rate. But it was not quite enough. The rounds clocked up in the middle part of the fight was enough to cause an upset and give Ed Smith the biggest win of his career.

  2. IKF AMATEUR WOMEN'S FULL CONTACT RULES
    EUROPEAN BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE *DEFENCE

    *Tina Harvey (Gravesend, England, 13-3, 55.5kg, 5'9", 03-03-84, Paul Haworth 00447921779852)
    VS Ros Wilson (Bristol, England, 26-6, 55.5kg, 5'2", 11-20-83, Trevor Jeffries 00447867802570)
WINNER: Tina Harvey by unanimous decision 50-45, 50-45, 50-45.
This was always going to be an uphill battle for Ros Wilson against the ever improving Tina Harvey. Wilson's impressive record has a lot to do with her kicking ability, but against an opponent so much taller it was never going to be about the kicks. Throughout the contest she went in low, trying to close the range down, but Harvey was too clever for that and showed why she is heading towards a well deserved world title shot at the back end of the year. It wasn't a pretty contest but Harvey constantly negated Wilson's work and racked up her own points, never looking in any real bother. To her credit Wilson never stopped looking for the KO but it was not to be and Tina Harvey recorded a shut out victory, moving one step closer to the ultimate prize.

  3. IKF AMATEUR WOMEN'S FULL CONTACT RULES
    BRITISH FLYWEIGHT TITLE

    Hayley Ward (Dartford, England, 8-1, 51.9kg, 5'6", 10-24-96, Paul Haworth 00447921779852)
VS Rachel Young (Burton on Trent, England, 12-4, 51.5kg, 5'3", 06-14-84, Chris Squirell 00447903399012)
WINNER: Hayley Ward by unanimous decision 49-46, 50-45, 50-45.
Hayley Ward continued her rapid rise to the top with a comfortable and controlled win over the excellent Rachel Young. Ward has found her mojo since her successful trip to 2014's Unified World Championships and it showed in this contest as she arrived totally focussed and did not deviate from the game plan at any point. She has shown n the past that she likes to trade when given the opportunity, but on this occasion it was totally controlled. Young had come to win but on the day her best just wasn't enough against a fighter that could well be at the top of her division within 12 months. Hayley Ward, the future of the Ladies Flyweight division and new IKF British Champion.

  4. IKF AMATEUR FULL CONTACT RULES

WINNER: Ed Lofts by unanimous decision 50-45, 50-45, 50-45.

  5. IKF AMATEUR FULL CONTACT RULES

Women Set To Steal Kickboxing Show
At The
World Congress Center In Atlanta, Georgia!

Matia VS Crutchfield
IKF Lightweight World Title

Debroux VS Valenzuela
IKF Bantamweight East Coast Title

Mary Matia

Mary Matia

For some weird reason Rap Artist Nellie's hit song, "Its getting hot in here" comes to mind when I think of the fireworks that will go off on June 26th in Atlanta, Georgia, USA at the premier World Congress Center. Only a week from the Fourth of July, a live, packed Kickboxing show will hit the State of Georgia with plans of leaving a lasting imprint for a sport on the verge of resurgence!

Kickboxing fighters from Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina are set to showcase awesome Kicking, kneeing and boxing skills that will have what is expected to be a full house of enthusiastic fight fans at the edge of their seats! There is no doubt that there are some great athletes in the sport of Kickboxing but mostly recognized as in many other sports are the men. Not to play down the awesome ability of the hardworking gentlemen in the game but women rightfully deserve their place in the sport too! Some may argue whether women fighters can bring in the same excitement and fanfare as men as well as their willingness to mix it up and go for it all. Contrary to some believers, some of the best fights ever witnessed by this writer who has been in the sport for over 40 years, were between women! One might ask, why we have not seen women fighters in the leading Kickboxing Organization Glory International as seen on SPIKE TV?

June 26th has the potential to be one of those special nights were women will steal the show! There are a few reason why this theory may come to reality.

Enter, Number One IKF ranked Lightweight Contender Mary Matia of Atlanta, Georgia. One of eight siblings, Mary Matia first walked into a gym because one of her brothers talked her into it. Five months later she was competing in her first sanctioned match and she's never looked back. Today, Mary owns a kickboxing record of 17-4 and holds several kickboxing titles. She is also pursuing a Nursing degree at Georgia State and is one of Knuckle Up's Fitness (A franchise of training facilities in Georgia) star instructors.

