IKF Stars On Big Shows!

Abraham Han of El Paso, Texas, USA was a three time IKF Tournament Champion who has made his mark in Professional Boxing. On February 6th, "Abie" as many know him in Boxing, will fight a 12 round title bout on on ESPN against Sergio Mora (Pro Boxing: 27-3-2 with 9 knockouts) of Los Angeles at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, USA. The bout comes on short notice for Han (Pro Boxing: 23-1 with 14 knockouts) The bout will be one of ESPN "Friday Night Fights" affair that will be for the vacant USBA Middleweight Title. "I'm very excited," Han said in his interview with Bill Knight of the El Paso Times. "This is a big shot at a big name opponent. I only have two weeks to prepare but, hopefully, I can do well and get a world title shot. I'm ready for this. These opportunities don't come around very often. To be honest, I'd take it even if I wasn't ready (laughter)." "Only someone who lives the kind of lifestyle Abie lives could do this," Han's trainer Louie Burke said in his interview with Bill Knight of the El Paso Times. "It's a Spartan lifestyle. Abie doesn't drink, he's always training, always teaching in his dad's karate school, always active. He doesn't have an ounce of body fat. It's a challenge. But I think Abie can do this." Jermaine Taylor, the IBF Middleweight Champion, was originally supposed to fight Mora in Biloxi. But he has run into difficulties with the law and his career appears in jeopardy. "They are talking about making this fight a title eliminator," Burke said. "That hasn't been finalized yet, but whoever wins this fight could get a chance to fight for the vacant world title." Han last fought in October, taking an impressive win over Marcos Reyes, a fighter who came in with a 32-1 record. Han said, "I've been training and I'm ready and I just have to stay focused. You have to begin working on Mora's style now. You have to go in with confidence and you have to make the adjustments when you get there. It's a chess match. Sergio is a smart, defensive, awkward, in-and-out type of fighter. I'll have to do whatever I can to make him feel uncomfortable." Han first became known to the IKF when he made his IKF Kickboxing Debut at the 2005 IKF North American Classic in Orlando, Florida, USA on August 19th, 20th & 21st. It was there that Han first impressed us taking home the Tournaments Light Middleweight (153.1 lbs to 159 lbs.) International Rules Title.Han (AKB: 77-12, AB: 51-22) defeated Michael Bernard of Durham, North Carolina, USA by TKO at 42 seconds of round 2. We next saw him at the 2006 IKF World Classic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA on July 28th, 29th & 30th. There he defended his Middleweight Title but sadly for us all, it was by walkover. Han's scheduled opponent was placed in the IR Division by mistake. Although this error was not discovered by his opponents trainer prior to weigh-ins, the IKF made the decision at weigh-ins to move Han's lone opponent where he had registered in the Muay Thai Division. Because of the error the IKF awarded him a "Walkover" title. The following year at the 2007 IKF World Classic Tournament in Orlando, Florida, USA on August 12th, 11th & 12th, Han was back to once again defend his title. However this year he had to move down a weightclass to the Light Middleweight. Once again, Abraham Han of El Paso, Texas, USA (81-12) took home another IKF title when he defeated Brunon Sokolowski of Skareysko - Kam, Poland by unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27 & 29-28. Abraham Han wasn't the only Han we were introduced to through those years. Along with Abie, he had 3 winning sisters as well. His sister Jennifer Han (Right) has moved into professional boxing with him and is currently Ranked 11 in the world and 3 in the USA in the featherweight division, she holds a professional boxing record of 11-3-1/1. Jennifer won her first IKF Title at the 2006 IKF World Classic. There she took home the International Rules Lightweight (121.1 lbs. - 132 lbs.) Title when she defeated Elizabeth Nagy of Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, USA by unanimous decision 30-27 on all 3 judges cards. At the 2007 IKF World Classic Tournament she moved up a weightclass and defeated Brittany Brown of Lenox, Georgia, USA by TKO at :42 seconds of round 1. His other 2 sisters, Stephanie Han (Left) and Heather Han (Left) were also 2 Time IKF Tournament Champions. Both won their titles in 2005 and 2006. At the 2006 IKF World Classic Stephanie took home the International Rules Super Lightweight ( 130.1 lbs. - 137 lbs.) title for Junior Girls ages 14-15 Year Old when she defeated Natalya Speece of San Diego, California, USA by unanimous decision 30-26, 30-26 & 29-27. Heather took home the Full Contact Rules Atomweight (102.1 lbs. - 109 lbs) Junior Girls Title, also for 14-15 Year Olds when she defeated Laryssa Zarate of Elgin, Illinois, USA by majority decision 28-28, 30-27 & 30-27. At the 2007 IKF World Classic Tournament Stephanie took home the Lightweight title (130.1 lbs. - 140 lbs.) for ages 15-16 when she defeated Alyssa Defazio of Wittmann, Arizona, USA by Split decision 29-28, 30-28 & 28-29. Heather took home the Full Contact Rules Bantamweight (110.1 lbs. - 120 lbs.) title for ages 16-17 when she defeated Danielle Byrne of Chicago, Illinois, USA by unanimous decision, 29-25 on all 3 judges cards. |

But Wait... There's MORE...

