The Importance of the
Dream
Finding Reality "Great
Moments Are Born With Great Opportunity." Preparing for the IKF West Coast
International Kickboxing Classic - November 25th, 26th and 27th - Radisson
Hotel, Sacramento, California, USA
Our society often uses the word dream. Webster's
Dictionary describes it as "a strongly desired goal or purpose or
something that fully satisfies a wish."
For YEARS, the IKF has dreamed of the day when the IKF West Coast Classic
would become reality. With hard work and dedication, the tournament is no longer
a delusion but rapidly becoming one of the most anticipated kickboxing events in
California's history!
One can only imagine the dreams of the many fighters around
world who are preparing for California's first and Largest Muay Thai /
Kickboxing event! Moms and dads are starting to realize that perhaps the years
of paying tuition to coaches and providing equipment for their sons or daughters
is about to really mean something! Trainers are looking closely at each of
their fighters entered into the IKF West Coast Classic Tournament,
wondering if their pupil will be able to stand tall in this event and prove they
have what it takes to be the next great champion.
With only a few weeks remaining, fighters will be pushed to the
limit. Fighters who are taking this tournament seriously (and everyone
should) know all too well the importance of winning such a prestigious event
as many of them have already heard about the success of yet another IKF Tournament (IKF World Classic) over the past thirteen
years in other parts of the country. This "Golden Glove" like
event has already established many careers in kickboxing and mixed martial arts.
Fighters who have competed in similar IKF
tournaments in other states know that the best fighters travel from around the
world to compete. It's a take no prisoner's event that only the strong will
survive. They know that whomever is honored enough to win a championship belt on
November 27th will be recognized as one to contend with in the future of the
sport as well as they will forever bear the moniker CHAMPION
a
title every fighter wants associated with their name!
Men, women and junior fighters alike understand the importance
of dreaming success, visualizing themselves with arms raised and that brass
around their waist in victory. However, they also realize that it will take more
than a dream to make this feat a reality.
Fighters and trainers know that they will have to push
themselves like they have never pushed before, Run
like never before
Box
like
never before
Kick, Knee and Elbow
like never before
but most of
all- they must BELIEVE in themselves like
never before! Ultimately, it will be the 'knowing and believing of self'
that will be the true barometer for success. When they get in the abyss of a
match with an opponent who's as eager, they will have to call on all of their
being for that true heart of a champion to appear. It will be then and there
that belief in themselves
whether lesser or superior
that will be the
greatest determining factor for their future namesake
Contender or
CHAMPION!
For a true fighter, there is no greater
feeling than to dream for years and make it a reality! For a true fighter,
there is no greater feeling to look a challenger in the face and overcome them
and for a true fighter there is no greater feeling than to win a championship!
So, Moms and Dads, trainers, fans and fighters, its ok to dream. It's ok to use the power of
your hearts and minds to visualize as well as propel you or yours to work hard
for the next few weeks and bring your best to the tournament!
Fight fans are equally excited as they know they will have the
opportunity to witness some of the best fights in the history of the sport all
in one weekend! Some are close friends and family members, some distance
acquaintances but all of them dream of a victorious weekend to kickoff the
holiday season and a bright new year!
With strong registrations thus far and more to arrive, with so
many dreaming of winning a championship belt that weekend, there are sure to be
many disappointments. However, those who enter the tournament should remember,
they decided not to stand on the outside and criticize but instead, they chose
to get on the inside and stand-up for who and what they believe in
themselves
and the sport! Therefore, those who fall a little short on this weekend
in November will be champions by another name
COURAGEOUS!
The IKF realized the
importance of dreaming and more importantly made a dream a reality and now for
years to come the weekend following Thanksgiving Day in Sacramento at the
Radisson Hotel will be the weekend for believers. Because of the IKF's dream, the real winners will be everyone who
has put on a pair of gloves shorts or pants and threw kickboxing techniques or
who just admired the sport from afar! This weekend will be for those that have
lingered with their passion for the sport for years attempting to find a reason
to make sense of all the hard work, blood sweat and tears
This weekend
will be a huge win for the sport of Muay Thai & Kickboxing and all who
profess to be a follower of its assorted styles!
Thanks to those who BELIEVE, the Sport of Muay Thai /
Kickboxing will never be the same in the Golden State! California welcomes
the rest of the world to compete against some of the best on the West Coast!
Bring Your A-Game or your dream will not come true! Forward March and
Never Stop Dreaming!

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT UNITED STATES TITLE
Cecil
Tudor (Blue Collar Gym/G.C., Glendale, Arizona, USA)
VS Frank (Lone Wolf) Bamford (Wolf Pack, Indio,
California, USA)
- Round 1
Both came out trying to
set each other up for some openings. They knew what each other were doing
because they have fought each other two times before, with one win each.
Tudor started to land some good leg kicks and body punches. Then Tudor
came with a leg kick and Bamford caught Tudor coming in with a
straight right to the head and down went Tudor. Tudor stayed down on his
back till the count of 8 then got up. Tudor fought back hard not letting
Bamford take advantage of the knock down. 10-8 round for Bamford
- Round 2
Tudor came back
in this round with good hand and feet combos. Bamford was just looking
for a shot that he didn't take. 10-9 round for Tudor.
