It's that time of year again as everyone is training hard to get ready to "Walk the Walk" at the IKF World Classic Tournament.

This years 2013 IKF World Classic Amateur Kickboxing & Muay Thai Championship Tournament "Return Of The Gladiators" will be held on July 19th, 20th & 21st 2013. The Tournament will be held at the same location as last years Tournament, The Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida, USA! As Always, we strongly suggest you

MAKE THIS TRIP A VACATION TOO!

Fighters, Trainers, Family & Friends, use the IKF Kickboxing name and book your rooms for not only the days of the Tournament, but you can also book at the IKF Rate of Only $139 Per Night, 5 Days Prior to the IKF Tournament and 5 Days After! That's about $150 less per night as compared the the regular rate! (July 15th Through July 27th!) There are only a limited number of "Additional Room Nights" Available outside our IKF Event Date Room Block, So you need to book these early while they last. Don't just make it an Event, "Make It A Vacation!"

THE FIRST DEADLINE DATE OF
MAY 24th, 2013!

1. WHAT HAPPENS AT FIRST DEADLINE OF MAY 24th, 2013?
   • A LOT!
     • Today, April 23rd, we are 40 days away from the FIRST DEADLINE of MAY 24th for this years 2013 IKF World Classic Tournament.
       
       
     • The only BRACKETS or WEIGHT DIVISIONS that remain open and available to join by end of day of the first deadline of MAY 24th, 2013 will be those with a minimum of 1 fighter registered in them. So if you are waiting for a bracket to fill, you could very well miss out on fighting in your preferred weightclass and rule style if you don't register prior to the First Registration Deadline of MAY 24th, 2013!
       
       
       
     • At the end of the first deadline, "SEEDING" no longer matters for last years Champions (Who automatically attain a number 1 seeding if they register before the first deadline and in the same division as they won last year).
       • After the first deadline of MAY 24th, 2013, seeding is confirmed by the date your registration is received.
       • After the first deadline date of MAY 24th 2012 Champions (As in the same weightclass & Rule Division as 2012) will no longer be automatically seeded number 1.
       • After the first deadline date of MAY 24th having registered for a Regional Seeding event will not give you a higher seeding.
       • Prior to the first deadline of MAY 24th if you are not a returning 2012 Champion and you do not attend a Regional, you will be seeded according to WHEN your registration was received here at the IKF Offices - 2012 Champions will be seeded above you up until the first deadline date of MAY 24th, 2013.
       • After the first deadline of MAY 24th ALL FIGHTERS will be seeded according to WHEN your registration is RECEIVED here at the IKF Offices, NOT POSTMARKED.
         
         
   • LAST YEARS NOTES
     • Last year, 2 days prior to the first deadline we had 104 registered fighters.
     • By the end of the first deadline day last year the first deadline record was broken with a record number of 240 Registered Fighters...
     • When the registration stopped, we ended up with 298 Registered Fighters for the 2012 IKF World Classic of which, 228 Fighters made it to Orlando to "Walk the Walk!"

• MATCHMAKING
  • BEGINNING JUNE 7th: We will start placing notes at the top of certain divisions to try and make sure everyone has a match at the Classic.
    If not yet, you may see a note by your name asking you to move to another weightclass or rule style to create your tournament Bracket.
    The goal is to have a "Minimum" of 4 fighters in EVERY Fighter Bracket.
    This may not be possible in some cases where there just isn't anyone else to match you up with.
    In these extreme cases, we may have a Division with less than 4 fighters.
    
    
  • As noted above, when you answer these requests, PLEASE do so by e-mail at main@ikfkickboxing.com - This saves us time and allows us and you to have a record of the changes agreed on.
    
    
  • WHY A MINIMUM OF 4 FIGHTERS IN A DIVISION?
    • ONLY Divisions with 4 or more fighters will be BELT DIVISIONS!
    • However, if we cannot strengthen the division by combining divisions around yours, and all that is possible is a 2 or 3 fighter division, we will keep such a division as a BELT division.
    • REMEMBER: This is a "TOURNAMENT" which means we desire ALL Fighters to fight a minimum of 2 Times to win their "Tournament" Title.

• DIVISION/BRACKET CHANGE REQUESTS
  • Every year we have new fighters or trainers that are not aware of the reasons behind our requirements to switch a fighters fighting division after already being registered. The reason is simple. In the past, some fighters saw too much competition in their bracket division, so they asked to be moved where they may have less or easier fights to win their title. Because of this, we have created the following rule for Bracket change requests
    • You can only move to another bracket that has the same number or more fighters in it.
    • The bracket you move to must have equal or tougher competition (Reference to fight records).
    • Your reasons for change must be approved by the IKF. You can't just change because you want to, there needs to be a justified reason.
    • IF your request is approved, you will be placed at the BOTTOM of the bracket that you move to regardless of WHEN you registered.