Few here on the IKF Pages need to be reminded of who Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson of Simpsonville, South Carolina, USA is. Thompson retired as an amateur fighter in May of 2004 with a record of 37 wins and 0 losses with 18 KO/TKO's. As an Amateur Kickboxer he won 16 Amateur Titles (6 of them with the IKF) which included every possible IKF title up to the IKF Amateur World Title. They are...
Thompson went through his Pro Kickboxing career undefeated as well. However, with few opportunities in Kickboxing, Thompson and his trainer/father Ray Thompson decided it was time to make a change of fight sports... Thompson dove into MMA. Thompson rattled off 5 straight wins going 5-0 before he got that that most MMA fighters long for, the call from the UFC. When the opportunity came, "The Wonderboy" didn't disappoint either. Thompson made sure he would not be forgotten as just another UFC debut fighter that simply won or lost his bout and moved on. For over 4 minutes of the first round, it appeared Thompson was never even touched by his opponent, 31 year old Daniel Stittgen (7-2 Pro, 2-0 Amateur MMA) of Schaumburg, Illinois as Thompson seemed to land his strikes at will. Just after the 4 minute mark of round 1, Thompson picked up his "Front" Right Leg and slapped Stittgen across the neck and jaw and dropped him like rock. The referee was quick to stop Thompson from moving in and good thing he did as Stittgen was OUT COLD at 4:13 of round 1. The win brought Thompson's Pro MMA record to a PERFECT 6-0, which when added to his kickboxing record of 51-0 brings him to a perfect 57-0. Thompson has improved his Pro MMA record to 10-1 with his only loss coming from ISCF Eastern Regional Champion Matt Brown. Brown defeated Thompson back in April of 2012 on UFC 145 by unanimous decision. Since the bout Brown has went 5-1 and Thompson has went 4-0. Many are sure these two will meet somewhere down the road again. However, for Thompson, his focus is on his bouts promotion to the Main Event at at the UFC Fight Night 60 this coming February 14, 2015 at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. A welterweight bout between Matt Brown and Tarec Saffiedine had been scheduled as the main event. However, on January 1, the UFC announced that Saffiedine had pulled out of the bout, citing a groin injury he sustained in training. On January 13, Brown was pulled from the event in favor of a matchup with former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks at UFC 185. Subsequently the welterweight bout between Thompson and Brandon Thatch was promoted to the main event. The bout puts Thompson right back in the same position he was for his first UFC bout when those words of Abraham Lincoln kept echoing in his head, "I will prepare and some day my chance will come."... February 14, 2015 is yet "Another" one of those chances for "The Wonderboy". Hopefully he takes advantage of it as he has every one before it.
Oh No... Wait... There's Even MORE...