- Round 3
Tudor starting to
control the fight with good leg kicks and hand combos. Bamford did a
little better this round but Tudor won the round 10-9.
- Round 4
Now the fight is all tied
up on the score card. It's time to see who wanted the title more. Tudor
did the same by controlling the match, but Bamford tried to come back
but didn't do enough to take the round but Tudor did more. Tudor win
the round 10-9.
- Round 5
Tudor was not
going to give Bamford any chance to get back into the fight. Tudor
kept Bamford at bay with good hand and feet combos. Tudor wins the
round 10-9.
- The final score on all score
cards 48 - 46 for Cecil Tudor
Cecil Tudor becomes the New IKF Light
Heavyweight United States Muay Thai Champion!
This was a very good fight card put on by Richard Williams, Steve Coury

IKF NEWS...
ROUFUS
VS MIGHTY MO
To Fight For New
IKF LEGENDS TITLE!
Next Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada, Kickboxing Legend
Rick "The Jet" Roufus and top K-1 Contender "Mighty
Mo" will meet face to face for not 1 but "TWO" Kickboxing
Titles! On the line will be the WCK World Heavyweight Title as well as
the newly created "IKF
LEGENDS" Title!
For the third consecutive year, Dennis Warner and In Sync Productions,
Inc. has partnered with Henan TV Network and the WulinFeng
fight group to bring the best martial arts fighters from China to the U.S. to
face the WCK (Warner's World Championship Kickboxing) fight team. The
main event features a Heavyweight World Title bout between K-1 legend Rick "The
Jet" Roufus and top K-1 contender
Siala-Mou "Mighty Mo"
Siliga. The WCK event will take place on Saturday, October 22 at the
Las Vegas Hilton.
Rick "The Jet" Roufus and 'Mighty Mo'
Siliga are both iconic world class fighters that are well-known and
respected in the K-1 arena. Their dynamic and aggressive fight styles helped
propel the K-1 USA fight shows to must see events. Although both legendary
fighters are known for dominating the K-1 world, they have never faced each
other, until now, making this one of the most highly anticipated K-1 fights in
the U.S this year! Which is also why WCK Promoter Dennis Warner
and IKF President
Steve Fossum
thought it would be the best place to launch the new IKF
LEGENDS Title! This bout will be just one of many exciting match-ups on the
card!
"The new IKF Legends
Title is only available to fighters who have achieved great things in their
career." Stated Fossum. "It's a title for the seasoned
Elite Fighter who is looking to add sort of a 'Champion among Champions' title
to their trophy case and we are proud and excited to have two such fighting
legends facing off for the inaugural IKF Legends
Title!"
Currently living in Phoenix, Arizona, USA,
Rick
"The Jet" Roufus (KB: 63-9-1 with 42 wins
by way of knockout) is one of the most revered and feared kick boxer's in
the United States. The six time full contact kick-boxing world champion claimed
two different weight class titles under the IKF,
(International Kickboxing Federation. - IKF Pro Full Contact Rules Light Heavyweight World Champion &
IKF Pro International Rules World Heavyweight World Champion.)
Although Roufus is best known for his unrivaled skills
in the K-1 arena, he has also competed in boxing (Pro Boxing: 13-5-1/11,) and the mixed martial
arts (Pro MMA: 5-6,) arena. As a boxer, Roufus
clinched the WBC's Continental Americas Cruiserweight title.
His opponent
'Mighty
Mo', with a K-1 record of 16-15 (12 wins by way of knock out),
is also well known and respected in the K-1 arena. 'Mighty Mo' became
the K-1 World Grand Prix champion in 2004 at the Las Vegas II event and
in 2001 claimed the K-1 World Grand Prix Tournament Championship title.
Like Roufus, 'Mighty Mo' has also competed in boxing and in the
mixed martial arts arena.
On Saturday, October 22, the two K-1 Legends will collide, and
only one will emerge as the WCK World Heavyweight Champion and the new
IKF LEGENDS
Champion. Fight fans will not want to miss this iconic K-1 battle! The WCK
Team (USA) is looking to turn the tables on the competition in 2011,
having been defeated by Wulinfeng (China) 5-3-1 at the Harrah's
Las Vegas event last year. This year WCK is Confident that they have an
edge. In addition to having K-1 legend, Rick "The Jet"
Roufus, on the team, the newly appointed team captain,
Dewey Cooper,
plans to lead the WCK team to victory. Cooper has been to China
as a fighter and coach many times for the WCK and he will provide
tremendous insight into the abilities of China's fight team. Fans can expect
nothing less than a dominant performance.
According to promoter Dennis Warner, "This year's WCK
card is stacked with must see fights. Words cannot express how thrilled we are
to have K-1 rivals Rick "The Jet" Roufus and "Mighty Mo headline
the event. This year's event will also feature many international superstars
including Mr. Lightening Lerdsilla of Thailand, who will square off against Li
Ning of China, Ukrainian female sensation Lena Ovchynnikova and many others."