What drives her today is the same thing that attracted her to martial arts in the beginning.

"I've always loved sports and I've always loved pushing myself. You get some of that in other sports but in fighting, it's so raw.
It's all about will power. It's you against one other person. It's one-on-one and I love that competition
."

Mary says that by constantly pushing herself in the gym she's winning the many small victories that add up the big ones in the ring.

"I love training. It pushes your body and what you give to the sport is what you get out of it. I love that about it.
You get out exactly what you put in. So if you put in 100 percent you get 100 percent back from the sport and I really like that.
"

Plus, Mary says her workouts help revitalize her mind and spirit as well.

"Training makes me happy! It makes my body feel good and it relaxes my mind. It's a release. It just lets you feel free while you're doing it."

Anyone who sees her in the gym knows she's always the hardest working fighter in the room. She says that attitude carries over into her life outside of the gym.

"Training gives me motivation to work hard in other things that aren't related to fighting. It gives me a drive. I do better in my school.
I'll work harder in my schoolwork if I'm working harder in the gym. It helps me push forward in all aspects of my life and not just at the gym.
"

She credits her first coach with helping her discover that her naturally driven personality was a positive.

"The two of us had a really strong camaraderie. He really helped motivate and push me.
He taught me that my desire and my drive to go forward was a good thing and he taught me how to bring it out.
So now that we're not working together, I'm still able to take what he gave me and help push and drive myself to do better.
"

Anna Crutchfield

Mary's sweet and unassuming nature belies her incredible drive. It's this combination of cuddly lovability and pit bull intensity that made her one of the top Kickboxers in her division.

Mary's career as a kickboxer continues to thrive and on June 26th she'll face the young, very tough and aggressive boxing pugilist Anna Crutchfield of Simpsonville, South Carolina, USA for the IKF Amateur Lightweight World Title at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Crutchfield, who is a prodigy of mostly boxing has shown she has what it takes in Kickboxing as she too has racked up some big wins! Crutchfield sports an impressive overall record of 27 wins with only 5 losses including big wins in last year's IKF World Classic Kickboxing Championships in Orlando, Florida making her a tournament World Champion in one of the largest Kickboxing tournaments in the United States. Clearly being a martial artist most of her life, she now trains under Ray Thompson out of Simpsonville, South Carolina and is poised to leave an impressive mark on the sport.

While Matia predicts a tough and exciting fight she says that, when women fight there's always more to it than just the competition.

"There tends to be a lot of camaraderie among female fighters.
We're always fighting to prove a point and to prove that we belong here
".

One thing for sure, they both belong in the ring that night but only one will walk out the new champ! Matia feels confident she'll win this title and prove her record to 18-4 but that will not be an easy task against an equally determined "Princess Anna" who is eager to wear the crown of IKF Lightweight World Champion and has what it takes for a grand upset!

Moreover, with a pack card of approximately 15 fights between men and women on the card, there will be yet another exciting IKF Title fight between two women on the verge of IKF Glory! If a fighter's pose could win a fight, the menacing look of Aracely Valenzuela of Winston Salem, North Carolina, USA would have you trembling in your seat! But we know that looks do not fight…the fighter does, and that too is a gift that Valenzuela has going for her.

On the other hand, her opponent Victoria Debroux of Chamblee, Georgia, USA is hungry for this title shot. Formally from Los Angeles, California, she started Kickboxing to stay in shape, fell in love with the art and has fought her way to this IKF East Coast Championship opportunity, where she plans to take full advantage of her conditioning to overwhelm the always tough Valenzuela. She admits being a little nervous going in but truthfully most fighters are nervous before a fight. In her words, "winning this bout and title would be life-changing" which is a subtle hint that she plans to leave it all in the ring! Should be a dandy of a match!

"You are now at a crossroads.

TRAINERS & FIGHTERS
Be Aware Of Matchmaking Rules For The
IKF World Classic
TOURNAMENT...

As we begin matchmaking next week for the IKF World Classic
Please be aware of these important
"IKF TOURNAMENT RULES"
If you are wanting to request to move from where you are currently seeded to another bracket or rule style.

  1. If there is NO OTHER FIGHTER in a fighters bracket, he/she can move to a different weightclass or rule style at any time.