• PHOTOS
  • If you are a Registered Fighter for the IKF World Classic and have the words "NEED PHOTO" listed after your name in the registered Fighters Brackets, you have until FRIDAY, JULY 5th, 2013, 12 NOON to get your photo to us to avoid paying a $35 Photo Fee at Registrations "EVEN IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN PHOTO TO REGISTRATIONS."
    
    
  • Keep in mind this fee is a "Deterrent" so that all photos are in and we do not have long lines with People needing photos taken and passes made. If you still have the words NEED PHOTO by your name you can either express mail your 2" x 2" headshot photo to us or e-mail one to us in a jpg file.
    
    
  • WHY
    • ALL Photos are placed on your Tournament ID PASS. Without it, you will have to pay a spectator ticket fee to enter the Tournament. The photo is to prevent someone else using your ID Pass if you should lose it or have it stolen.
      
      
  • TRAINERS...
    • As noted on your Trainers Registration Page if you have not sent in your Trainers Registration Form you will be paying $50 at the event, $55.00 if by credit card "EVEN IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN PHOTO TO REGISTRATIONS."

• REAL TRAINERS ONLY PLEASE...
  • Several registered trainers or trainers who try to register on registration day may be a little embarrassed when they discover they will not be granted an official Trainers pass for the entire weekend.
  • We have already informed several who have attempted to register family and friends as cornermen or cornerwomen to get a cheaper ticket to watch the event. Ladies and Gentlemen, this just isn't right...
  • To assure we will be able to afford future IKF Tournaments, PLEASE do not register your friends and or family as trainers and cornermen/women. PLEASE be honorable and inform us that they are not trained cornermen or women and if you have already registered them, or are one of these individuals we are talking about, ask us to put your paid fee towards your event pass.
  • You know who you are, whether we have already spoken to you or not. PLEASE do not come and try to register as a trainer or cornerman/women or pick up your pass when you know you will either be questioned or denied. We have done our best to provide a low fee for the TRUE and REAL trainers and cornermen/women of this tournament. Please allow us to have a positive experience. Please be honest and honorable. What we can say is that this year there will be some big names there representing both Kickboxing/Muay Thai and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).

The program is a full 8&1/2 X 11 inches in size. Ads very from a business card size ad starting at $50 up to a full page, full color for the back cover and inside back cover. All inside ads are done in black and white but the outside cover pages will be color ads. As of today, the back cover is still available, but we have had 2 sponsors that say they want it.

There will be some other additions to the program as well such as some feature articles and of course, LOADS OF PHOTOS From Past IKF Tournaments!

As many here know, the IKF Tournament has ALWAYS Provided The

"The DRAGON"
Will Be In the House At The
IKF World Classic!

In case you haven't heard yet, Don "The Dragon" Wilson will step back in the ring again this coming September on an IKF Sanctioned event in Turkey. However prior to that we will all get a chance to see him again as the Special Guest at this years IKF World Classic.

Wilson's Professional Kickboxing Record stands at 71 wins, 5 loses and 2 draws with 47 wins coming by the Knockout. He has been regarded as one of the greatest kickboxer of all time. This year, as every year, up and coming Amateur Muay Thai Fighters and Kickboxers will get a chance to rub shoulders with him all weekend long because "The DRAGON" will be "In The House" at this years 2013 IKF World Classic Amateur Championship Tournament! in Orlando, Florida, USA.

During his career Don won a total of 11 World Titles with several Sanctioning bodies that included the IKF, WKA, KICK, ISKA, STAR and the PKO. Never backing down from a challenge, Don has fought champions all around the world, in Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Thailand, Las Vegas and countless other locations.

In 1999 at 45 years of age, (Left) Don stepped back into the ring to fight for the vacant IKF Pro, FCR Cruiserweight World Title on May 15th, 1999 in Lowell, Massachusetts, USA against Dick Kimber for what is still this day, the highest kickboxing purse EVER paid, $150,000.00 and some additional training expenses. Kimber swore to everyone that he'd have the fight over before the fifth round. However when the Dragon unloaded on Kimber in round three, Kimber dropped to the mat and referee Dan Stell counted him out on the floor, a count that went into the round break. Kimber never stood during the count and to this date, Kimber never fought again. It had been over eight years since Don last entered the ring, but his trademark sidekick was stronger than ever. Wilson picked up the IKF Cruiserweight World Title for his efforts and Kimber kept his promise when this one was over in round 3. In 2001, having never been challenged for his title, Wilson Voluntarily Retired it to move down to the Light Heavyweight Division.