Warner
concluded with, "The Vegas fight scene is highly competitive and fight
fans can select from any number of fight events
but I can assure you, THIS
is the event to see! From the historic main event K-1 bout between Roufus and
'Might Mo', to female and team fighting, fans can expect nothing less than
non-stop fight action of epic proportions!"

Results From Showdown
Promotions'
"Showdown in the Downtown"
October
1st, 2011 - London, Ontario, Canada
Many here have fought on a Kickboxing and or Muay Thai event.
However, few may ever get the opportunity to fight on a "WORLD
CLASS SHOW" like we experienced this past Saturday night! Two weeks
ago we were in Winnepeg, Ontario Canada and thought we had seen the classiest
event in Canada. However, not to be outdone, IKF
Promoter Dr. Amer Mustafa and his
Show
Down In The Downtown Promotional Team came up to that level of
prestige former IKF Pro World Champion
Giuseppe DeNatale and his Canadian Fighting
Championship's (CFC 7) Promotional Team
hosted up this past September 10th at the Winnipeg Convention Centre in
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
These were without a doubt the two BEST Events we have had the
privilege of being a part of in Canada and may be the two best events we have
attended this year, yet they were vastly different in their goals. At the CFC 7 event, DeNatale and company welcomed
around 3,100 spectators. However, at Dr. Mustafa's event, the 20,000 sq
ft. venue was limited to around 700 "Special - Black Tie"
guests.
We are often told a certain promotion is a "Charity
Event" and we have been to many of these. However, this was much
more... A LOT MORE! Dr. Mustafa's event 'Showdown In The Downtown' was a formal affair that
raised much needed funds in support of The Matthew Mailing Centre for
Translational Transplant Studies, The Kidney Clinical Research Unit and The
Kaitlin Vanderhoek Guardian Angel Fund in support of Childcan. Funds raised
are directed towards research that will help fight kidney disease and improve
patient outcomes after solid organ transplantation.
The event had a huge backing of top level sponsors that
included The Champion "Title Sponsor"
Novartis Canada,
along with Heavyweight Sponsors, Janssen, Pfizer Canada, -
Fresenius
Medical Care North America, -
Abbott Canada and
Gambro
Canada. These were the top Sponsors, yet there were many more
involved here including each of the guests paying between $2,500.00 for a table
for 10 up to a $5,000.00 for a Ringside table for 10. Admission for these
generous guests included a fabulous menu with liquid libations for all.
That should give everyone a pretty good idea as to what
the atmosphere was like at this World Class event, so now lets get to the nights
Kickboxing Action!
Here is a rundown of the action in reverse order...
Fight records are
records AFTER this night and fight weights are weigh-in weights for this event.
IKF PRO FCR LIGHT
MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE *DEFENSE
*Muzammal Nawaz,
Burlington, Ontario, Canada 22-7-2/12, AK: Over 100 Bouts, 158, 5'10",
10-5-68 VS Shannon Hudson,
Greenville, South Carolina, USA, Overall KB: 32-13/ 13, Pro Boxing: 4-1/4, AB:
6-2/3, 155, 5'8"", 10-11-79
WINNER: Shannon Hudson by TKO at end of round 6.
This was suppose to be a massive battle that was sure to go
the distance as it had before. Years back, these two warriors battled it out for
10 rounds in a non title bout with Muzammal Nawaz coming up with a split
decision victory. However on this night, Challenger Shannon Hudson had
no plans on leaving it in the judges hands. Hudson started this bout
with an explosive kick count pace as he tallied 20 first round kicks to Nawaz's
10. However the judges were mixed as to what they saw as 2 gave round 1 to Hudson
and the other to Muzammal Nawaz. The surprise that came in round 2 and
continued throughout the remainder of the fight was that Hudson backed
off his kicks and went to work on his boxing. After a blistering 20 kicks in
round 1, Hudson never threw over 10 for the next 4 rounds. Nawaz
slowed his kicks a bit as well from 10 in round 1 to 9 in round 2, 8, 8, 9 and
only 7 in round 5. Unfortunately for Nawaz, even the one judge who gave
him round 1 was swayed over to Hudson for rounds 2 and 3. Entering round
5 it was still a close fight with Hudson up on 2 of the judges cards
40-36, 39-37 and even at 38-38 on the other.
Round 6 is where this bout woke up. It started when Hudson
dropped Nawaz with a flurry. Nawaz took the 8 count and was back
on his feet when seconds later Hudson dropped him again, this time with
a head kick. You could tell Nawaz's eyes told the story... He just
wasn't there. The two knockdown blows took their tole on the 43 year old veteran
champion and things were only looking up for Hudson. When round 6 came
to an end, Hudson had thrown 11 kicks and plenty of hand combinations
while Nawaz only threw 1 kick. While in the corner, Nawaz and
his trainer made the right call to stop the bout.
While Hudson was being awarded his IKF World Title Belt, the rest of us knew this was a
special moment. It was the end for a multi time World Champion who had fought
around the world and sacrificed a lot to accomplish what he had. One could say,
it's sad he went out on a loss... To them, we strongly disagree... Those who
think this are not true fighters. Muzammal Nawaz was not one to walk
away with his belt into retirement. As always, once a warrior, ALWAYS a Warrior.