  2. If a fighter has at least 1 matched fighter in their registered bracket, they cannot move unless there are 5 or more other contenders in the division they are requesting to move from.
Since this is a "TOURNAMENT", we try to make it a "LEGIT" TOURNAMENT match up.
Meaning we try to assure that to become a "TOURNAMENT" Champion, that fighter will fight a minimum of 2 times to win the Title.

  3. If the division has 4 or more other fighters, the requesting fighter may ONLY move to another division if it has;

Take In The Moment...

For those who have been around awhile, Lets not forget these famous words our good friend and IKF World Ambassador Brooks Mason wrote several years ago when the IKF World Classic Tournament was just a USA Event. Come Championship Sunday, you may want to read this to yourself to be reminded what it all comes down to...

ANY Given Sunday...

"The saying in football is that on any given Sunday any team can win.
The champions of our sport will have no easy time at the IKF Nationals (Now IKF Worlds) as the best of the best come to meet the challenge. Fighters rise to the task when faced with great talent and our returning champions surely provide that. Don't hand out the belts quite yet as new talent will certainly emerge and increase the field of fighters to watch.
As Jesse Finney puts it "Stay positive".
I am positive there will be great fights for all the belts and we will enjoy the best tournament in America.
Looking forward to seeing all of you.
"

Brooks Mason

A FINAL THOUGHT FROM LAST YEARS IKF WORLD CLASSIC...

"I Want To Make Sure MY Fighters ARE!"

FROM THE 2013 IKF WORLD CLASSIC...

Quote of the day...

Today we had one of those e-mail exchanges between a trainer attending the 2013 IKF World Classic. He had spoken to some fighters from another camp and asked why their fighters would never fight his. They told him they would not fight in his town but that they wanted to fight his team on a local event of theirs. However, the trainer told them it wasn't going to happen because he didn't trust the local event he was talking about. The promoter ran the sanctioning body, there are no state commission regulations that the sanctioning body is required to follow in the state where the event is. No fighter medical insurance, no doctor at ringside, no ambulance on site and the promoter selected all of his own officials. So they made an agreement they would all meet up at this years 2013 IKF World Classic in Orlando Florida this July.

Of course the main reason for this was that it was "Neutral Territory" for the two camps to square off.
However, the trainer went on to remind us that there were several other reasons as well.

After noting all of these things between the two camps, the trainer we were speaking with registered his fighters. However, a few days later, the team he wanted to challenge went and registered for another Tournament. He also told us that he was contacted by some people who tried to persuade him to register at this other tournament as well. He asked them how they even got his phone number since it had changed within the last few weeks. Without hesitation they told him, "Oh we found it on the IKF tournament website. They list all the trainers phone numbers."

After reading his story we replied after each e-mail and all of his noted items and basically agreed that we do require more for a fighter to compete in the IKF World Classic. We also agreed that although the IKF Fighter Registration fees are less than all the other tournaments, it's more expensive to compete at the IKF World Classic if you choose to factor in all the added expenses it takes to attend from travel/airfare to hotel. His reply back was an eye opener as he asked;

"Why do all the American fighters always think fighting in Europe is more prestigious than fighting here in the USA? It's like, to them, if they get to jump on a plane and travel, the title is worth more. However, I can't think of one fighter who won over in Europe or Thailand for that matter that stands out. Also, where can one find the list of these Champions? I see some names here and there but the IKF Tournament is the only tournament, and only web site actually, that keeps full records of all past events. Not just the name of a winner, but who they fought and how they won. (To see the page he was referring to, click HERE) It makes a big difference if one wins a tournament title as a novice or open, along with how many fighters they fought to win the tournament title. If jumping on a plane and traveling means so much to them, why not jump on a plane to Florida? They would spend less in travel and if they win the title (Belt or Trophy), or even if they don't, at least they would be remembered on the IKF website as one of the fighters that year that walked the walk, win or lose, and will always be remembered as a contender at the tournament if not a Champion."

We couldn't help but agree and we also reminded him that these added expenses are all part of the requirement to be accepted as a fighting contender in the IKF World Classic Tournament, let alone become a Champion. So by the time we received his final e-mail, he pretty much summed everything up in one sentence which to us was the "Quote of the Day" when his final e-mail said...

It took me a few years, but it's OK now because I've realized the simple fact that not everyone can be an
IKF WORLD CLASSIC CHAMPION

But I want to make sure MY Fighters ARE!

For those who can't make it, really, we understand... And we're sorry you will miss the opportunity.
For those who will be there, we look forward to seeing you
Walk the Walk and Bring It On!