Over his career Wilson fought and defeated many Great fighters such as James Warring, Demetrius Edwards, Maurice Smith, Dennis Downey, Dennis Alexio, Branimir Cikatic, Mike Winkeljohn, Herb Thompson, Greg Smith, Muhammed Ashraf Tai, Panya Sornnoi, Pongdienoi Prasobchai, Rob Salazar, and a very controversial Draw against Jean-Yves Theriault which many thought Wilson clearly won.

After his first retirement from the ring, Wilson went on to yet another level of stardom as an action movie star. Movies to his credit include: The Last Sentinel (2007), Soft Target (2006), Sci-Fighter (2004), Stealing Harvard (2002), Redemption (2002), Moving Target (2000), The Capitol Conspiracy (1999), Whatever It Takes (1999), Inferno aka Operation Cobra (1998), Hollywood Safari (1997), Papertrail (1997), Night Hunter (1996), Virtual Combat (1996), Bloodfist VIII: Trained to Kill (1996), Cyber-Tracker 2 (1995), Bloodfist VII: Manhunt (1995), Batman Forever (1995), Ring of Fire 3: Lion Strike (1995), Bloodfist VI: Ground Zero (1995), Terminal Rush (1995), CyberTracker (1994), Red Sun Rising (1994), Bloodfist V: Human Target (1994), Out for Blood (1993), Ring of Fire II: Blood and Steel (1993), Bloodfist IV: Die Trying (1992), Blackbelt (1992), Bloodfist III: Forced to Fight (1992), Ring of Fire (1991), Future Kick (1991), Bloodfist II (1990), Bloodfist (1989) and Say Anything... (1989).

During this time Don married well known Film and Television Makeup artist Kathleen Karridene in 1996. They have three children together; Jonathan, Drayden, and Aubrianna. Over the course of his career Don won 11 world titles in 3 different weight divisions, something no other fighter has accomplished. Here is a list of his 11 World titles and some of his awards.

Defends IKF All Ireland Featherweight Title
For The Second Time!
Darryl Orr Defends IKF 5 Nations Welterweight Title & Amy Wilson Reclaimed her IKF All Ireland Light Welterweight Title!

IKF Promoter Joe Wilson put on a cracking show in Ramelton Community Centre, Donegal on Saturday 6th of April. The event featured three major IKF Titles bouts. The first title fight was a rematch between former champ and home fighter Amy Wilson who took on the reigning Champion Regina Fanning for the IKF All Ireland Light Welterweight title. Wilson had won the belt back in September 2012 and made a first defence to Regina Fanning in Thurles less than two months later. Fanning won that night but Wilson evened the score in Donegal and took the title back off Fanning after a fast paced and very technical five rounds. The referee commented that it was possibly the cleanness fight he ever reffed as neither fighter had to be broken up once throughout the bout.

Ciilin Boyce was to step up to fight for the IKF 5 Nations Belt but his English opponent suffered a broken toe less than two weeks to the fight night and it was called off. As Boyce is a big draw in the area, all efforts were made to secure a replacement and Boyces camp agreed to defend his Irish Title to Shane Marum from Portlaoise. The fight went the full championship distance of five two minute rounds but failed to excite. Both men seemed to be trying too hard and it resulted in a scrappy affair but in the eyes of the judges, Boyce did enough to retain his title.

The main event featured local hero Darryl Orr making a mandatory first defence of his IKF 5 Nations Welterweight title to teak tough Englishman Dean Petty. As far as main events go, it was a cracking finale to a great nights entertainment. Petty certainly came to fight as he pushed Orr back throughout the bout. However Darryl seemed happy enough to counter attack and chip, away at the old block. When decision time came, it was Darryls hand that was raised and he had successfully defended his crown but Dean Petty can surely hold his head high as he gave it everything and made Darryl work hard for his victory.

The IKF sanctioned its first Kickboxing show in Cork, Ireland this past weekend. The event was promoted by IKF Cork Promoter Liam Og Griffin in the impressive K2C Centre in Blackrock. The show had a good mixture of Light Contact Kickboxing, Full Contact Kickboxing and K-1. All the fights were well matched and the sport of Kickboxing has been given a good foothold in the Rebel County.