Muzammal Nawaz went down with his sword in his hand, the
only honorable way to leave this sport. Those of us who have fought in the arena
know this to be the ONLY way any true Gladiator would want to end it. To many in
the world of professional kickboxing he has always been known as the 'Warrior
of a 1000 battles' having established an outstanding record of over one
hundred bouts. With those victories came numerous Titles including 4 Pro World
titles. He went out on his own terms, his own way, and in the end, he summed it
up to everyone there, "I'm actually going to be at ringside for
Shannon's next fight cheering him on," Nawaz said. "He
is the world champion for right now and he deserves that."
While Muzammal Nawaz's career was ending, it was the
rebirth of Hudson's. To the IKF,
Hudson has always been known for "The BEST Tournament fighter
that never won the Tournament title." However, it's not like Shannon
"The Cannon" Hudson never won. In fact, his trophy case is plenty
full. His IKF Gold includes

Hudson has plenty of other collections in his trophy
case, but the one he wanted most, as all Amateur Fighters do, was the IKF Tournament Title. However, for whatever reasons,
Hudson came up short on every try and he didn't come up short to any "Chumps"
either... Take a look at his competitions fight records!
- 2001
IKF/RINGSIDE USA National Amateur Kickboxing
Championships
Holiday Inn, Olathe/Kansas City, Kansas,
USA, September 7th, 8th & 9th, 2001.
- Entering the tournament with a 2-1 record, Hudson lost in the
prelim round to eventual Champion Danny Griffin of Lake in the Hills,
Illinois, USA (4-1/3) by unanimous decision, 30-27, 29-28 & 30-27.
The next day,
- 2002
IKF USA National Amateur Kickboxing Championships
River
Center, Davenport, Iowa, USA, august 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 2002
- After advancing to the Championship bout, Hudson lost to
Kevin Engle
of St Louis, Missouri, USA (14-3/8) by unanimous decision 29-28, 30-27 &
30-27. Engle went on to be a 2 time IKF
Tournament Champion, later fighting for the IKF
Amateur World title and lost to Stephen Thompson.
- 2002
IKF North American Amateur FCR Championships
Simpsonville,
South Carolina, November 16th, 2002
- WOW What a WAR! In the end, Peyton Russell of Minneapolis, Minnesota,
USA (26-4/6) defeated Hudson by 5 round decision. We can't tell
you what bout one judge was watching who gave Russell all 5 rounds
scoring it 50-45, but the other two judges saw the fight we saw. One judge gave
them each 2 rounds and couldn't come to an answer in round 3 giving them both 10
for an ending score of 48-48. The third judge forced himself to a decision and
it was the small difference that gave the bout to Russell by majority
decision with a score of 48-47 Russell. Russell was a 2 time
IKF Tournament Champion and went on to
become a Pro IKF USA Champion.
- 2003
IKF/TKO USA National
Amateur Championship Tournament
US Cellular Center, Cedar Rapids,
Iowa, USA, August 15th, 16th & 17th, 2003
- Again after advancing to the Championship bout, Hudson lost to
Anthony McGaughey
of Norman, Oklahoma, USA (26-1-1/16) as McGaughey successfully
defended his 2002 title defeating Hudson by unanimous decision, 30-27,
29-28, 30-27 in a bout that was closer than the scores sound. This was McGaughey's
4th IKF National Tournament Title. In 2005
McGaughey won the IKF Amateur Full
Contact Rules Amateur Light Middleweight World title and eventually retired in
2008.
- 2003
IKF North American Amateur FCR Championships
Greenville,
South Carolina, USA, November 15th, 2003
- All of the IKF North American Title
bouts were scheduled for 5 rounds. However, try telling that to Shannon
Hudson and Marcelo Bezon of (Wavonda, Illinois, USA, 7-1/0).
These two ended 5 with a majority draw which forced a 6th round. This still
wasn't enough as this round ended in a split decision draw. Finally in the 7th
round, or second sudden death round, Bezon took the win and the title.
This was the first ever IKF North American
tournament overtime victory and STILL to this day, the longest Amateur
bout in IKF history! Bezon later
turned pro and fought on the Miami Force kickboxing team of the now defunct
World Combat league.
- 2004
IKF/TKO NORTH
AMERICAN CLASSIC Amateur Kickboxing Championships
Wyndham Palace Resort & Spa In The Walt Disney World
Resort, Orlando, Florida, USA, August 13th, 14th & 15th, 2004.
- In what would be Shannon's last IKF
Tournament appearance, and after winning his two prelim bouts by TKO and
unanimous decision, he fell short again this time by the
"Madman" Mike
Morello of Santa Barbara, California, USA (8-5-1/2) by
unanimous decision 29-28, 29-28 & 30-27. Morello won several amateur titles
with the IKF before turning pro. You will read more about Mike below.
Like many kickboxers Shannon was hesitant on turning
pro. With little pro action happening in kickboxing, it was a risky decision.
How long would it be between bouts was probably his biggest worry. To fill the
void, Shannon thought he would also include pro boxing in his fight
sports. Having been successful as an amateur boxer with a record of 6-2, he
stepped into his first pro boxing bout on June 1st, 2006. However, the 4 round
majority decision loss was not what "The Cannon" had
hoped for. As always, he vowed to redeem himself and did. Four months later he
was back in the pro boxing ring again winning the first of 4 straight bouts, all
by TKO or KO and only 1 of them lasting more than 1 round. His last of those 4
was in January of 2008.
