Brandon del Gaudio delivers what he calls If your a Fighter, Trainer, Fight Fan or

like this one,
He joined the U.S. Army at the prompting of his father. After graduating from Officer Candidate School he attended and graduated from both Army Airborne and Ranger training at the very top of each class. He was selected for U. S. Army Special Forces Training but refused so that he could attend pilot training where he earned his wings, and became an accomplished U.S. Army helicopter (gun ship) pilot, and achieved the rank of Captain. He was about to be promoted to the rank of Major, and appointed to teach at West Point when he resigned his commission from the Army to go into music and acting. You can tell in this video that his time in the military means a lot to him. I won't give away who it is. Just watch. I bet you'll be surprised as surprised as I was! CLICK HERE. |

AK Promotions President Johnny Davis (Right) and his AKP Team is proud to announce they have confirmed the long awaited World Title fight between Katrina "The Storm" Nahe of Antioch, California, USA (*7-0 with 3 KO'TKO's) and Tisha Balentien of Almere, The Netherlands (Holland) Many here in the USA know about Nahe's accomplishments and many in Europe most likely know about Balentien's However, for those around the world reading this, it's probably best we get you all aquainted with both of these outstanding fighters Tisha Balentien has an obvious impressive record of 27 wins with 4 loses. 11 of those wins came by way of KO or TKO. (YouTube She comes from one of the most prominent areas in the world for Kickboxing...Holland! Few reading this need us to name drop some of the greatest fighters in the world from Holland, but just to make a point, lets just point out one who just so happens to be a female too... Legendary and undefeated Lucia Rijker! When Rijker retired from fighting she had an impressive pro record of 37-0, with 25 of her wins coming by way of KO or TKO. Without a doubt she was one of the best known female fighters in the world in her day and perhaps ever. While living here in the United States she later turned to professional boxing and amased a perfect 17-0 record with 14 of her wins coming by way of KO or TKO! We just added Rijker to our "Where are they Now" page, so if you don't know much about her, make sure you read about her below after we bring you up to speed on Nahe and Balentien. Balentien is an extraordinary talent in Holland and has also dominated her divisions for years. Strong, aggressive with bad intentions is one way to describe this confident fighter who is eager to test her experience against the skills of Nahe! At 15 years old, Balentien possesses speed, power and tenacity that is sure to give Nahe her toughest battle if not her first defeat. Managed by Joroen Jaring of Euphron International Sports Business, and trained by Ropie Adriaan of ROPIEGYM they are confident in their young fighter and feel she has what it takes to become a world champion. Her very proud mother ( Deborah Landvreugd ) is at the top of the world now and thankful for this opportunity. Deborah had called the IKF to inquire about this years 2012 IKF World Classic Tournament in Orlando Florida. While her and Fossum spoke, Fossum though if this girl is all her mom says she is, she may be the top contender we've been looking for to match up against Nahe in a legit World Title bout. Fossum's first thought was to match the two up at the World Classic Tournament as a special presentation bout. However, the IKF has a policy for the World Classic to try and not make any one bout, more important than the Tournament Title bouts. So Fossum presented the idea to Davis. Davis was not only excited, but proud to be offered such an opportunity. "Steve (Fossum) and I had been searching for a legit and credible opponent to match-up against Nahe for a long time now." Said Davis. "Deborah's call to the IKF came at the perfect time and presented the perfect opportinity for both ladies." In the phone conversation with Davis, Balentien's mom stated "My daughter has worked very hard and deserves this shot and I want to do everything I can to make it happen for her!" By the sound in her voice, one gets the impression that Balentien is not traveling across the North Atlantic Ocean to go back empty handed. |
|
Across the ring from Balentien will be Katrina Nahe. Believe it or not Nahe Vs Balentien will be seen as one of the most anticipated fights in Muay Thai Kickboxing in the United States in years by some circles. Nahe who is 5'4" and 14 years old has built a huge following to the size of what you see with professional athletes with literally hundreds of fans attending her fights. She has been training and fighting since the tender age of 5 years old and has dominated her divisions in the sport from day one. Katrina has won Three IKF World Classic Tournament titles (2007, 2009, and 2011. As many here know, the IKF World Classic Tournament. To add, just this past fall she also won the title at the 2011 IKF International West Coast Classic in Sacramento, California, USA. Both tournaments are in there own way, similar to the Golden Gloves tournament for boxing. In 2010 she won the IKF Junior Amateur Girls Western United States title on the scales when her opponent Aneka Otto of Scottsdale, Arizona failed to make the 105 weight, weighing in at 107. However, to prove her worth, Nahe fought her in a non title bout anyway, and won by unanimous decision, 39-37, 39-37 & 40-36.