Felice "Lil' Bulldog" Herrig It was even long before she was victorious over a Thailand Champion in the series Fight Girls, in 2007 which was a reality series on the Oxygen network that followed a group of women Muay Thai fighters vying for greatness in Thailand's national sport. On November 15, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois, USA Felice won the IKF Pro Muay Thai United States Bantamweight Title when she defeated Katie Meehan by unanimous decision, 49-46, 48-47 and 49-46. Herring still holds her IKF Pro Title and has never been challenged for it. She also enjoyed a stint fighting in Chuck Norris' now-defunct kickboxing promotion, World Combat League. It was as an Amateur fighter though where we first got to know Felice. As an Amateur she won 2 IKF Amateur Classic Tournament Titles She won the 2005 IKF North American Classic Amateur Tournament in Orlando, Florida, USA on August 21st when she defeated Terri French of Little Rock, Arkansas, USA by unanimous decision 30-27 on all 3 judges cards. In 2006 she won the 2006 IKF World Classic Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA on July 30th when she defeated Stacy Chung of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada by unanimous decision 29-28 on all 3 judges cards. However, more may know her as a Professional MMA Fighter with a record of 10-5 who has fought for promotions such as Bellator, Invicta, WFC and several others. She was probably most seen on the recent UFC series 'A Champion Will Be Crowned' (Also known as The Ultimate Fighter 20). Although she lost Quarter-final to Randa Markos, she came back to win a bout on 'UFC - The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale' against Lisa Ellis. Felice will get more airtime on the upcoming FOX UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Rockhold card in New Jersey this coming April 18th. Felice will be one of the women fighters featured in what is sure to be a shootout / showdown in the women's strawweight division. Felice will meet up with a fighter we know through the IKF's sister organization, the ISCF, Paige VanZant. We first saw the scrappy Paige when she was a ring girl at Rick Collup's ISCF Sanctioned Ultimate Reno Combat event in Reno, Nevada. However, a walk in the ring with a cardboard number sign wasn't enough for Paige. She wanted to give the fighting a try. On April 13th, 2012 in Reno, Nevada on Rick Collup's "Ultimate Reno Combat 32", Paige made her MMA debut. It didn't take long as she defeated Morgan Hunter of Sacramento, California (Also making her debut) by Tapout due to Rear Naked Choke at :50 seconds of round 1. It was only a little over 2 months later that she found herself already making her Pro Debut and defeating Jordan Gaza by Split Decision. Paige's Pro fight record now sits at record of 4-1, a far cry from the experience Felice has in the ring and the cage. Felice has been a pro MMA fighter since Paige was 14 years old. Felice has 15 career MMA fights which don't include her Kickboxing and Muay Thai fight record which is 23-5 with 4 wins by KO/TKO. Most out there are saying the hype on this bout is not the skills but their looks more. For example, Paige, a model and dancer, was searched more than 100,000 times on Google after her victory in November over Kailin Curran. That eclipsed the totals of many past UFC headliners. And her bout appeared on UFC Fight Pass --not even cable. Felice too has been noticed for her looks, most likely due to her aggressive photo marketing work she has done. Unlike Paige, Felice is very active on social media. Still, don't let their looks fool ya. These two come to the ring with two important factors, Passion and SKILL! However, bonding both Felice and Paige will be a common opponent both have lost to, Tecia Torres. Paige's only loss and one of Felice's losses both came from former "MULTI" time IKF Champion Tecia Torres (Left) Tecia defeated Paige at Invicta FC 4 on January 5th, 2013 by unanimous decision and she defeated Felice at Invicta FC 7 back on December 7th, 2013, again by unanimous decision. Felice Herrig and Paige VanZant will face off for battle on April 18 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. |

Malachi Cash Of Simpsonville, South Carolina, USA Is the FIRST Fighter to register to compete in the 2015 IKF World Classic. This won't be his first IKF bout, let alone his first IKF title either. This past October Cash won the IKF East Coast Muay Thai Kickboxing Classic in Dillon, South Carolina, when he defeated Nicholai Ramdass of Trinidad & Tobago by KO at :08 of Round 2. Last year the first to register for the 2014 IKF World Classic was Adult Men's American Full Contact Style Fighter Jordan Navarro of Orange Park, Florida, USA. Jordan went on to win the IKF World Classic Welterweight Title when he defeated Sardor Sodikov of Brooklyn, New York, USA by unanimous decision, 30-28, 30-27 & 29-28. The year before, Katrina Nahe was the First to register for the 2013 IKF World Classic! That year, Katrina went on to win the IKF Junior Women's International Rules Featherweight Tournament title when she defeated Danika Thibault of Sycamore, Illinois, USA by unanimous decision 30-27 on all 3 judges cards. Malachi Cash's registration was received here at the IKF today, January 23rd, 2015. The 14 year old Cash has registered into the Junior boys (Ages 14-15) Muay Thai Rules 137lb Division. His current fight record is 1-0 with the one win coming by KO this past October. So Malachi is First! The question
now is,
Don't wait to see the new belt design for this year as by the
time we present it (As Always) it may be too late for you to register.