Today though Shannon can look at his past and say
that "Everything, win or lose, had prepared
him for this moment."
A moment he took full
advantage of. It was his opportunity to prove to everyone as we have always
believed, that he is "The Best" despite his loses. As Muzammal
Nawaz went out with his sword in his hand, Shannon took the title
from one of the best! As Nawaz said it for us all after the fight, and
it's all that needs to be said right now, Shannon "The Cannon
Hudson is the world champion for right now and he deserves that!" More
so than any of you may ever know. Congratulations CANNON!
From The London Community News PRESS: The
main event of the black-tie charity affair saw Burlington native Muzammal
Nawaz put his light middleweight belt (153-159 pounds) on the line
against Shannon Hudson (29-1). The fight was a rematch from two years
ago when Nawaz defeated Hudson in a split decision victory. The
31-year-old Shannon proved to be too much for his 42-year-old opponent
the second time around though, in what Nawaz said was his final match.
Nawaz fought with mostly power, bull rushing his opponent with a barrage
of punches and willing to take a few in the attacks until the sixth round when
Shannon's fists of fury caught up to Nawaz leaving him a bloody
nose. A series of hooks to the head and body dropped Nawaz twice at the
midway point of the 12-round fight, leaving the champion exhausted and falling
on his own in the final 30 seconds of the round. Nawaz failed to come
out for the seventh round handing the light middleweight crown to his South
Carolina opponent. "I'm actually going to be at ringside for Shannon's
next fight cheering him on," Nawaz said. "He is the
world champion for right now and he deserves that."

IKF PRO FCR SUPER
WELTERWEIGHT WORLD TITLE *DEFENSE
Brad Fowler, London, Ontario, Canada 14-6/9, A: 2-1/1,
152, 5'8", 2-11-69 VS Mike
Morello, Santa Barbara, California, USA, C: 13-7-1/2, 152, 5'10",
5-29-72. WINNER: Brad Fowler by unanimous
decision, 115-113, 117-111 & 116-112.
The super welterweight (147-153 pounds) championship
was also on the table, with Brad Fowler defending his crown against Mike
Morello in a bout that had the crowd at the London Convention Centre on
their feet from start to finish.
Fowler had the London crowd behind him, in his first fight in his
hometown, but it didn't seem to discourage Morello, as the two seemed
content with standing their ground and trading punches- testing the others chin.
Both opponents abandoned their kickboxing for large portions of the fight,
using their boxing skills to throw heavy punches that dazed their opponent but
it was a battle of heart as neither men were willing to go down by the end of
the 12 rounds. The hometown hero came out with the victory in a unanimous
decision and after the fight announced his retirement. "I knew it was
going to be a good fight, I knew there's was going to be times when I would have
to box and throw a couple hard shots here and there and that's what I did,"
Fowler said.
Canada's Brad Fowler has waited two years to erase
his bitter sweet title victory from his mind. it was back on October 17th, 2009
in Ontario, Canada, when Fowler was suppose to prove to the world he was
a true WORLD CHAMPION! However, Fowler never even got the chance to
throw one punch let along any kicks. At weigh-ins, his scheduled opponent Fernando
Calleros of New Mexico came in "18 lbs. overweight and the bout was
scratched. Fowler won the title on the scales, but not at all how any
true Champion want's to win the Gold. This being said, Fowler has waited
TWO YEARS to try and redeem himself. Finally the opportunity came as Fowler
would find himself in a bout much more than he probably expected against "The
Madman", Mike Morello.
Toe to toe these two seemed to match up pretty evenly.
Neither threw more than 14 kicks a round and both pretty much stayed at the 9-10
kicks per round range. Although the ring canvas was extremely slippery, it
seemed to play a bigger part in this bout than the other bouts. Both these guys
wanted to kick more but the slippery canvas just wouldn't allow it. In one of
the opening rounds Morello caught Fowler with a good shot. Some
could have called it a knockdown while others saw Fowler be the victim
of the slippery canvas, unable to keep himself on his feet after the shot.
What we were most surprised about was the lack of power shots
in this bout. Neither fighter seemed to ever have the other in trouble so in
turn, it became more of a point game. Morello kept the pressure on
throughout most the fight however, when close, he never seemed to land the
shots. Fowler on the other hand, seemed to counter pretty effectively
from his heels most the fight. We kept thinking of an old trainers lesson, "DON'T
charge into the house to just look around, you have to take something from your
opponent and get out quick!" Well, Morello seemed to move in
with his head down, which became an easy target for Fowler, and once
inside, Morello never unloaded like a true "Madman!"
Choosing to play the conservative fight game, Morello seemed as though
he was pacing himself for a 12 round battle. Midway through the fight it was
still anyone's fight. After the midway point of 6 rounds the judges had it 58-56
Fowler, 59-55 Fowler and 57-57 even.