Those who have witnessed Nahe in action know that she is like a demolition crew with non stop kicks, punches, knees and some attitude to boot. Laying it all on her opponents until they often give-in to the pressure! In an article on the internet somewhere, someone claimed the IKF stated that Nahe was the "IKF's Most Feared Teenage Female Fighter in the World". However, the IKF never made such a claim, and as a sanctioning body, would never make such a claim of any fighter. A claim that could be made though would be that Katrina is "ONE OF the Most Feared Teenage Female Fighter in the World" and the reason for such a claim would be that it's been hard for promoters to find a match for her. This is why this is such an important opportunity for BOTH Ladies, because THE SAME can be said for Balentien. She too has also had a tough time finding opponents. Despite what Nahe has faced up to now, she has never faced anyone like the 5'2" wrecking machine that's displayed all over You Tube clips in Tisha Balentien! Her YouTube commericials laced with raw lyrics tell an inside story to the mental toughness that she brings to the ring. |

STEPHEN "WONDERBOY"
THOMPSON
Simpsonville, South Carolina, USA
The
Bottom Of This Article Was by The MMAWeekly.com Staff
Abraham Lincoln once said, "I will prepare and some day my chance will come."... For one such Fighter, that time is NOW! Sadly (for Kickboxing that is...) at the time, it was the beginning of the MMA Explosion as UFC and Spike made a TV deal that would change the fighting world as everyone had known it! Thompson, like many Kickboxers or Muay Thai Fighters, faced a crossroads... Stick with what he knows he's good at (Kickboxing) or look to the future, work hard and somehow make the transition into a world unknown to him at the time, Mixed Martial Arts. For Thompson, and his Trainer/Father, Ray Thompson (At Left with Stephen in Montreal, Canada) it was a decision they would make and never look back on... It was into the world of Mixed Martial Arts! Of course there are many stories along the way as Thompson made the transformation. His MMA debut came on February 5, 2010 at the Greenville Kage Fighting event in Greenville, South Carolina against another MMA fighter making his Pro Debut, Jeremy Joles. Joles had a pretty good Amateur MMA career going 6-4, but for those looking on, many thought more about his 10 bout MMA experience against Thompson's NONE! Most predicted the young, innocent looking Thompson would learn an MMA lesson from Joles right out of the gate and would hobble (or maybe on a stretcher according to some) out of the MMA Cage back to kickboxing. Well, for the record, "We've heard this kind of talk MANY times before..." Like in many of his epic Kickboxing bouts, Thompson wasn't introduced to MMA this night... Instead, "MMA WAS INTRODUCED TO THE WONDERBOY!" After soaking in some desired "Cage Time" in round 1, Thompson worked over Jeremy Joles as he had done in well over 50 straight bouts before him, and as in every bout before this one, the result was the same, stopping Joles by TKO at 3:40 of round 2. ISCF MMA promoter Brett Moses played an important role in Thompson's Pro MMA career promoting 3 of his 5 bouts. During this time Thompson travelled as much as possible to learn more and more about the world of MMA as well as how to become a world class MMA Fighter. Time spent with MMA Superstars such as UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and former UFC middleweight Nate Marquardt were as valuable as gold as Thompson soaked in as much as he could while gaining more and more respect from fighters like them. Time went by and after the UFC decided not to feature the 170 lb division in their upcoming show, Thompson probably thought a major door had closed on him and his much desired Pro MMA Career. However, today, all that changed... MMAWeekly.com Staff: An injury has forced a change to the UFC 143 card as Mike Stumpf is out, and Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson has been signed as his replacement. UFC officials announced the move on Tuesday with Thompson now facing former 'Ultimate Fighter' competitor Justin Edwards on the Super Bowl weekend card. First profiled by MMAWeekly.com in Oct 2011, Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson is a life long martial artist who started out as a very successful kickboxer before moving into the world of MMA. Thompson amassed an incredible 57-0 record as a kickboxer with 40 knockouts to his credit, but a knee injury forced him to the sidelines and that's where his attention turned to MMA. His record has remained perfect as a fighter and Thompson has also picked up some training with UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and his coach Firas Zahabi in Montreal over the last several months. Thompson was actually brought into their camp in Oct last year as a double to mimic what opponent Carlos Condit was expecting to do in his fight with St-Pierre. Now Thompson gets his chance on the biggest stage as he makes his UFC debut on Feb 4 in Las Vegas. |