By round 10 though the gap had opened. Fowler had
already figured out how to counter Morello's head first approach, and
now he was just adding to his options of what to do when Morello
cornered him. Morello had loads of chances to open up with a "Madman's"
barrage but sadly, he never did as he continued to be conservative. Don't get us
wrong here, these two threw some HEAT! Both took some shots but
due to their toughness, they just brushed them off. It's just that when they did
land the big one, neither fighter followed it up. It was almost like they both
either feared or respected their opponents ability to counter with a knockout
blow.
At the end of 10 the judges scores were 97-93 Fowler,
98-92 Fowler and 96-94 Fowler. The judges seemed to be all over
the board in the final two rounds. One gave each of the final two rounds to Morello
10-9, the other gave both rounds to Fowler 10-9 and the 3rd judge split
them at 10-9 for Morello in the 11th and 10-9 for Fowler in the
12th.
In the end Fowler got the win 115-113, 117-111 and
116-112. This was an awkward bout to score. Neither fighter stood out yet
neither backed off either. Morello seemed to be tired from the travel from
California but in talking with him after the bout, he said he was fine. However,
the short warm-up he had could have caused him to come out a little soft. We
really wanted to see an explosive war here, but what we saw was more of a
technical point battle. This is not a bad thing, it's just what it was.
Congratulations to Brad Fowler for attaining his IKF Gold the way a real fighter wants to, in the
ring against a strong opponent. As for Morello though, it appears Fowler
has announced his retirement which means we may see the "MADMAN"
back in the ring for another chance at his much desired IKF Gold before you can blink an eye. All he needs
now is a promoter willing to host it.

Here is how the

Jesse
Ronson, London, Ontario, Canada, P: 2-0/0,
PMMA: 7-2/4, AKB: 23-1/17, AMMA: 3-0/3, AB: 5-1/4,

Canada, 1-0/0, AKB: 14-1/7, 156, 6', 11-1-86, Paul Minhas, (416) 289-9997. WINNER: Jesse Ronson by unanimous decision, 39-37, 39-37 &
40-36.
From The London Community News PRESS:Fowler
wasn't the only one showing off his fighting skills in front of the home crowd,
as London's middleweight (159-165 pounds) Jesse Ronson was put
on the undercard against Troy Sheridan, making his professional debut.
Sheridan put up a good fight but Ronson showed his years of
comfort in the professional spotlight, gliding around the ring and having his
rookie opponent swinging for air.
Ronson countered time and time again, leaving Sheridan with a
bloody nose by the fourth and final round of the fight. The hometown favorite
took home the victory with a unanimous win.

Shearer, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, 1-0/0, 10-2/0, 127, 5'4",
10-15-81, Jason Mancini, (705) 749-9056. WINNER:
Anna Shearer by unanimous decision, 40-36 on all 3 judges cards.
From The London Community News PRESS: To
open the show, Theodora Pistolis was taking her second test in the
professional ring against Peterborough's Anna Shearer in a featherweight
(125-130 pounds) matchup. It may have been Shearer's first fight
as a professional but it barely looked like it as she went the four-round
distance against Pistolis, winning every round on all three judges
scorecard to pick up her first win.
Congratulations
to the Promoters for a great night of Pro IKF
Kickboxing. Now if we can only get more and more of these events, we may
see that next horizon for not just Pro Kickboxers but a place that all the great
amateur kickboxers can go!

IKF NEWS...
CHALLENGES OF REGULATING
AND THE SUCCESS OF THE WORD "POINT"
IN IKF POINT
KICKBOXING
About a month ago we posted this
article on the IKF Point Kickboxing news page. The
response from it was vast from fighters and trainers explaining to us how they
are aware of one promoter here in California who has outright "Stolen"
the term "POINT" Kickboxing and
not only tried to claim it for themselves, but also make the claim that "THEY"
actually invented the "NAME" - "POINT"
Kickboxing. Other trainers and fighters informed us of yet another promoter who
has taken the actual "RULES" of IKF Point Kickboxing and just changed the
name and claimed to have created their own sport. However, it seems many that
read the IKF News page here missed this
article on the IKF
Point Kickboxing News page so we thought we would re-post it and
add a little more to it where needed since the last posting.
As with any new concept, the IKF
has experienced some imitators out there that have been illegal using the
copyrighted name "POINT" in
front of the word "Kickboxing". (meaning all styles of kickboxing)
in their tournaments. Kickboxing of course is NOT copyrighted. However, when
used together, "POINT KICKBOXING"
IS!
This illegal use of placing the word "POINT" in front of either KICKBOXING or MUAY
THAI does not mean the same for these other events. For many, the term "SEMI"
contact goes out the door and the bouts become "Whatever the referee
feels like" instead of the well controlled bouts of IKF Point Kickboxing.
The IKF brand has clearly
been the leading force in pushing this great concept across the United States
and abroad. European countries have had semi contact kickboxing with a similar
concept as in the United States for quite some time now, and the concept is
becoming more and more popular here in the USA. There is no doubt that if done
correctly, semi contact Kickboxing and in particular, IKF Point Kickboxing, is a great means for
fighters to start, develop, as well as enhance their stand up fighting
techniques. Unfortunately, some who are doing these so-called semi contact
events are not adhering to the semi contact...no knockout rules.
Because of their action, State Regulators for fight sports (California State
Athletic Commission) are getting closer and closer to closing
down these "Imitated" Semi Contact Kickboxing events. The
other big difference here is that the IKF
received direct acceptance and approval from the
California State
Athletic Commission, to sanction and regulate the IKF Point Kickboxing / Muay Thai
bouts and events, something NO OTHER promoter of semi contact Kickboxing
or Muay Thai has ever done.
The IKF is adamant about
the contact levels and strictly enforces the matches not turning into full
contact bouts. Full contact bouts are illegal in states like California without
the oversight of the California
State Athletic Commission.
The difficult part in this scenario is to educate trainers,
fighters and fans to what they are getting into before they enter these events.
Those that improperly using the "copyrighted" Point Kickboxing term for
their events as a cliché
when in fact it's not just a cliché. This name was included in an entire
copyrighted Kickboxing manual (The
Art of Kickboxing) many years ago by Johnny Davis (A
former two time world champion and author of the manual) that copyrights the
name "Point" Kickboxing which is
clear and precise.
Through this manual and years before on popular websites like
the IKF's, IKF Point Kickboxing was introduced to the
United States and the "Point"
Kickboxing" term blanketed the world as it made sense to the concept of the
sport and the intent of its participants. Davis is now the IKF Point Kickboxing
World President.
Additionally, there have been many appointments of leadership
for IKF Point
Kickboxing. People such as IKF
Chief Official Dan Stell
and his wife Valinda Stell were recently appointed as as IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing
Coordinators. Along with having great knowledge of the rules and regulations of
IKF PKB,
Dan is also a top official and referee for the
California State
Athletic Commission (CSAC) He understands the rules and the
difference between contact levels. As a former fighter and Kickboxing Champion,
Dan has a vast knowledge in an assortment of fighting styles and has
refereed thousands of matches. Moreover, he has been involved with IKF Point Kickboxing
since the inaugural event in San Jose, California, held at Evergreen Community
College over twelve years ago. Dan and his wife's role will be to
increase IKF Point
Kickboxing events in the state as well as abroad...working with
potential promoters to assure their events are run fairly and smoothly and
adhering to the IKF
Point Kickboxing guidelines. He can be contacted at (707) 372-0882 or
by email at Bambamstell@aol.com
Others involved with IKF Point Kickboxing include
Daniel "Hitman"
Hodges, who is a two time IKF
Kickboxing Champion who now lives in San Diego, California. He has also been
appointed as an
IKF PKB
Representative in the San Diego, California area. Hodges will be
organizing with potential promoters and clubs in that area to expand IKF Point Kickboxing
even more. He can be contacted at (916) 761-6998 or by email at
dhodges0331@gmail.com

The Graveyard
of Cut and Paste
We here at the IKF are
familiar with people taking things from us and calling them their own. From the
basic cut and paste of our rules pages on here as well as our
ISCF MMA
site to how we run our IKF Tournaments. As they say,
"Imitation Is The Best Form Of
Flattery."
However, after awhile it just gets old and
for those involved... SAD...
With our ISCF
Organization, we have had them not just cut and paste the rules and regulations,
and leave other ISCFMMA.com page links in
their cut and paste, but also, a promoter out of Idaho actually went one step
further when he completely copied the ISCF
logo and just changed the name. This act was probably the most bold move we have
seen over the years.
We can name quite a few other trainers and promoters who were
not satisfied with being a part of the IKF
or ISCF because of reasons like, *They wanted their own friends or family members to
be officials for their own fighters on their own events. *They wanted their fighters to fight for world
titles against an unknown guy down the street who didn't qualify for a title. *They wanted to give out titles like it was
Halloween in hopes of making loads of money. *They
were not happy with the title such as director or representative... They
wanted to be called "PRESIDENT".
These individuals wanted to be trainer, promoter and
sanctioning body president and offer their own fighter title fights with
unqualified contenders. However, HOW can you have an actual "CONTENDER"
if you don't have any "RANKINGS" to include them in to be
called "CONTENDERS" in the first place?
Of course, ALL of them claimed they were going to have
their own detailed ranking system to list their "Contenders" in... But
they never got around to doing such a thing... They ALL planned to have an
active news page with all kinds of Kickboxing and Muay Thai news. Some even
started doing news... which ended within a few months because they either didn't
have anything to write about, didn't do enough events, or, just not be able to
write in the first place... ALL of them vowed to their followers that they were
going to have a complete and detailed upcoming events page... However, we have
yet to ever see one giving all the information we do for events. Most of the
time, if anything, they post up a poster that the promoter sends to them. There
have been all kinds of other vowed promises such as fighter pensions, fighter
medical insurance, and the one that many seem to bite on all the time is "We
are the only sanctioning body that will get you into the OLYMPICS!".....
OK, we've heard it all, and NO ONE has done anything they promised
unless they received one thing in return... MONEY!
If it doesn't make them money, THEY DROP THE IDEA!
Funny thing though is the reason the IKF
as well as the ISCF are the successful
organizations they are is because we do all these things, EVEN the ones
that DON'T make us loads of Money! WHY? Because as another
saying goes, "If not now, when? If not us, WHO?"