The Doubletree Hotel located at 2001 Point West Way in Sacramento will be the meeting place for this occasion of approximately 15 bouts that will take place in the squared circle to see who reigns superior with feet and fists fury! The show will kick off as previous shows have with a traditional Lion Dance presented by Gee Yung Lion Dance Assoc. of San Francisco. The Lion Dancers will bless the arena in a beautiful ceremonial performance just in time for the Chinese New Year. This show will be a particularly special occasion for two fighters as they challenge for a shot at becoming the top Light Middleweight amateur fighter in the world for the International Kickboxing Federation ( IKF). Damien Early (See Poster at Right) of Phoenix Arizona (12-1) will go head to head with undefeated Ed Abasolo (See Poster at Right) of Vallejo, California ( 8-0 ). This should be an excellent fight and testament to great skill and will power! Others taking center stage that evening will be Dee Alhadi of San Jose, California battling Alec Gonzales of Vallejo, California for the IKF Lightweight Muay Thai title in full rules which includes the use of elbows. Coda Taylor of San Luis Obispo, California will take on Brandon Del Guadio for the IKF California Super Middleweight Championship in full rule Muay Thai. This should be a good matchup as both trainers are well known in the fight industry and should have both fighters ready for the test! At press time, IKF Full Muay Thai Rules West Coast Super Welterweight Champion Quincy Schoeman, (7-3) of Oakdale, California is in the process of seeking a new opponent for another title opportunity as his opponent, Anthony Acosta of San Leandro, California was injured in training for the fight. Those interested with the right skills and ready for the challenge can contact AK Promotions at (916) 205-4762. However, there will be no limit of great action on this holiday Sunday evening! Here is a short run down of some anticipated fights that should delight the fans! Skilled Rich Davis (L) of Rocklin, California who many have witnessed his impressive kicking and boxing technique in semi contact IKF Point Kickboxing competition and a few full contact fights will be taking on long awaited rival Gary Grant (R) of Antioch, California. Both men have been eying each other for years and were suppose to meet at last Fall's IKF West Coast Classic that was recently held in Sacramento at the Radisson Hotel...a tournament much like the IKF World Classic which resembles the Golden Gloves in Boxing. Based on the weight classes each fighter signed up for, Davis was unable to make the weight...allowing a walkover win for Grant. This time around, there will be no excuses and both men are expected to come in ready and able to do battle! The big question is...who will be able to walk out of the ring with bragging rights? Who's willing to give the extra 10% to get the "W"?...it all remains to be seen! This should be a delightful battle between two heavyweight fighters seeking to carve their path in the world of Kickboxing. Additionally, tall and slim fighting machine and IKF/PKB prodigy Robert Burgess (L) of Ceres, California will fight local Modesto rival Jamie Pheap. If Burgess can get by Pheap, there's sure to be a title opportunity in the near future. For those who may remember 6'3" Eric Regan out of Roseville, California who was an IKF Champion Kickboxer and later won a title in Pro Boxing, to see Burgess in action is almost identical to that of Regan. |
|
Both Burgess and Pheap are from the same area but different gyms and both are seeking to prove who has the better training :)...yep, should be high drama in this one! Trainer/ fighter Ivan Ramos of San Leandro will take on Elvin Deleon of Vallejo who stepped in to replace Phil Devera of San Jose. Ramos was originally scheduled to fight Devera but due to reason out of his control, Devera had to pull out but is looking for another shot at Ramos down the road. Ramos, as well as Deleon's team always brings a big crowd, so this fight should be full of electricity! Here is what if for sure...
Things also look good for Bell Tran (6-1) to make his first defense of his IKF Full Muay Thai Rules California Bantamweight Title next month, on Sunday, February 19th, 2012 at AK Promotions Oakland, California event. Tran won the title this past October 8th, 2011, in Oakland, California when he defeated Ron Jacildo by unanimous decision, 48-47, 48-47 & 49-46. His challenger will be IKF West Coast Classic Champion - Marlon Telmo of Fairfield, California (6-4). Side Note: AK Promotions
is also making resolutions to make it a momentous year for the sport of Muay
Thai Kickboxing in the State of California.