Everyone reading this page now knows, and can be assured, "The
IKF (as well as the ISCF) will never forget you nor will we let others forget
you."
- Were you a past Pro Champion? If so, good luck in reading about yourself on
the pages of any other sanctioning body you won your title from. As most tell
us, "The only pages I get to read about myself on is on my own website."
Not if you were an IKF PRO Champion. Just
go to the Past IKF Pro Champions Page and
you will see for yourself, you will be remembered forever... Click
HERE!
- What's that, you were an AMATEUR Champion? Worse yet if the only title you
won was from another organization. Chances are, SEVERAL people held or even
currently hold the same title you held at the same time somewhere else along
with several other people. Why do you think these other organizations don't list
their Amateur as well as Pro champions? So they can sell the same title more
than once. How do we know this? Because we have found this out NUMEROUS times.
Even before the IKF started, this was "COMMON"
with the ALL the sanctioning bodies out there and easier to do since there was
no internet to keep track of these Champions. One of our WKA Amateur
Champions had the privilege of holding the "Same WKA USA Title"
as 4 others at the SAME TIME. And that's just the ones we found out
about... This doesn't happen in the IKF.
Check out the Past IKF Amateur Champions
page by clicking HERE!
- Still fighting? Still a Champion? We haven't forgotten you! If you ever
fought on an IKF Sanctioned event, and
you're still fighting or still holding an IKF
title, your still on the IKF Rankings
Page. Find all the IKF Pro and Amateur
Rankings by clicking HERE!
- Fought in an IKF Tournament? We remember you too, win or lose, when you
fought, who you fought and the bout outcome from the very first IKF Tournament back in 1999 to now can be found on
the IKF Amateur Tournament page.
HERE!
- Were you truly a kickboxer before? No Really now... "YOU" - YEARS
AGO? YOU once fought in the ring? Well, if it was on an IKF event, this proof will always be there. Just go
to the "PAST IKF NEWS PAGE"
by clicking HERE!
- Where are some of the past "SuperStars" of Kickboxing?
Well, some are talked about on our "Where Are They Now" page,
and MANY more continue to follow. Read about them by clicking
HERE!
- What else does the IKF Offer for you
in this sport? INFORMATION!
That's right, our competition thought they
would call the IKF the INTERNET
Kickboxing Federation. All thought they would get a laugh out of it.
However, the truth is, we have no problem with that name. Especially since we
seem to be the ONLY Sanctioning body for Kickboxing and Muay Thai on the
Internet that "TRULY CARES" about everyone in the sport from fighters,
trainers, promoters to officials. This is proven in our hard work to make them
known today, and to keep them remembered tomorrow. Check out what we have to say
about the INTERNET Kickboxing Federation by clicking
HERE!
Promises, Promises... Easy to make, hard to keep.. the IKF has committed to you and the fight sports since
1992. Every year we step it up more and more, while still keeping your costs
down. For example, the IKF Tournament
Registration Fee of $55 has been the same since 2002! Yet we give out more gifts
and awards than ANY other Amateur Championship Tournament in the World! IKF Sanctioning Fees have been the same since 2005!
Yet we continue to improve things like the IKF
Title Belts and offer everyone more and more exposure for their events!
Still, these individuals who were not proud enough to be good
trainers or good promoters wanted to be more. They wanted more power over more
people so they simply went off and started their own sanctioning body...again...
with the help of the "Cut and Paste" technique. Surly you know
some of these individuals, and may have even fought for them, and maybe still
do... IF they are still in business or still promoting that is.
Here in California alone, the "Graveyard of Cut
and Past" number is "11". What is our "Graveyard
of Cut and Paste" number? Since the IKF
was created in 1992, this is how many individuals or promoters wanted to have
their own titles. Sure, they all started out with big dreams of being the
biggest and the best sanctioning body in the world... Until they found out how
much work it was to even keep existing, let along be successful as well as
credible. For whatever their reasons, they wanted to create their own Kickboxing
or Muay Thai Titles. Sadly, for not just them, but the fighters who won these
titles, the word "Graveyard" was added because "ALL"
but 1 of them are dead now and the only reason the lone one exists is because
he's a Promoter and owns the sanctioning body... And you guessed it, on his
events is the only place you will find titles from his sanctioning body...
The Champions who won their titles from these defunct
sanctioning bodies now have no where to refer people to if someone wants to
confirm their accomplishments and assure they are credible, let alone prove to
someone they were once a true Champion. If you were one of them, you may want to
think about adding the IKF Gold to your
trophy case.
Thankfully, all the
IKF Champions are still in place... Right here on the IKF
web pages, where you will always be...
The IKF has always
been, and will always be here FOR YOU! From experience we discovered that
there are 5 things that make an organization successful. These 5 things have
always been the focus of organizational growth for the IKF
World TEAM. Everyday, the IKF World Team continues
to work to create an organization that gives pride and recognition to all 5 of
these things; Fighters, Trainers,
Officials, Event Promoters and Sponsors. HOWEVER, let us add 3
more... Don't forget the Friends, Family & FANS who make the sport worth it
all, The Great Sports of
MUAY THAI
& KICKBOXING!!!!!
